Bafana Bafana will be without the crucial services of Themba Zwane when they take on Uganda and South Africa in November.
South Africa are scheduled to clash with Uganda and South Sudan in two important Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month, but the team will have to do so with the influential Zwane.
Zwane, who made his 50th international appearance for Bafana last Friday, again started for South Africa in their away fixture against Congo on Tuesday, but he was forced off in the 40th minute due to an injury.
Needing a victory from the showdown to qualify for AFCON, Bafana ultimately battled to a 1-1 draw with the side’s overall performance dropping in Zwane’s absence.
HUGO BROOS LAMENTS ZWANE SETBACK
“Themba Zwane is very important player for us,” said Broos after the game.
“It was not good for us that Themba had to go out with an injury, and it is a big injury, its Achilles tendon. I am afraid he will be out for months. So, again, when you lose such an important player, it’s difficult certainly in the game where you are dominated.
“Because Themba is someone who can keep the ball, who can give the last pass, and he was not there. Maybe that was also why we didn’t play so well.”
