‘Ric Flair’ has given the nation hope – Fans react to Bafana’s 5-0

Bafana Bafana fans have found their voices once again after the team thrashed Congo Brazzaville on Friday evening.

Two goals from Teboho Mokoena and a goal each from Bathusi Aubaas, Lyle Foster and Iqraam Ryaners gave Hugo Broos‘ men an emphatic 5-0 win at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The win sees Bafana on the verge of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations. With three matches left, South Africa sits on seven points alongside Uganda. The team now travel to Congo to play the same side they hammered at home.

After the match, fans took to social media to praise Hugo Broos for the job he had done at Bafana. Earlier this year, the 72-year-old coach guided the team to the Afcon semis for the first time in 24 years.

“What Hugo Broos is doing to Bafana Bafana, is what Rassie Erasmus did to the Springboks. They have awakened the sleeping giants! Who would have thought Bafana Bafana would fill stadiums again and be a force in African football?

“SAFA should honour Hugo Broos with a pay increase,” tweeted @Cellular_jnr.
