OBETZ, Ohio (WCMH) –A 1.2-million-square-foot warehouse serving the American clothing company Levi’s has opened in Obetz.
Maersk, a shipping company, has opened a new fulfillment facility at 5235-5251 Westpoint Drive. While the warehouse’s mailing address says Groveport, it resides within Obetz’s city limits. The warehouse receives, packs and ships orders placed to Levi Strauss & Co.’s from wholesalers, retailers and online customers.
“The site’s strategic location, given Groveport’s strong transportation network and labor market, aligns well with LS&Co.’s go-to-market strategy, allowing the company to reach more U.S. consumers faster,” a Maersk news release stated.
The Obetz warehouse is the 10th global facility operated by Maersk for Levi’s, with the pair partnering for 25 years, according to the shipping company. Across North America, Maersk operates over 85 warehousing facilities covering approximately 22.5 million square feet.
Maersk publicly announced the facility this month, stating operations began in August. The City of Obetz did not respond to a request for comment.
