FBI agents executed a search warrant on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at John-Paul Miller’s home in Myrtle Beach.
Neighbours told a media house that the FBI announced they were executing a search warrant at the Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller’s house and that they had been authorized by the court.
This was confirmed by Kevin Wheeler, spokesman for the Columbia FBI office.
However, he did not elaborate on why the search was being conducted or if anything had been retrieved from the house.
The FBI team wearing windbreakers and shirts was seen searching the premises, including Miller’s garage.
Some of the FBI agents were wearing “FBI Evidence Response Team” labeled shirts. The FBI Evidence Response Team is tasked with processing the crime scene.
One of Miller’s attorneys, Russell Long, stated that he has no knowledge about the purpose of the search and claimed that the FBI is fishing.
Long said,
‘There was no affidavit attached to the search warrant; therefore, I have no idea what it’s in relation to.’
After the FBI concluded its search procedures, Long stated that he hoped this is the end of any investigation on his client.
For the unversed, Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller’s wife, Mica Miller, died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds on April 30, and her body was recovered in Lumber River State Park in North Carolina.
Police conclude Mica’s death as a suicide
After investigation, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office released a report concluding Mica’s death as a suicide. Robeson County Sheriff’s Office also stated that the conclusion was based upon
‘Surveillance footage, interviews, physical evidence, and the examination of the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.’
On April 27, around 2:45 p.m., a 911 call was placed by a woman asking the authorities to trace her phone since she was going to kill herself and wanted her family members to trace her body. The call was immediately traced by dispatch, and a deputy was sent to the park.
Robeson County Sheriff’s Office’s media release said,
‘Investigators located a Sig Sauer gun case in the passenger seat of the vehicle and a box of ammunition in the center console of the vehicle. The investigators also found a receipt for the Sig Sauer handgun from a pawn shop and a receipt from a convenience store in the vehicle. Both receipts were dated for the same day of Miller’s death.’
Mica Miller’s body was later found in the park’s water.
Mica Miller was in an abusive relationship
Both JP Miller and his wife Mica Miller were separated and involved in legal proceedings. Mica Miller’s family revealed that Mica kept a diary and had hinted that she was under abusive, coercive control.
The search by the FBI of the home of Pastor John-Paul “JP” Miller happened six months after his wife’s death.
