Hollyoaks confirms unexpected return for ‘missing’ character

Arlo Fielding (Dan Hough) is set to stage his Hollyoaks return next week, marking his first appearance since the show’s time-jump.

The troublesome child of Marie Fielding (Rita Simons), Arlo made his debut earlier this year when he showed up in the eponymous village after being declared missing by his concerned mum.

A big twist confirmed that Arlo wasn’t actually missing like Marie had been led to belief as older brother Abe (Tyler Conti) has been keeping his young sibling out of the reach of their mum, who he believed to be a bad influence.

Abe, as viewers know, is a controlling abuser, who currently has girlfriend Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) held prisoner at their flat.

Arlo, meanwhile, picked up on a few of his older brother’s behavioural patterns, proving violent and abusive towards his mum while also causing trouble at school, misgendering Ro Hutchinson (Ava Webster).

Hollyoaks took a time jump one year into the future in September and, since then, Arlo hasn’t been seen, with viewers left wondering if the character had been written out.

But next week, he stages his return – and it seems he’s just as mischievous as ever.

Diane (Alex Fletcher), as fans know, struggled to accept the fact that Tony (Nick Pickard) has moved on with Marie but upcoming scenes will see her attempt to come to terms with such a thing.

With Tony planning on going on a date with Marie, Arlo is less than pleased and at school – when Kathleen-Angel talks about said date – he’s livid, bringing wine into the school with him, which leaves Kathleen-Angel upset.

Ro offers to drink the wine with Arlo, who continues to misgender him.

Will Arlo find himself in trouble? And will someone call him out over his terrible behaviour?
