Cape Town fans have been waiting for almost 10 years. Bafana Bafana will be in town on 19 November.
AFCON 2025 QUALIFIER: BAFANA BAFANA VS SOUTH SUDAN
According to iDiski Times, Hugo Broos‘ team will play their AFCON 2025 qualifier against South Sudan at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
The last time Bafana Bafana played at the venue was back in 2015, before a reported fallout between the South African Football Association (SAFA) and the City of Cape Town municipal officials.
“This publication has reliably learnt that Bafana are set to face South Sudan in Cape Town after many of their home games had taken place in Gauteng over the last few years,” the outlet reported.
With two matches to go in Group K, South Africa need three points from two matches to qualify for the tournament in Morocco next June.
Bafana Bafana’s previous two matches were held in Bloemfontein and Gqeberha. The events ended a sustained period in Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal for several years.
LATEST SQUAD
In the meantime, Bafana Bafana coach Broos has named his preliminary squad of 38 players to face Uganda away and South Sudan in Cape Town in November.
New faces include Thabang Matuludi, Ndamulelo Maphangule (both Polokwane City), Sage Stephens, Ashley Cupido (both Stellenbosch FC), and Yanela Mbuthuma (Richards Bay FC).
The Belgian coach will announce his final Bafana Bafana squad of 23 players next Monday.
