Putin ‘met with shamans in Mongolia to ask about using nukes’

Vladimir Putin has a ‘special attitude to mysticism and even consulted shamans before unleashing nuclear weapons, Russian sources have revealed.

The Russian president reportedly visited shamans, who claim they can communicate with the spiritual world, in Mongolia and Siberia to discuss military tactics.

He even sought their blessing to use nuclear weapons while on his trip to Mongolia as he was afraid of ‘angering the spirits’, Russian opposition figures have said.

The Russian premier visited Mongolia as part of a risky trip as the country is a member state of the International Criminal Court which issued a warrant for his arrest last year.

But Mongolian officials failed to detain him, claiming their dependence on the former Soviet nation for energy is too great for them to act on the warrant.

Mikhail Zygar, the founder of banned opposition channel TV Dozhd, said Putin’s reason for making such a risky trip was to consult shamans.

He wrote in Der Spiegel: ‘Mongolia and Tuva are considered the home of the most powerful shamans in the world.

‘Vladimir Putin has long been known for his special attitude towards mysticism.

‘And he apparently combines his interest in Orthodox mysticism with pagan traditions.’

Zygar even said Putin sought the advice of mystics before launching his invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

He wrote: ‘All of them assured him of a military victory.’

Last year state media reported Russia’s chief shaman, Kara-ool Dopchun-ool, asked ‘the sun, the moon and the stars’ to protect the Kremlin’s troops in Ukraine.

Former Kremlin speech writer Abbas Gallyamov said he also received similar information.

He wrote on Telegram: ‘In addition to receiving a blessing to use nuclear weapons (the weapons of the gods), Putin was also interested in the question of his own longevity, as well as reincarnation.

‘He was said to be very pleased with the meetings and the rituals performed.’

All the meetings with the shamans were organised by Putin’s ally Mikhail Kovalchuk, who a Kremlin source has recently described as ‘crazy about eternal life’.

This is not the first time Putin is reported to have tapped into his mystic side.

In 2019, shaman-warrior Alexander Gabyshev was arrested and detained in a psychiatric ward for trying to walk 5,000 miles through Siberia to the Kremlin so he ‘exorcise the demon Putin’ in 2021.

His lawyer Alexander Pryanishnikov said: ‘I’m absolutely convinced that influential figures in law enforcement and security agencies are afraid of all these not entirely understandable and irrational threats linked to shamanistic rituals.’

Gabyshev remains in hospital despite being deemed to not be a danger to himself or anyone else.

‘It seems that the main reason the authorities are not easing the pressure on him is this fear of rites and rituals,’ Pryanishnikov said.
