Benni McCarthy returns to South Africa!

Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy has returned to South Africa amid huge speculation around his coaching future.

McCarthy is currently unattached to any team following his departure from Premier League giants Manchester United.

He served as Man United’s attacker’s coach, and following his departure, there had been reports of him returning to the PSL.

Initially, Mamelodi Sundowns were reports to be courting McCarthy while teams from North Africa and Major League Soccer (MLS).

McCarthy previously broke his silence about his intentions and dreams now that he is not contracted to any team.

Now, according to Soccer Laduma, McCarthy’s back in the country because he’s been roped in by SuperSport TV.

He will provide analysis for UEFA Champions League, and his return has nothing to do with his coaching options.

Nonetheless, one cannot rule out the possibility of McCarthy negotiating with any of the teams reported to be keen on his services.

And that’s because there were previous reports that Sundowns officials even travelled to Europe to hold talks with McCarthy.

It is also worth mentioning that Sundowns have done well since those reports surfaced. They top the Beltway Premiership standings.

Furthermore, McCarthy’s former club AmaZulu on Monday sacked Pablo Franco Martin, meaning they are on the lookout for a coach.

However, chances of him returning to Usuthu for a second spell might be nonexistent given Sandile Zungu’s comments after he left.

At the time, AmaZulu appointed Romain Folz, and Zungu is on record to say Folz was a better coach for them than McCarthy.

That despite the retired striker guiding AmaZulu to a second-place finish and CAF Champions League qualification.

WILL ANY PSL TEAM JUMP AT THIS OPPORTUNITY?
