Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly willing to offer their striker Ranga Chivaviro a new deal.
The 31-year-old has shown form this season, scoring two league goals in three appearances so far for the Glamour Boys. In his first season for Amakhosi, the big forward only netted four goals in 20 appearances.
Under the new coach Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, Ranga showed his qualities even before the start of the season. During pre-season training, the ex-Marumo Gallants star scored four goals in one match which elevated him above Ashley Du Preez as the club’s main striker.
According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi are willing to extend Chivaviro’s contract by another two years. An inside told the publication that Kaizer Chiefs are not waiting until the last minute to secure their firing forward.
“In most cases, the club has waited until the last minute to extend player contracts, and they don’t want to do that with Ranga [Chivaviro], and that’s why they may already offer him a new two-year deal. It’s not a done deal, as there is still some work to do,
Kaizer Chiefs have relied on Chivaviro for goals
A second source said Amakhosi are still interested in bringing a striker in the January transfer.
“What they are doing is to make sure that as they are looking for another striker to sign, maybe in January, they don’t lose the one they have in the team. At the moment in the team, he is the outright striker that the coach is depending on, and a new two-year contract would keep him there even if they sign a new striker”, the source said.
Kaizer Chiefs are in action this weekend against SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup.
Is Chivaviro the right man to score goals?
