Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw himself into the NFL MVP discussion on Sunday.
Daniels avoided rushers and launched a 52-yard “Hail Mary’ touchdown pass that was tipped into the hands of receiver Noah Brown to cap an amazing 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears.
Daniels was 21-of-38 passing for 326 yards and one touchdown – but the rookie was second in Black quarterback performances in Week 8 to seasoned veteran Jameis Winston.
Winston, subbing for the ineffective Deshaun Watson, completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns in Cleveland’s stunning 29-24 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Tyler Murray shredded Miami’s defense for 26 completions, 304 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-27 win over the Dolphins.
Lost in the loss to the Browns was Lamar Jackson’s outstanding performance. The reigning MVP, who is favored to win second in a row and third overall MVP award, was 23 of 38 passing for 289 yards and two touchdowns.
C.J. Stroud, Houston’s second-year QB sensation, completed 35 of 37 passes for 285 yards to help guide the Texans to a 23-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
