Bafana Bafana coach Broos praises Nabi’s vision for Kaizer Chiefs

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos praises Nasreddine Nabi’s vision for Kaizer Chiefs.

Coach Broos believes that Nabi is laying the groundwork for a brighter future at Chiefs. Despite the team’s recent 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium, Nabi has instilled a renewed sense of optimism among fans and players alike. The season kicked off with impressive 2-1 and 3-1 victories over Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu, showcasing an exciting style of play that has been notably absent in recent campaigns.

“I’m happy that Kaizer Chiefs are showing they will come again to what they were a few years ago,” Broos remarked, reflecting on the club’s potential resurgence, as quoted by iDiski Times.

A no-nonsense approach to team

Broos pointed out the disappointment surrounding Chiefs’ performance over the last two seasons, which saw them finish a dismal 10th in the league, their lowest position in the Premier Soccer League era. He noted that Nabi brings a disciplined, no-nonsense coaching style that resonates with his own approach. “He’s also a guy like me, he tells things like they are. What I feel is there’s no friendship politics anymore; you have to perform to earn your place on the team,” Broos stated.

The Belgian-Tunisian coach’s emphasis on meritocracy signals a shift in team dynamics, crucial for the club’s recovery.

Broos emphasised that it is not normal for a prestigious club like Kaizer Chiefs to languish in the lower ranks of the league. “Let’s be honest; for a club like Chiefs to be eighth or ninth for the last two or three years is not normal. It has to be… not always champions, but second or third, maybe fourth,” he declared. His optimism shines through as he notes that Chiefs appear to be on the right track.

Brian Baloyi’s praise for coach Nabi

In related news, Kaizer Chiefs’ legendary goalkeeper Brian Baloyi recently praised Coach Nabi’s commitment to youth development, drawing a comparison to former mentor Muhsin Ertuğral. During an episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG, Baloyi emphasised Nabi’s focus on young talent, stating, “He loves youngsters.” This approach mirrors Ertuğral’s legacy, who famously gave a 16-year-old Itumeleng Khune his debut. Khune has since established himself as a club icon.

Kaizer Chiefs are working towards reclaiming their former glory, both Broos and Baloyi highlight the promising direction in which Nabi is steering the team. The future potentially looks bright for the Amakhosi.
