The Springboks are set to play one of their end of year test matches on a Sunday.
Springboks rugby is as much a part of South African culture as rugby and braai’ing.
From stories of epic triumph to heartbreaking gutting losses. From the Rugby Championship to incoming tours in June and end of year tours in November. One thing has been constant – Saturday is game day for the Boks and time for millions of South Africans to plan their day around the big test. However, in a rare turn of events, the Springboks will be in action on a Sunday.
SPRINGBOKS TAKE ON SCOTLAND ON A SUNDAY
The Springboks take on Scotland on Sunday, 10 November 2024.
Kick-off is at 18:10 (SA time).
Therefore, the Boks will return to action for the first time since lifting the 2024 Rugby Championship when they take on the Scots at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
RUGBY WORLD CUP REMATCH
Moreover, it is a rematch from their bruising battle during the group stages of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The Springboks won that natch 18-3 on the day.
However, the scoreline does not tell the full story. In fact, this was one of the most bruising and physical matches on the group stages. A try less first half saw the reigning, defending world champions take a 6-3 lead into the break.
Thereafter, two hard-earned tries and some resolute defense saw the Boks score key second half tries including an iconic Rugby World Cup moment. The ‘no-look’ kick pass from Manie Libbok to Kurt-Lee Arendse was a thing of beauty, memorable and scintillating.
Now, Scotland are at home. They are playing at the iconic Murrayfield stadium.
Therefore, it will be a whole different challenge for Rassie Erasmus’ men who take on a very different Scotland side, psychologically.
