‘I’ve never seen anything like this’ – Boss pushes Marcelo back to bench after Brazil legend refuses his pre-sub tactics

REAL MADRID and Brazil legend Marcelo was stopped from coming on by his OWN MANAGER after appearing to argue with the coach’s tactics.

The five-time Champions League winner, 36, left the Bernabeu in 2022 after 15 hugely successful years in the Spanish capital.

He joined Olympiacos for one season, before returning to his home country last year when he signed for boyhood club Fluminense.

Marcelo has played 68 games for the Brazilian side – who sit 12th in the top flight.

But he was denied another appearance on Saturday after an incredible touchline spat with manager Mano Menezes.

The left-back was stripped and ready to come on in the 90th minute with Fluminense holding onto a 2-1 lead over Gremio.

Marcelo was preparing to enter the fray as part of a double substitution which also included the introduction of Marquinhos – the winger on loan from Arsenal.

But as Menezes gave Marcelo instructions on the sideline, the ex-Real Madrid man seemed to disagree with what he was being told.

This led to the manager becoming furious, before he pushed Marcelo and told him to sit down again.

Marcelo walked to the bench and pulled his bib back on.

And he ended up watching his team concede a stoppage-time equaliser as Fluminense drew 2-2 with Gremio.

Reacting to Marcelo’s altercation with Menezes, journalist Tancredi Palmeri said: “I have never seen anything similar in elite football.”

While one fan replied: “Respect to the coach for not backing down!”

Another added: “This is so disrespectful.”

And a third said: “As it should be, he’s not bigger than the coach or the club.”

Maya Jama’s huge earnings revealed after TV presenter success

MAYA Jama’s huge earnings have been revealed after her TV presenter success.

Superstar Maya, 30, has emerged as one of the UK’s most sought-after talents since the pandemic, bringing in an impressive £2.5 million last year.

The Love Island host – who also hosted it’s U.S. spin-off, Love Island Games – has made her mark by hosting prestigious events like the BRIT Awards and Comic Relief this year too.

Recently, she secured another major role, being announced as a panellist for The Masked Singer‘s upcoming series.

At just 30 years old, Maya’s income is further boosted by lucrative advertising partnerships, having starred in commercials for major brands such as McDonald’s, Rimmel London, and Dolce & Gabbana.

The savvy beauty has strategically invested her wealth, holding assets worth £407,000, with £1.3 million in savings, and she is owed £630,000 from debtors.

After settling her bills, she maintains over £1.8 million in reserves within her company.

This year, Maya faced a substantial Corporation Tax bill of £493,000, indicative of a taxable income around the £2.5 million mark.

Comparatively, she paid £128,950 in taxes the previous year, highlighting a significant increase in her earnings over the 12 months leading to the end of January 2024.

Business records reveal that her assets soared from £1.6 million last year to £2.35 million this year.

But interestingly, despite her considerable wealth, Maya has valued herself at just £10,000 in company records.

Following her split with long-term partner Stormzy in July, she has only continued to excel in her career.

The savvy entrepreneur recently made headlines for investing in the plant milk brand Sproud, where she will serve as both a strategic adviser and the public face of the Swedish company.

And, earlier this year, The Sun revealed she would launch a range of hair extensions with Beauty Works.

A source said at the time: “Everything Maya touches turns to gold and companies are fighting to work with her. She has signed a six-figure deal with Beauty Works to be the face of their hair extensions for the rest of this year.

“It’s a clever move for Maya. She is very selective about who she works for and they have to make sense for her brand.

“She has her beauty deal with Rimmel and her fashion endorsement with Dolce & Gabbana, which have both banked her huge sums.”

We revealed last summer how Maya had banked her first million thanks to her savvy business deals, which includes her own brand of eye masks.

Speaking about her success, the presenter – who bought a lavish mansion in 2024 – admitted she still had to remind herself it was real.

She said: “It’s all just a bit mental. I still have moments where I say, ‘What the hell is going on?’, and pinch myself.”

This week, she was also recognised in Heat magazine’s annual 30 under 30 Rich List, securing the 15th spot with a personal fortune of £8.1 million.

It comes after the announcement that Sally Hawkins who plays Mrs Brown in Paddington will not be re-joining the cast for the third movie.

The actress said she felt it was time to hand over the reigns to someone else.

However, it seems she didn’t take the decision lightly as Sally told Variety: “I already greatly miss my on and off-screen family – the experience of making the first two films has truly been some of the best and most creative times I have had in the world of film.

“They both gave me so much joy.

“I will forever hold them so very close to my heart indeed.”

Instead, Emily Mortimer will play Mrs Brown for the third film.

Speaking about her replacement, Sally said: “For me it has felt the right time to hand the reins over to another, and one can’t get much better than the truly wonderful Emily Mortimer, she is extraordinarily special.

“She will embody the essence of Mary Brown and yet make it utterly her own.

“However, I am, and will always be in love with Paddington’s world.”

Paddington in Peru will be released in UK cinemas on November 8, 2024 and in US cinemas on January 17, 2025.

June 2024 saw the first trailer released to the public.

The synopsis reads: “Paddington and his adopted family, the Browns, decide to visit his aunt Lucy in Peru, but circumstances lead them towards misadventures in the Amazon rainforest and mountains of Peru.”
