Is Kaizer Chiefs ‘Mshini’ Ngcobo available in the CUFA Cup after 0 minutes in the PSL? Let’s delve in and find out.
The arrival of coach Nasreddine Nabi at Chiefs has created a whirlwind of emotions among players, with some embracing the change while others face uncertainty about their futures. Sources close to the club indicate that midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is one of the most affected by the new coaching regime.
An insider revealed that Nabi plans to loan out Ngcobo during the January transfer window. “It’s tough for Mshini with coach Nabi in charge. He won’t play that much or not even play at all. The problem is his style of play. He is very slow and likes passing backwards, while the coach wants fast, straightforward players in the midfield,” the source explained. This preference for speed has allowed players like Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala to secure regular playing time.
Loan move likely for Ngcobo
Another source noted that the Amakhosi technical team is working to find a solution for Ngcobo’s situation. “Since he still has two years remaining on his contract, the best the club can do at the moment is to loan him out. They will be working at loaning him out either in January or at the end of the season,” the source stated. Given his exclusion from the coach’s plans, a loan might be the best path forward for the 24-year-old.
As the club adapts to Nabi’s philosophy, a potential loan could offer Ngcobo the chance to gain essential playing time and further his development. With his recent marriage adding personal pressure, Ngcobo aims to make a mark, especially with the CUFA Cup on the horizon.
Sirino’s injury opens doors
Compounding Ngcobo’s challenge, 33-year-old Gaston Sirino sustained an abductor muscle injury during Amakhosi’s defeat to Sundowns before the international break. According to Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist David Miller. “Gaston Sirino sustained an abductor muscle injury in the last match, and he is improving nicely. We expect him to be back in full training within two weeks.” With Sirino’s availability in doubt for the upcoming clash against SuperSport on October 26, Ngcobo could step into a critical role during this transitional period.
He is not injured as Kaizer Chiefs X account confirmed today, despite no minutes in the Betway Premiership under Nabi.
