Kaizer Chiefs made the exciting signing of Gaston Sirino in pre-season. SuperSport United veteran star Lyle Lakay believes the Uruguayan has inspired his teammates.
KAIZER CHIEFS SIGN GASTON SIRINO
After ending his six-year career with Sundowns, the 33-year-old Uruguayan has signed for Amakhosi, thanks to 41 goals and 44 assists for Kabo Yellow.
“We have decided to add some experience in our team by bringing in Sirino,” Motaung Jr told the club’s website, as quoted by iDiski Times. “We know his quality and we believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players.”
“Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play.”
TEAMMATES BENEFIT
“You know in an environment with different players, it brings out better quality in you, look at Mfundo [Vilakazi], Mduduzi Shabalala, look at Ranga [Chivaviro] and also the leadership at the back with [Inacio] Miguel,” Lakay said after the Carling Knockout Draw where SuperSport United will face Kaizer Chiefs.
“We played them in a friendly before, so we know what to expect but as you mentioned, people are starting to come to the stadiums to watch them, but we need to focus on ourselves. We haven’t started well and hopefully, we can turn the tables against Chiefs,” the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender added.
ON FACING KAIZER CHIEFS IN THE CARLING KNOCKOUT LAST 16
“It’s a good draw, to be honest, some of the guys were actually calling it, we know Chiefs were in the other pot you know, we were looking for a home draw but obviously when you play Chiefs, they are the home team wherever they go,” Lakay added.
“You saw the last four games was sold out, whether it was Durban, wherever they go, so it’s gonna be a good game, an exciting game, we’re looking forward to it and looking forward to advancing to the next round.”
