This week’s spotlight shines on Showmax’s original drama, “Law, Love and Betrayal“, a legal drama filled with twists, tension, and gripping courtroom chaos.
The story follows Gugu Mabaso, portrayed by Dineo Rasedile, a fierce township lawyer determined to make her mark in the high-stakes world of corporate law. When Gugu forces her way into the slick, family-owned firm Gumede & Associates in Sandton, she finds herself battling both in the courtroom and in her personal life.
As Gugu takes on a powerful corporation, she uncovers dark secrets, betrayal, and danger lurking close to home. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Gugu drops a bombshell revelation that could shake up everything she’s built—her career, her relationships, and her sense of self. Her journey is a high-stakes battle, with every win putting her deeper in the crosshairs of the firm’s ruthless players.
At Gumede & Associates, Gugu clashes with the raw and gritty Gatsha Gumede (played by Nimrod Nkosi), a tough-as-nails head of the firm who isn’t easy to deal with and has a shady past of his own. The family drama intensifies as Ayanda (portrayed by Pearl Modiadie) joins the fight, bringing even more tension to an already combustible environment.
The 13-episode series, created by Thandi Ramathesele and directed by Nthabiseng Tau and Nthabiseng Mokoena, brilliantly captures the power struggle between Tembisa and Sandton. It weaves themes of love, ambition, family betrayal, and the high-pressure world of law.
The series also stars Siya Sepotokele as Thabo and Anelisa Phewa as James Makaula.
