My house was professionally damp-proofed but I still had slugs in my kitchen – an Amazon buy stopped them coming in

AS the temperature drops, homeowners may notice an increase in slugs entering their homes.

These tough-skinned molluscs are drawn to cosy, warm spaces away from the cold weather, and they are particularly attracted to damp environments such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Slugs tend to creep in through gaps under doors, cracks in walls, and other small openings that serve as entry points.

This can be a nightmare for homeowners, as no one wants to accidentally step on a slug on their kitchen floor.

One individual is currently experiencing this issue now that the colder days have arrived.

She turned to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group to seek advice after discovering a slug on her kitchen floor.

The woman wrote: “Is it now a thing to have slugs in your house?

“I’ve had damp proofing done and still got them; they only seem to be on the damp proofed side of my kitchen.”

Many people quickly responded in the comments section to share their advice, having experienced the same problem.

One person suggested a cheap Amazon purchase that she found helpful.

They attached a picture of the EcoWidow Natural Slug and Snail Repellent Killer Spray, which costs £13.50.

The product claims to be an effective, fast-acting alternative to slug killer pellets and copper tape. It is also said to be ideal for gardens, plants, and vegetables.

The individual recommending this product wrote: “We had loads when we moved into our new house.

“Apparently, they have a great sense of smell and are attracted to dog food. The previous owners had dogs

“We’ve used this spray around doors and even put copper tape down (used for plant pots), we haven’t seen any for a few weeks now.”

On Amazon, the spray has received an overall rating of 4.1 out of 5.

I’ve had slugs coming into my ground floor for 16 years, despite getting a new floor

Reviewer

One reviewer wrote: “I highly recommend this product. I used it indoors and outdoors.

“Outdoors, there has been a very noticeable reduction in the number of slugs in my garden and on the fence.

“I don’t need to spray it around so much now – just occasionally. I had a problem with slugs in my new house for several weeks until I found their entry points and blocked them up.

“This product worked really well – slugs don’t get past where you spray it.

Sprayed once

“Smells pleasant so doesn’t cause any issues using it indoors, and does a great job dealing with the slugs.”

Another added: “I’ve had slugs coming into my ground floor for 16 years, despite getting a new floor.

“No idea where they got in, but every morning there were slug trails everywhere. I bought this based on reviews.

“Sprayed once around the edges of the rooms and inside the bin.

“Found about 20 dead, dried-up slugs over the first few days and now nothing.

“I actually quite like the smell too, unlike some other reviewers. And it doesn’t linger. This is what I would call a perfect product.”

5 Money-saving tips for autumn/winter

1. Draught-proof your home

It takes time and money to heat up your home, so it’s important that you do as much as you can to keep in the warmth. Close your doors and windows, and fill any gaps with a draught excluder.

2. Dial down your thermostat

According to Energy UK, turning down your thermostat by just one degree Celsius could cut your heating bill by up to 10%, and save you around £85 per year. Plus, if you don’t have a thermostat, installing one could save up to £70 per year!

3. Move furniture around

Make sure not big, bulky furniture like sofas are blocking radiators.

4. Wash clothes on a lower temp and add an extra spin

Unless it’s bedding, towels or really dirty items, dial down the temperature to 20 or 30 degrees, and do a double spin to remove excess water.

5. Heat the person not the home

There’s not point heating up a room that no one is sitting in, so be mindful about which radiators are on.

‘Puppet master’ Diddy behaved like ‘cult leader’, says ex-Playboy model Rachel Kennedy who went to ‘Freak Off’ sex party

AN ex-Playboy model has labelled Diddy a “puppet master” that allegedly behaved like a “cult leader” in a bombshell interview.

Rachel Kennedy had a sexual encounter with Sean “Diddy” Combs before getting violently ejected from the room, she claims – as the disgraced music mogul watched on.

The disgraced music mogul, 54, is currently being held in a Brooklyn jail cell as he faces criminal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Speaking on the Daily Mail podcast The Trial of Diddy, ex-model Rachel Kennedy says she met Combs in 2000 while she worked as a dancer at a topless club in Seventh Heaven in Tokyo, Japan.

