The broadcast details for Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Congo-Brazzaville have been confirmed.
The South Africans host the Congolese at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on the day.
Kick-off is at 19:00.
Hugo Broos’ men know the importance of winning this encounter in order for them to stand a good chance of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON finals.
As things stand, they are on four points from their opening two matches of the qualifiers.
The pressure is more on Broos’ charges to qualify for the finals in Morocco given their heroics in Côte d’Ivoire.
BAFANA BAFANA VS CONGO-BRAZZAVILLE: HOW TO WATCH THE MATCH
Now, this crucial encounter between the two nations in Gqeberha will be screened LIVE on SABC 2.
SABC Sport, the official TV rights holders, confirmed that the match will also be available on SABC+.
The news means every South African football fan with a TV will have access to the game.
THEMBA ZWANE: HUGE MILESTONE AWAITS STAR ATTACKER
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Themba Zwane is set for a huge international milestone.
Zwane is one match away from reaching 50 caps for Bafana Bafana, meaning he’s currently on 49.
Of course, the 35-year-old won’t be the first player to feature in 50 international matches for the 1996 AFCON winners.
Former captain Aaron Mokoena remains the most capped player with 107 caps followed by Itumeleng Khune at 91.
What makes Zwane’s 50-match milestone interesting is the fact that he will equal the number of games Doctor Khumalo played for the country.
This is interesting in the sense that there is a continued debate on who is a better player between Zwane and Khumalo.
Khumalo played for Kaizer Chiefs for many years, and was also instrumental in helping South Africa win the 1996 AFCON title.
Zwane, on the other hand, has a bronze AFCON medal recently won with Bafana Bafana at the 2023 AFCON tournament.
Now, Zwane, in 49 matches, has scored 12 goals to date while Khumalo scored nine goals in his 50 international matches.
