Mamelodi Sundowns legend Peter Ndlovu has called former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona to come out of international retirement.
Musona(34) currently plays for Saudi side Al-Okhdood Club having hung his boots for The Warriors two years ago. For the Zimbabwean national team, the ‘Smiling Assassin’ scored 24 goals in 51 matches in the 12 years he played.
His fellow countryman Khama Billiat recently came out of retirement in August. Although he is 34, Musona is still capable of scoring goals and his experience could help some of the young players in the national side.
Sundowns legend wants ex-Chiefs star Musona out of retirement
Ndlovu has taken to X(Twitter) to ask Musona to come out of retirement and break his records.
“Khama your country always needed you. Thanks for returning boy,” he said in a tweet.
“The confidence you instil in the team is unimaginable. The likes of Wales have vastly been improving & learning from you. We hope Knowledge(Musona) can give us another 10 games so that he surpasses the record goals,” said the Sundowns legend.
Ndlovu, who is now a team manager for Sundowns, has had a successful football career spanning two decades. He represented Birmingham City and Sheffield United in England before moving to Sundowns in 2004. At Masandawana, he won two league titles before retiring after a short stint with Thanda Royal Zulu.
It remains to be seen if Musona would listen to former Sundowns’ striker’s plea to get him out of retirement. The Warriors are in the middle of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