After Combs visited the club, Rachel said he invited her and a couple of friends to a “party” in his hotel room.

It was here that Combs allegedly took Rachel and another woman into a bedroom, where he proceeded to “get naked” and were instructed to “go down on him”.

Rachel clarified that the encounter was consensual and that there was “nothing forceful about it”.

Following the sexual encounter, Rachel claims an unnamed person entered the room enraged and proceeded to violently eject the women from the room – while Combs allegedly looked on.

Rachel said the unnamed person “was just so violent and so angry”.

She added: “We just couldn’t believe what was happening. We were in shock.

“First of all, how does he have that much access to Puff Daddy’s room? That’s the first thing I thought. How does he just come in like that?”

Reflecting on the violent experience with Combs’ posse, she alleges that the musician “teaches them” the behavior as “he’s their boss”.

She said: “He is the puppet master of this and this is why people think it’s okay because he’s teaching them that this kind of behaviour is acceptable.

“He’s like a cult leader, and these people are his disciples.”

Rachel also mentioned the gut-wrenching video showing Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway in relation to her own violent experience with the music mogul’s “people”.

Speaking more widely about the accusations against Combs, she added: “His people, if not physically participating in this, they’re participating in just knowing.”

Before the violent encounter, Rachel claims that when she entered Combs’ hotel room, a Jennifer Lopez music video was playing on TV – on a bizarre continuous loop which she called “creepy”.

Combs and Lopez were dating at the time and he was one of the producers who worked on her debut album On the 6 the previous year.

Combs’ representatives have been approached for comment.

The rapper has denied all the allegations against him and remains in jail after being twice denied bail.

For more than a decade, the billionaire producer used to invite Hollywood’s A-listers to his legendary bashes.

None of the celebrities in attendance to Diddy’s parties have been accused of any wrongdoing.

There is also no suggestion that any celebrities or partygoers were aware of the music mogul’s alleged abuse.

It comes after male escorts claiming to have taken part in Diddy’s “Freak Offs” have reportedly been “spilling intricate details” to the feds on the debauched sex parties, a source said.

The men, around 20 at the time, were “all too happy to talk” and seemed to have vivid and similar memories of the wild bashes – including the drugs that were allegedly supplied.

A federal law enforcement source digging into his parties has now said they have been interviewing the male escorts – now in their 40s.

The performers were asked about their recollections of the Freak Offs, what they were paid to do, and who else was involved, the source said.

The insider told The New York Post: “They’re all too happy to talk.

“I’m surprised how many of them can recall intricate details about what happened.”

The source claimed the men were allegedly “encouraged” to take medication including Viagra and Cialis before the parties.

“They were expected to perform and were told if they didn’t perform, they’d be thrown out of the party and not paid,” the New York Post source continued.

Investigators are yet to determine whether any of the performers in Diddy’s Freak Offs were illegally coerced to perform or underage.

The U.S. Sun has approached representatives for Combs for comment.

WHAT ARE DIDDY’S FREAK OFFS?

According to prosecutors, Combs threw wild parties he called “freak offs” where he would fly in sex workers for days of raucous sessions.

However once at the party, workers would be coerced through money and intimidated into performing sick nonconsensual acts, the indictment claims.

Combs organized and directed these parties in part, prosecutors allege, so he could record sex acts while he masturbated.

After days of non-stop drug use and drinking, participants were often mailed IV bags to help recover from the revelry, the indictment claims.

The indictment references key pieces of evidence federal agents found during their raids of the rapper’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami Beach, Florida.

According to the indictment, the rapper had 1,000 bottles of lubricant and baby oil in his two homes alongside a stash of narcotics that were used during the sex parties.

Agents also found three AR-15s with their serial numbers defaced and a drum magazine, the indictment says.

But Combs’ attorney has spoken out to claim the cops are targeting the sick rapper due to his race.

