Netflix’s latest buzzworthy addition, ‘Beauty in Black,’ marks Tyler Perry’s debut series on the platform, expanding his creative footprint through a new first-look deal. This 8-episode drama unravels the intersecting lives of two women facing high-stakes challenges.
At the heart of the story is Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), who’s been left to fend for herself after her mother threw her out. Meanwhile, Mallory (Crystle Stewart) is boss woman who is running a family empire, a hair care brand. While she’s thriving in business, her personal life is shaken by long-buried family secrets and the looming threat of a nosy lawyer. When a rainy night accident comes back to haunt her, Mallory finds her empire—and her relationships—at risk of falling apart.
Supporting cast members include Steven G. Norfleet as Charles, Julian Horton as Roy, Terrell Carter as Varney, Shannon Wallace as Calvin, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Joy Rovaris as Gillian, Xavier Smalls as Angel, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, Tamera “Tee” Kissen as Body, Ursula O.
