From kebabs to nuggets: Here’s what your Cardiff post-night out food says about you

The decision of where to go to pick up some post-boogie scran can evidently be one of the biggest decisions of the night. We all have those cravings in the club, whether it’s a kebab or some cheesy chips with gravy, it’s a universal uni experience.

With Cardiff being a bustling student city, there are many fabulous food options for when we all need a little pick me up after a hectic night out, all in and around Cathays. From Family Fish Bar to Domino’s, the choices are endless, but what you end up going for really dictates a lot more about you than you might initially believe.

So, here is what your Cardiff post-night out scran really says about you.

Family Fish Bar

Having built up quite the reputation within the Cardiff student community, Family Fish Bar is a hotspot for students. If this is your go-to spot, there is no doubt you’re on a first name basis with the owners, maybe even being lucky enough to have a feature on the iconic wall.

You’re probably a second or third year, as a lot of first years haven’t discovered this gem of a place yet. You might live less than a five minute walk away, but you can’t resist stumbling in for some chips and a chat.

T and As

If T and As is your regular spot, you are definitely a fiend for a kebab.

You probably love a Misfits Friday and take full advantage of the £1.50 Jägerbombs (who doesn’t?), so where else to go after except the place opposite for some food to soak up all that alcohol?

You’re a bit too boujee for any of the other places nearby and don’t mind splashing the cash on a kebab you probably won’t even remember eating.

Mama’s

If you frequent Mama’s after a night out, there’s a strong chance you are part of a society that gets a discount, or everywhere else was closed so this was your last option.

You’re probably a rugby boy whose excuse is that you need a kebab or some chips as you’re bulking, even though the real reason is that you busted too many moves in the club and need something to revive yourself.

McDonalds

The 24-hour McDonalds on Queen Street is always heaving after a night out. If you are amongst this group, then you love a night out in town.

You frequent clubs like Live Lounge or Circuit but can’t resist a cheeky Maccies for the walk home because, let’s face it, you’re going to need it for the hike back.

Being in prime location in the city centre, it’s full of the public as well, so you’re probably a friendly person whose up for having a drunk chat with some random folk.

Domino’s

Now, some of you may not be aware but Domino’s delivers till 5am in Cardiff, perfect for those late night drunk cravings.

If you order a Domino’s after a night out, chances are you avoid looking at your bank account for weeks at a time out of fear.

There’s a high chance you live in Taly Gate, otherwise how else would you be able to keep up with the crazy costs.

You’re probably impulsive and known for making questionable drunk decisions, leading to you spending your money on random things (like a domino’s) when you’ve had a few too many drinks.

You just can’t resist a post-club Pepperoni Passion and probably order it so it’s ready at your doorstep for when you get back.

Chippy Lane

Venturing even further away from Cathays, Chippy Lane lies in the heart of the city centre, with some even naming it as an iconic landmark in Cardiff.

This street serves as a popular place for the locals in the city, so if this is your fave place then you are definitely eager to experience a part of the city’s history.

You’re probably a first year who’s known about Chippy Lane ever since you knew you were going to Cardiff, and you just want to be able to say you’ve been to this iconic part of town.

You also aren’t afraid of the walk back, but might feel some regrets when it’s chucking it down with rain and all you’ve got are some cheesy chips to pull yourself through.

Snack Shack (SU)

Situated in prime location, in the SU, the Snack Shack is perfect for those drunken YOLO nights.

If you frequent this “shack”, you’re definitely a part of a society and never miss a Wednesday night. It’s likely you love to chop one too many VKs for a social and eventually need some chicken nuggets to sober yourself up.

You love a dance in the main room and a good drinking challenge for a social, but you just can’t wait to grab some cheesy chips for the walk back to prep for that 9am lecture you know you’re never going to make.

Despite every night out being different, your favourite food place will always be the same, no matter how drunk you end up getting.
