A PSL Legend and Bafana star was stabbed again!

A PSL Legend and Bafana star was stabbed again but has survived this time.

Erwin Isaacs, a star of Bafana Bafana and PSL legend, has an inspiring football journey. He began at Burnley United in Lavender Hill, transitioned to Milano, and played for FC Fortune before joining Santos FC.

Initially a goalkeeper, Isaacs evolved into a defender and midfielder but ultimately thrived as a prolific striker. Under coach Roger De Sa, he seized his opportunity, netting 55 goals and delivering 23 assists in the South African Premiership, now known as the Betway Premiership, representing Santos, Bidvest Wits, and Ajax Cape Town (Cape Town Spurs).

A shocking incident in Lavender Hill

On October 6, 2024, tragedy struck when Isaacs was stabbed in Lavender Hill, a community often overshadowed by despair. Known for its gang violence and drug-related issues, Lavender Hill faces challenges that run deep, stemming from apartheid’s legacy.

An insider recounts the incident.

“Apples(Erwin Isaacs) was sitting with his brother, so they had a braai and some drinks,” the source told The South African

“Next moment, a fight broke out with his brothers’ wife outside with a person that was said to be a gangster. Apples’ brother went out trying to defend his wife and He(Isaacs) joined him to help. Another boy outside then pulled out a knife without Apples seeing him. This boy then tried to stab his brother but Apples pulled him away and instead was stabbed. Luckily he is okay, it could have ended a lot worse.”

Remembering Alton Meiring

This shocking event coincided with the tragic death of Alton Meiring, another football legend, who passed away on the same day. Meiring, 48, held the record for scoring goals with nine different clubs in the Premiership Soccer League, leaving a lasting legacy.

Despite the recent ordeal, Erwin Isaacs remains committed to his community as a youth coach at Lavender Hill United. He dedicates his time to mentoring young players, sharing his football knowledge. And life experiences to guide them toward better choices. Isaacs embodies resilience and hope in a community striving for a brighter future.
