Orlando Pirates suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of Magesi at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Playing their first match since winning the MTN8 final, the Buccaneers looked sluggish and casual in the opening phases of the match. The visitors found the opening goal of the match through Delano Abrahams. Magesi continued to attack and were rewarded when Thabiso Sesane scored in his own net.
Orlando Pirates send packing
Just before the half-time break, Pirates conceded a penalty and Edmore Chirambadare scored from the rebound after Sipho Chaine made an initial save.
In the second half, it was all Pirates but the damage had been done. Tshegofatso Mabasa missed several chances and was eventually subbed off.
Two quick goals by Orlando Pirates made it a nervy finish but Magesi managed to hold on for a famous victory. Man of the Match Elvis Chipezeze said mental toughness was key for them to win the match.
