Despite facing liquidation and a high-profile divorce, Drip Footwear Lekau Sehoana has received praise from his superstar pal, Black Coffee.
The businessman made headlines this week after the company was declared insolvent after facing a backlog of bills.
Lekau, who opened his first store in 2020, is a qualified civil engineer. His celebrity circle includes Anele Mdoda, Oskido, and Cassper Nyovest, with whom he signed a R100 million collaboration deal in 2021.
BLACK COFFEE SHOWS LEKAU SEHOANA LOVE
While Lekau Sehoana is likely feeling the pressure of his Drip Footwear company’s demise, his pal Black Coffee publicly dedicated a message of motivation to him.
Tagging him, the DJ tweeted: “I’m extremely proud of everything you have achieved, brother. Your story has inspired a lot of young entrepreneurs to start. The sky is the limit”.
Black Coffee also retweeted images of him with his inner circle of friends, which included Lekau.
DRIP FOOTWEAR FOUNDER ‘WARNED’ ABOUT RISE AND FALL
Meanwhile, a local entrepreneur claimed in a Facebook comment in 2021 that he had “warned” Lekau Sehoana about the risks of his business plan.
In the post, Lekau posted a picture of five branded company vehicles. In the background was a billboard advertising this company, Drip Footwear. The post came just over a year into the launch of his business.
According to Makuni Gwanya he commented at the time: “My brother, do you really need to spend more money on these liabilities? Your business is young. Is it not better to contact a courier service for this and save money?”.
He continued: “I made this kind of mistake ten years ago. I don’t claim to know it all, but I understand the importance of a value chain in your business to build enough cash flow before opening too many overheads. Manage your growth; don’t try and grow too quickly”.
Lekau Sehoana responded to the man: “Please don’t subject your mistakes and fears on me.”
Amid news of Drip Footwear’s liquidation, the man retweeted screenshots of his “friendly warning,” adding, “I made the same mistake in my first business back in 2011. I didn’t want him to repeat that mistake.”
