Kaizer Chiefs summer transfer wish list revealed

Kaizer Chiefs, who play SuperSport United on October 19, hope to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi clarified his demand for an additional attacker following his side’s Cufa Cup victory against Marumo Gallants, saying, “This is a big, big problem [missing scoring opportunities]. I want a winning mentality. There are no friendly games.

“In friendly games, you need a positive attitude and a winning attitude. In exercises and training, I want to win. If I lose, it’s a problem. I don’t sleep. I want this mentality.”

Nabi’s first wish as AmaKhosi manager was to bring in attacking talent but remain with one number 9, Ranga Chivaviro.

In a conversation with SABC Sport, Nabi said, “For myself, I think look now, in October we don’t play, then we have November and December. Then in January, the window opens. I need to scout for the quality that I need,”

“I think my strikers today and last game, they scored. I agree with you, the market in Africa is very, very short, you have maybe three, four, or five good players but all the clubs in Africa take them like Esperance, Al Ahly, Zamalek. The market in Africa is not positive in this moment.”

Asanele Velebayi

Their interest in Cape Town’s Asanele Velebayi has been no secret with multiple offers being rejected only months ago.

The Mother City club deemed the offering price too low. Perhaps Kaizer Chiefs will be willing to up their offer as they look to build momentum in the league.

Lance Davids, Velebayi’s agent, shared some insight on Chiefs negotiations during the winter, telling SABC, “Of course, there was a lot of back–and–forth—Chiefs put in an offer, and the value was too low for Cape Town Spurs.”

“Chiefs came back with a second offer and gave, in my opinion, a valuation that was very fair with add-ons, and they also didn’t accept that. They thought the valuation was low, and then they stopped just there”.

Ranga Chivaviro

Kaizer Chiefs are currently in talks with 31-year-old Ranga Chivaviro, who are willing to offer the striker an additional two-year contract.
