Pitso Mosimane’s paycheck at Esteghlal FC revealed

Former Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane has found a new club following a six-month stint at Abha.

The 60-year-old PSL winner has put pen to paper with Persian Gulf Pro League side Esteghlal FC, making it seven teams in twelve years.

Previously, he held the reins at Al Ahly, Al-Ahli, Al-Wahda, and Abha. Three years have flown by since Mosimane was seen on a South African sideline.

How much will Pitso Mosimane earn?

According to Soccer Laduma’s source, the two-time CAF Champions League winner will earn a mouthwatering R15 million per year—R1.25 million monthly—with the possibility of an additional R3 million in bonuses.

Words from Pitso

In a conversation with iDiski Times, Mosimane said, “Esteghlal F.C. is a very big club in the Gulf region, with a long and illustrious history. The two Asian Champions League stars on top of their badge tell you what kind of club this is,”

“Their last trophy was won in 2022, and we can believe their fans are hungry for glory once again.

“The challenge that awaits us is steep, but it is our privilege to lead such a prolific club. I would like to thank the club leadership for placing their trust in us. We are ready to get to work.”

The history of Esteghlal FC

The Persian Giants currently sit 11th on the log amounting eight points in seven games—they finished last season one point off the champions, Persepolis.

Domestically, they’ve won it all: nine Iran leagues, seven Hazfi Cups, one Super Cup, thirteen Tehran Leagues, four Tehran Hazfi Cups and one Tehran Super Cup.

Along with an array of domestic accolades, they’ve lifted the CAF Champions League twice.

Esteghlal’s next game is against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr. However, the club has confirmed on X that he will not be in charge of the duel: “[Mosimane] will not be coaching the Famous Royal Blues in the coming game as his official beginning of training camp will be on Wednesday, the day after Esteghlal’s important game against Al-Nassr.”

That means his first game will be against Kheybar, who are below him in thirteenth place. Mosimane will be desperate to begin his Persian Pro League career on winning terms.
