Bafana Bafana star could earn his old team a massive kickback

Bafana Bafana wide man Elias Mokwana is starring for club and country after his move to Tunisian outfit Esperance. What’s the next move?

Mokwana wanted in Europe?

Esperance and former Sekhukhune winger Elias Mokwana is now a regular for Hugo Broos in the Bafana side. According to Soccer-Laduma, European scouts watched him in South Africa’s resounding win over Congo. The 25-year-old now has four caps for his country. He moved to Esperance in August for a fee of around R7 million. Sekhukhune could earn a sell-on clause figure if he moves elsewhere for a larger fee.

“There is interest from Europe in Mokwana. Actually, it’s from Belgium. We can’t say which team it is at the moment because that could complicate things. He has been spotted by scouts and agents from Belgium who have twice watched him play for Bafana Bafana and they are willing to talk to his team in Tunisia for a possible move. I can’t say when they want him but they have inquired about him. They are believed to be at the forefront in looking for his services,” said the source.

“His move to any other team will benefit Sekhukhune United. They agreed that if Elias (Mokwana) is sold to Europe or any other club at a higher price above the price Sekhukhune United sold him to Esperance then they will get a percentage of the money. So for now the interest from Belgium is not just good for the player or Esperance but also for Sekhukhune United,” said a second source.
