The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced Morocco as the hosts for the 2024 Women’s Champions League tournament.
Morocco will host the eight-team tournament for the second time in four years having done so in 2022.
According to a statement released by CAF, the tournament will be played between 9-23 November 2024.
Now, the COSAFA region will be represented by two clubs for the first time since the inception of the tournament in 2021.
Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will head to the North African country alongside rivals University of Western Cape (UWC).
Nonetheless, Sundowns are strong favourites to lift the trophy having tasted that success on two separate occasions – 2021 and 2023.
However, hosts AS FAR cannot be ruled out altogether as they also won the Women’s Champions League trophy on home soil in 2022.
Meanwhile, CAF confirmed that this year’s winners will walk away with USD400 000 which amounts to R7 million.
Furthermore, the runners-up will pocket USD250 000 which amounts to just over R4.4 million, CAF revealed.
