The Springboks will be without the services of lock Salmaan Moerat for their three-Test tour of Europe in November.
Rassie Erasmus’ Springboks have been ravaged by injuries this season and on Tuesday, the DHL Stormers revealed that another South African international has sustained a knock which ruled him out for the foreseeable future.
BOK LOCK STOCKS TAKE ANOTHER HIT
Stormers assistant coach Dawie Snyman confirmed that lock Salmaan Moerat has been ruled out of the Springboks’ Test matches against Scotland, England and Wales after undergoing an operation on a knee injury.
“Salmaan isn’t available for next week’s game [against Glasgow Warriors],” Snyman said. “He will be available at the end of November.
“He had a small procedure, he’s got a small injury.”
The injury to the 26-year-old, who captained the country in Tests against Portugal, Australia and Argentina, would have been seen as big blow to the Springboks’ lock stocks, but fortunately for Rassie Erasmus RG Snyman and Jean Kleyn have recovered sufficiently from their long-term knocks and are available for Test selection next month.
Both Ireland-based Springboks featured in the Leinster versus Munster derby this past weekend.
