Hugo Broos needs to rope a Kaizer Chiefs midfielder into his Bafana Bafana setup according to Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana.
Kekana has urged the national team coach to give one Amakhosi star a chance to prove himself at international level.
According to the legendary midfielder, Amakhosi’s Samkelo Zwane should form part of Bafana Bafana.
The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder earned a rare start in Chiefs’ Cufa Cup triumph on Sunday afternoon, leaving a lasting impression on Kekana.
Take a look at what the Mamelodi Sundowns legend had to say about the 22-year-old midfielder below.
Kekana urges Brooks to pick Kaizer Chiefs youngster
“I fancy young Samkelo Zwane to be the player that Kaizer Chiefs can rely on in terms of being on the ball more,” Kekana said as quoted by IDiski Times.
“This is a player that I believe this coming season he should be in the Bafana team because of the quality that he possesses.
“He knows how to play the longer and the shorter passes. He knows how to play in the half spaces. This is a player that I believe is complete and needs to be guided properly and they’ve got a nice coach in Nabi.”
In other news, a Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate is reportedly edging closer to a top-flight return.
Marumo Gallants have been tipped to sign former Amakhosi midfielder Darrel Matsheke.
The talented midfielder has been unemployed since the beginning of the year after being abruptly released by Stellenbosch FC.
The 25-year-old midfielder made 12 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs after being promoted to the first team in 2020.
He later went on to play for Uthongathi, Moroka Swallows and Stellenbosch FC.
Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate to join Gallants?
“Marumo Gallants are interested in adding Darrel Matsheke to their squad as they look to further improve,” the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder’s agent Gerald Baloyi told Soccer Laduma.
“Darrel is a free agent and Marumo Gallants feel he could fit well in their team in line with what the club is aiming to achieve this season. We are in talks with the club and there is a possibility of him starting training with the club during the FIFA break.
“I know coach Dan Malesela will be happy to work with a player of Darrel’s quality. The player’s quality speaks for itself.”
Next three Kaizer Chiefs fixtures
The Amakhosi now enjoy a lengthy break before tackling SuperSport United on 26 October.
Four days later, Nabi’s side travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to face the newly-promoted Magesi FC.
Kaizer Chiefs then host Royal AM on 09 November at the FNB Stadium.
Was letting go of Matsheke a bad move by Chiefs?
