Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a MIBCO Trainee Agent, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting Routine Inspections: Visit establishments in your assigned zones to ensure compliance with collective agreements.
- Identifying and Correcting Contraventions: Advise establishments on violations of the collective agreement and provide guidance on resolving them.
- Promoting Healthy Industrial Relations: Enhance communication with establishments about aspects of the collective agreement.
- Raising Awareness: Increase the general awareness of collective agreements among members in the assigned areas.
- Enforcing Collective Agreements: Use prescribed legal processes to ensure adherence to agreements.
- Managing Appointments: Schedule and organize appointments with establishments in your designated areas.
- Promoting MIBCO: Highlight the benefits and functions of the Motor Industry Bargaining Council during inspections and to members.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
To excel as a Trainee Agent at MIBCO, you should possess:
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and listening abilities.
- Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, and management.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong decision-making and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

- Organizational Skills: Good administration, planning, and organizational skills.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- A Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent academic qualification.
- A Labour Relations qualification is advantageous.
- 2 years of solid sales experience (experience in the motor industry is a plus).
- At least 2 years of experience with Labour Relations.
- 1 year of experience with Bargaining Council Agreements.
- English proficiency and ability to handle correspondence independently.
- A valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience.
- Completion of the Agents’ Examination, Parts I & II is an added advantage.
- Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
- Technical experience or knowledge in motor engineering and/or vehicle repairs is advantageous.
