Rumoured Kaizer Chiefs target Percy Tau is on a collision course with Orlando Pirates. The Al Ahly man will be in Joburg next month.
Percy Tau’s Al Ahly future is uncertain
According to SoccerLaduma, Percy Tau won’t stay at Al Ahly beyond the end of the current campaign. Egyptian outfit Cairo24 reports that the 30-year-old Bafana star won’t extend his contract which expires at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign. This, therefore, is his final season with the Caf Champions League holders. This is, according to reports, owing to his advancing age and unsustainable wage demands.
Despite rumours that Tau’s relationship with the Al Ahly manager Marcel Kohler has broken down, he’s played a pivotal role in their recent dominance and silverware haul. Tau has won 10 major trophies with the club since joining from Brighton in 2021.
Orlando Pirates start prepping for Al Ahly’s visit
Caf Champions League holders Al Ahly have made Africa’s premier club competition their own. They’ve won four of the last five editions and possess an aura similar to that of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Upcoming Pirates fixtures as they seek a treble
The Sea Robbers must wait until later this month to resume their quest to win the Betway Premiership. They’ve started with three wins from three, so the signs are good. Upcoming are three league fixtures on the bounce and then a tricky trip to Algeria where they could be on a collision course with former Cape Town City man Khanyisa Mayo. Caf Champions League holders Al Ahly visit Orlando Stadium in early December in a crunch group clash which you simply can’t miss. Matchday 6 is arguably the toughest assignment of the entire group when Pirates meet Al Ahly in Egypt on the weekend of 17-19 January. Put that one in the diary.
