MANY brides add a dress code to their wedding invitations to help guests – but one woman has been labelled “insecure” for her dress code demands.
A guest from the wedding took to Reddit to share how the bride had given strict instructions for “no boobs, no legs” to be on show.

Although the wedding was described as the guest as a “formal” celebration, many people have slammed the bride for her “controlling” command.
One wrote: “The bride sounds like an insecure lunatic.”
Another added: “This seems really b****y. Formal means long and weddings mean don’t have massive cleavage, so I wouldn’t like the implication people don’t know how to dress themselves. “If it means ‘extremely high necklines only’ then that’s really an unreasonable request and very controlling.”
A third commented: “I think it’s beyond rude as well. Like, if you got big boobs this is an extremely limiting rule.”
However, one person defended the bride and said they had a right to choose a dress code for their event.
They shared: “The bride did nothing wrong.”
The wedding guest gave further context to the event, which they said was a spring wedding at a winery.
They posted photos of a dress which complied with the dress code at the front, but asked if it was appropriate to wear.
Despite their hesitation, the guest said the bride was happy about the backless element.
People were quick to chime in, and offer advice on the green, long-sleeved, open-backed dress.
One person said: “Ngl I feel like if they say no boobs no legs they’re asking for modest. I wouldn’t get a backless dress, personally.”
However, one wrote: “That’s beautiful! Go for it.”
Fabulous’ fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend said that when it comes to weddings, sheer dresses should be avoided.
She advised: “Teasing a little bit of flesh is fine at a wedding but if you end up plonked next to old Uncle Arthur you’ll regret wearing that revealing sheer look.
Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

- Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
- Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.
“A tasteful cleavage or even a sophisticated cut-out is perfectly acceptable, but see through frocks that you think have covered you up are not.
“No one wants to cop an eye full of your chest – well most people don’t – when they’re tucking into their prawn cocktail. It’s trashy.
“And later on when you’re cutting loose on the dancefloor under the bright disco lights, what was once sheer will now be completely see through.
“Also, the majority of sheer fabrics are made from synthetic fibres like polyester which after a couple of hours of wear can start to get a bit whiffy, no matter how much deodorant you lather yourself in.”
