Mpumi Mpama injured on set of ‘Empini’

Empini actor Mpumi Mpama who replaced Siyabonga Thwala was taken to hospital after an injury on set.

MPUMI MPAMA: INJURED

An insider from Empini tells Zimoja that actor Mpumi Mpama was injured during a rehearsal fight scene on set. The former Lingashoni was taken for medical attention and given time off to recover.

Concerned cast and crew members reportedly sent a letter to the production company, urging them to address the issue.

Showmax’s PR specialist, Zibuyile Dladla confirms to the publication that Mpama was injured two weeks ago during a rehearsal fight scene with a fellow cast member.

“Mr. Mpama was then taken to the doctor as a precautionary measure to examine any further injuries. He was then given a day off to get some rest. We can confirm that Mr. Mpama is in good health and back on set working again, says Dladla.

MORE STARS JOIN ‘EMPINI’

The popular drama series Empini also stars Nqobile Sipamla as Masasa and Nambitha Ben-Mazwi.

Ben-Mazwi portrays the role of Ndoni Themba, a deeply troubled private security bodyguard in search of answers.

Former Isibaya actor Siyabonga Thwala who portrayed the first Khaya Bhodoza has been replaced by Mpumi Mpama.

Khaya Bhodoza is a prominent businessman and political stalwart.

Ben-Mazwi tells IOL that she’s been manifesting her character and adds that her team had been working for the past two years on landing her a role that would showcase her skills as an actress who can deliver fast-paced action.

She tells Showmax: “As a strategist, I’ve been meticulous in my career and how I avoid playing the same character twice. The time is now to showcase the range I possess in my acting.”

She also admits that Ndoni is her most physically demanding role yet. She’s done a physically challenging role before, but not to this extent.