Lawyer Marc Agnifilo told TMZ that feds are just looking to take down Combs because he’s a “successful black man”.

He claims that investigators couldn’t find anything relating to his taxes or business so looked elsewhere – to his bedroom.

Diddy's Downfall

By The U.S. Sun's Senior Reporter Forrest McFarland, who has been reporting on Diddy's legal battles for years

BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest, it had been highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.

His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”

Hours before his arrest, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed the feds investigating Combs were secretly liaising with Tupac Shakur murder prosecutors on gangland activities.

The development also came after Combs was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.

Aside from the Tupac probe, Combs was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.

Disturbing hotel surveillance video from 2016 showed Combs chasing Cassie down and then punching, kicking, and beating her in a hallway.

Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Combs’ mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.

In addition to his federal criminal charges, Combs also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.

Music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Combs forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.

He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.

Eamonn Holmes shares snap with grandchildren after he and girlfriend Katie exchanged flirty messages 12 years ago

EAMONN Holmes shared a sweet photo with his grandchildren as the extent of his new romance with Katie Alexander comes to light.

Yesterday The Sun revealed that the TV presenter, 64, started exchanging flirty online messages with Katie 12 years ago.

Ruth Langsford found messages between him and another woman on a laptop[/caption]

The Sun on Sunday told in May how Eamonn’s 14-year marriage to Loose Women favourite Ruth Langsford collapsed after she found messages between him and another woman on a laptop.

On Saturday, Eamonn posted a photo with his two granddaughters through his son Declan, three-year-old Emilia, and baby Isabella.

The doting grandfather was seen beaming as he held the youngest in his arms and wrapped his other arm around Emilia.

After enjoying some quality family time, the Belfast native wrote: “My two Favourite girls with me at the Cake Shop…Isabella nearly one and Emilia three.”

Eamonn’s fans were touched by the heartwarming photo.

One wrote: “Aww Grandpa Holmes. This pic is definitely one that needs to framed!”

A second posted: “We all love our children but there’s no love like your love for your grand children, lovely photo Eamonn one to be cherished.”

A third added: “It’s so lovely to see you enjoying time with your granddaughters. Their unconditional love for their Grandpa will take away aches and pains better than any pain killers.”

The Sun revealed that Eamonn had exchanged flirty messages with Katie over a decade ago.

When their banter started in 2012 it included Katie’s husband, George.

At one point the businessman even joked to the TV presenter: “Think she’s flirting with you.” And George, a diehard Manchester United fan like Eamonn, added on Twitter: “Good job we’re both Red.”

Last night, a source said: “We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went.

“Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.”

They went on: “Eamonn gets a buzz out of replying to messages from fans. He and Katie had a real connection, and it blossomed into something more.

“But at the outset George joined in with the online banter. He would never have guessed Katie was going to get together with Eamonn years down the line.”

Our latest revelation comes as mum-of-three Katie, 42, showed off her holiday snaps from a seven-day cruise with 64-year-old Eamonn in September.

George, 53, and marriage therapist Katie divorced in 2022 after 12 years together.

He later became aware that Eamonn and Katie were meeting.

It emerged that Eamonn had been showering gifts and treats on Katie and her children in the months before the marriage ended.

She even stayed at a luxury hotel in Surrey just ten minutes from Eamonn’s marital home.

Ruth, 64, now wants a divorce and has hired £400-an-hour lawyer Catherine Costley.

She previously worked under the country’s top divorce lawyer, “Steel Magnolia” Baroness Fiona Shackleton, who represented the King in his split from Diana, as well as Sir Paul McCartney.

Meanwhile, Eamonn is getting ready to make his first red carpet appearance with Katie at the black tie Irish Post Awards at London’s five-star Grosvenor House Hotel on Thursday.

The presenter is hosting the event which will be attended by stars including Micheal Flatley, Una Healey, Laura Whitmore and Bananarama’s Siobhan Fahey.

An insider said: “Katie adores getting dressed up and wearing dresses and heels. It’s a big night for Eamonn and she wants to be there to support him.”
