Kaizer Chiefs next five Betway Premiership fixtures revealed but first let’s look at what’s happening in preparation for the CUFA Cup.
Chiefs are set for their third visit to Bloemfontein’s Free State Stadium in recent months, this time taking on Marumo Gallants. After successfully filling the stadium for previous matches against Young Africans and Gallants, Amakhosi aims for another electrifying atmosphere this Sunday.
With the FIFA international break in full swing, Chiefs opened their Naturena Village training ground to the media on Thursday, showcasing their preparations for the upcoming match. The highlight of the day was a conversation between coach Nabi and young midfielder Samkelo Zwane.
Despite starting Zwane in the season opener, Nabi chose to bench him in the last two games. This decision indicates the coach’s commitment to nurturing the talented 22-year-old, suggesting he sees a bright future for Zwane within the squad.
Fitness focus: Enhancing player performance
Fitness and conditioning coach Majdi Safi engaged in deep discussions with Njabulo Blom, who needed to boost his fitness levels to compete for a full 90 minutes. Blom faced a challenging pre-season with his parent club, St. Louis City SC, where injuries limited his playtime. Nabi has been cautious, gradually reintegrating Blom into the team since his return to Chiefs.
Gaston Sirino, recovering from an abductor muscle injury, was the first player on the training pitch. His continued presence with the main group hints at an imminent return to action, which could significantly bolster Chiefs’ attacking options.
Injuries update: Hope on the horizon
The team has a packed schedule ahead, featuring a Carling Knockout Cup match and a league game against SuperSport United, followed by a clash with Magesi FC. The return of key players like Sirino will provide a much-needed lift for Amakhosi. The club announced earlier this week that Sirino requires two weeks to fully recover.
Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, now four days into full training after having pins removed from his finger, appears to be in high spirits. Meanwhile, George Matlou has resumed running and light ball work, aiming for a potential return in November. Tebogo Potsane, who suffered an ankle injury three weeks ago, is also making progress alongside Matlou. Edmilson Dove has been spotted walking without a protective boot, indicating a positive recovery trajectory.
