PICTURES: Khama Billiat returns to SA after Kaizer Chiefs exit

Zimbabwean talisman Khama Billiat was spotted in South Africa for the first time after his dramatic exit from Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star is in Johannesburg with the Zimbabwe national team, which is set to square off with Namibia for the AFCON qualifiers.

KHAMA BILLIAT SPOTTED IN SOUTH AFRICA

This is Khama Billiat’s first visit after leaving South Africa for Zimbabwe in February this year. Khama Billiat was among Zimbabwe Premier League players who reported for training.

Apart from the now-viral photos at the OR Tambo International Airport, the Zimbabwe Football Association has since shared photos of the star with the rest of the squad during their first training session.

The photos have gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped online. Against the now-viral photos, fans also spotted several former Premier League players in the mix.

Former Orlando Pirates star Marshall Munetsi, now with Reims, was among the squad members who trained yesterday. Former Kaizer Chiefs star Teenage Hadebe was also spotted in the mix.

Surprisingly, Zimbabwe’s squad boasts at least ten players who have played or are contracted with PSL clubs.

WHEN WILL HE BE IN ACTION?

However, Khama Billiat fans can watch him play in the second leg of the back-to-back clash since the first match will be behind closed doors at Orlando Stadium.

Namibia’s home game will be played under closed doors on 10 October. However, Zimbabwe will host Collins Benjamin’s men on the 14th.

The two nations will use Orlando Stadium as their home stadium after CAF condemned their local stadiums because of poor standards.

EXCITED TO BE BACK

Billiat expressed his excitement at being back in South Africa. The 33-year-old played for several South African clubs before joining Yadah FC in Zimbabwe.

The star made his name during a successful club career playing for Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs.

He said about his return to South Africa, “I am excited about this opportunity and to be back in South Africa, where I spent the better part of my playing career.”
