Forgotten PSL midfielder regrets snubbing Orlando Pirates!

Former Maritzburg United midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase has admitted he regrets snubbing Orlando Pirates a few years ago.

Ntshangase was on the books of Wits when Pirates made advances to sign him but he ignored them and stayed put.

And a few years later, in 2020, Wits were sold and Ntshangase alongside the majority of his teammates scrambled to find new teams.

Had he entertained Pirates, the diminutive central midfielder would have not been affected by the sale of Wits.

To this day, Ntshangase looks back and kicks himself as to why he didn’t accept that Pirates offer for his services.

However, Ntshangase said, at the time, he had bought into the idea of Wits wanting to succeed, and he wanted to be a part of that.

The 29-year-old also played for SuperSport United, captained Maritzburg United, featured for both Baroka and Highbury FC.

He is currently not attached to any team following his shock departure from Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

PSL MIDFIELDER NTSHANGASE REGRETS NOT JOINING ORLANDO PIRATES

“You know, sometimes I look back and always think that if I had made a move at that time, maybe things would have been different because there were some calls from other clubs, especially Orlando Pirates,” Ntshangase told FARPost.

“Pirates, at that time, was a big call-up team that was more interested. However, I chose to stay at Wits because I liked the structure, and the team had a big vision.

“I think until today, I do regret it, but I don’t regret it 100% because, if you look at it, I’m very proud of myself for making it with one of the most overlooked teams in the league.”

“You know, big teams are always expected to win all the cups like Pirates are doing now. But I was able to do that with just an average team back in the day,” concluded Ntshangase.
