BREAKING: Rafael Nadal confirms retirement

Nadal, who is now 38 years old, has battled with injuries in recent years, and he has now finally confirmed the time has come to hang up his racquet.

The Spaniard, who won 22 grand slam titles – including 14 at the French Open – revealed the news in a video message posted on X.

“Hello everyone. I’m here to let you know that I am retiring from professional tennis,” Nadal shares at the start of a nearly five-minute video.

The much-loved sports star will feature in his final tournament at the upcoming Davis Cup this November in Malaga, having not played since the Paris Olympics earlier this year.

Spain will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals between 19 and 21 November, with Nadal have been added to the squad after recovering from injury.
