Singapore, an island city-state, is renowned not only for its robust financial sector but also for its lush greenery and exceptional safety standards, according to Travel and Tour World, a digital tourism industry magazine.

Singapore is known for its welcoming communities, which play a big role in its high ranking. Commonly called the ‘Garden City’, it features many parks and tree-filled streets, offering a break from the busy city life. This recognition is likely to make Singapore even more attractive to travellers from around the world, which could help increase tourism and support economic growth.

Cape Town raking in awards

Apart from being ranked as the fifth friendliest city in the world, Cape Town has also been rated as the top long-haul destination with the best value for money for British travellers, as reported by The Independent.

Cape Town came out on top in the Post Office Travel Money’s annual long haul holiday cost of living barometer for the first time in six years, beating 31 other resorts and cities around the world surveyed.

Additionally, Time Out magazine recently named Cape Town and more specifically the East City district, as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods. This is based on ranking neighbourhoods around the world for their culture, community spirit, nightlife, and food and drink.

In The Telegraph’s 2024 list of the World’s Best 50 Hotels Cape Town’s Ellerman House was ranked in the third spot. The judges of The Telegraph Hotel Awards 2024 praised Ellerman House’s complimentary offerings, its sunset patio and also its ‘big pool gleaming in the terraced garden below’.
