Lando Norris back in title contention as Sainz wins F1 Mexican Grand Prix after 20-SECOND Max Verstappen penalty

LANDO NORRIS boosted his world title hopes as Max Verstappen was handed TWO 10-second penalties.

Carlos Sainz made it two wins in a row for Ferrari with a brilliant victory from pole, ahead of Norris.

Yuki Tsunoda and Alex Albon crashed out on the first lap, with Fernando Alonso also retiring early.

Red Bull’s world champ Max Verstappen then suffered his penalties – the latter one for going off the track and taking an advantage over Norris.

On the Brit’s team radio came the message: “I was ahead the whole way through the corner, this guy is dangerous.

“I just have to avoid a crash, I will end up in the wall in a minute.”

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz led from pole with Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc four seconds behind.

And after 30 the 71 laps we had this top five: Sainz, Leclerc, Lando (Mclaren), George Russell (Mercedes), Kevin Magnussen (Haas).

Norris tried to pile on the pressure.

And Leclerc somehow averted crashing into the barrier with a brilliant recovery as he took third ahead of Lewis Hamilton, whose Mercedes team-mate George Russell was fifth, a place above Verstapen.
