Former Kaizer Chiefs star Eric Mathoho is making headlines against the backdrop of his financial woes with the bank.
BANK GOES AFTER FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS STAR’S CAR
With an illustrious stint spanning years in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Eric Mathoho has starred for several clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs.
Thanks to his huge social media following, Tower often trends he posts or gets posted online. The bubbly defender is trending after his financial woes made the rounds.
Eric Mathoho is reportedly failing to settle the instalments for one of his cars.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star, who reportedly earned around R2.6 million annually, failed to pay his loan.
According to reports, Standard Bank has taken Eric Mathoho to court, where he was asked to hand over his VW Polo sedan after he failed to pay the instalment of more than R5 000.
The South African has since established that he once received a loan of more than R250 000 to buy the 2019 model.
However, the total agreement, including interest, costs and charges, would be R380 000. The former Kaizer Chiefs star who was reportedly earning around R220 000 is struggling to settle the loan.
OTHER TROUBLED FOOTBALLERS
However, Eric Mathoho joins a host of footballers who have been dragged to court for failing to settle their instalments.
Last year, former Orlando Pirates striker Mpho Makola was reportedly drowning in debts.
Sunday World reported that he was on the verge of losing his R1.5 million house after failing to pay back a loan.
The publication has it that he obtained from SB Guarantee Company, a subsidiary of Standard Bank.
Sunday World reported that SB Guarantee Company filed papers at the Johannesburg High Court to seek a default judgment and an order to attach and sell Mpho Makola‘s R1.5 million house.
The house is in Buccleuch, north of Johannesburg.
Like Eric Mathoho, Andile Jali and former Orlando Pirates star Thabo Qalinge are notable names that have made headlines for the wrong reasons.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Thabo Qalinge was set to lose his R4 million mansion after he dribbled homeowners of Eye of Africa of their levies.
