‘Social media will kill you’ – Kaizer Chiefs captain

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart says he doesn’t pay attention to social media comments citing that comments can be hurtful.

The 29-year-old midfielder has faced harsh criticism in the past but said being off from social media has helped.

“If you take note of social media, it will kill you because at the end of the day if you read those comments, they will hurt your feelings… you are a human being. So, I don’t go there [social media], I don’t know what’s going on there,” he told the media.

The Kaizer Chiefs captain has given credit to new coach Nasreddine Nabi for the club’s fortunes recently.

“The coach [Nabi] came in and made a huge difference. The way we play makes me believe that we will win something this season… you can see there’s a big improvement,” Maart said as per Sowetan Live.

“The coaches are positively aggressive on us to emphasise what they want. The current technical team has a different mentality. The coach [Nabi] can make jokes but when it’s time for work, he wants us to work.”

Kaizer Chiefs captain Maart talks about responsibilities

The midfielder says has a responsibility to work harder than everyone. Maart has captained Chiefs in the three matches so far having taken the reins permanently.

“From my side, I need to push harder as the captain and the leader, so that everyone about me can also push harder. Eventually, if we pull in the same direction, we will win something,” said the Kaizer Chiefs captain Maart.

Can Maart and his side win a trophy this season?
