3 days until America decides… and Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris is still achingly close
THE pollsters would have us believe the battle between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is so close, it could come down to something as small as an apostrophe.
Like an old drunk shouting on a park bench, Joe Biden has roared back into the White House race in its final furlong for all the wrong reasons.
If Trump does win next week, I think we will all look back at the moment he dressed as a binman in a garbage truck[/caption] Kamala Harris has retreated to the lefty comfort zone of screaming ‘fascist’ at Trump[/caption]In a spectacular glimpse at what a disaster keeping Geriatric Joe as Democratic candidate would have been, him branding Trump supporters “garbage” this week could not have come at a worse time.
After a comic at a Trump rally referred to Puerto Rico as an “island of garbage”, Biden was quoted as saying: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] supporters.”
But the President and his army of Democrat apologists spun it with a spot of punctuation, saying what he actually meant was: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter’s.”
However, the damage was done and suddenly cackling Kamala was laughing on the other side of her face.
Pure poison
Leaving aside the fact this guy somehow still has his finger on the nuclear button, and is trying to negotiate peace in the Middle East, politically Biden’s gaffe is pure poison.
Whether he meant it or not, millions of Americans heard him say it.
In a race where the votes of as few as 200,000 of them could swing it either way, even the Democrats’ biggest TV cheerleaders had to admit it was a major cock-up.
A similar 2016 misstep by Hillary Clinton, suggesting Trump voters were “deplorable”, holed her already struggling campaign and concreted Trump’s first path to the White House.
The problem is, his supporters already think the political and media elites are against them.
And when they appear to say it so blatantly, it unites Trump’s base with a heavy dose of Millwall footie chant: Everyone hates us, but we don’t care.
The most important thing for both candidates in these final days of the campaign is to keep their bases active, angry and determined to turn out on Tuesday.
Uniting Trump voters under the banner of “garbage” will do just that — and he knows it.
First, I thought the picture of him being shot in the ear, fist in the air, would be the iconic image of this election cycle. Then came his shift in McDonald’s.
However, if Trump does win next week, I think we will all look back at the moment he dressed as a binman in a garbage truck, giving an interview through the open window as casually as Harry Redknapp arriving at the training ground.
The Trump-branded bin lorry campaign stunt, turned around in hours, was one of the most amusing in living memory — and one the Democrats seem unable to counter.
Does all the blame really lie with Biden?
Harry Cole
It could end up as totemic as Boris Johnson driving his JCB through the Brexit brick wall in 2019.
And it similarly feels like a candidate and campaign with the right amount of self-confidence to triumph.
Harris, meanwhile, has retreated to the lefty comfort zone of screaming “fascist” at Trump, praying the abortion issue stirs up enough in the final days to prop her up.
Yet the Biden incident did not happen in a vacuum, with Joe meant to be helping his vice-president by highlighting the comic aiming the “G” word at Puerto Ricans.
Given there are half a million of them living in the key swing state of Pennsylvania, you can see why the Democrats were so keen to get the row going, initially. But is it too little, too late?
The Trump-branded bin lorry campaign stunt was one of the most amusing in living memory[/caption] Like an old drunk shouting on a park bench, Joe Biden has roared back into the White House race[/caption]While Trump’s rollercoaster campaign finally seems to be firing properly at the most crucial time, Harris’s efforts appear more akin to poor Rishi Sunak standing in the rain.
But does all the blame really lie with Biden?
If Harris does crash and burn on Tuesday, the post-mortem could be pretty easy — she’s just been a bit rubbish. We can argue Biden bowing out earlier may have given her a better crack of the whip.
However, she didn’t have to adopt his campaign staff and messaging wholesale as she did. And she was most popular when she was saying nothing and not doing interviews in August and September.
Not only has she raised more money than Trump, she has daily adoration from an embarrassing number of slavish US networks. Yet still this race is, as one pollster describes it, “achingly close”.
Scarlett Maguire, of JL Partners, adds: “The momentum in the final few weeks of the campaign has been with Trump.
‘Slender lead’
“It now looks harder for Harris to win the Electoral College through the Sun Belt states of Arizona, Nevada and South Carolina. Instead, her best route will be through the Blue Wall of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Even that does not look straightforward. Whilst polling in Michigan and Wisconsin shows Harris with a consistent but slender lead over Trump, Pennsylvania consistently comes back as a dead heat.”
And Betfair’s Sam Rosbottom says punters reckon Harris is blowing this.
He told me last night: “Trump is the favourite in five of the seven key swing states, the pair are neck and neck in the betting in Wisconsin, and the odds have swung in Harris’ favour this week in Michigan.
“If the punters are spot on, then Trump looks set to win the Electoral College by a substantial margin.”
Not long to go now . . .
Watch as Stacey Solomon leaves Joe Swash horrified by putting up their Christmas decorations in November
STACEY Solomon has left Joe Swash horrified in a hilarious new video, after putting up her Christmas decorations on the November 1.
The TV star posted a video to her social media, which started with a completely black screen.
Stacey Solomon has left Joe Swash horrified in a hilarious new video, after putting up her Christmas decorations on the November 1[/caption] Stacey dressed in festive attire and swung around in her chair[/caption] The star covered herself in fairy lights[/caption]Writing across the screen read: “POV: You have some me time for 10 minutes and it’s the 1st November…”
All fans can hear is Stacey’s husband Joe walking into the room shouting: “Stace? Stacey?” as he looked around Pickle Cottage for his presenter wife.
He then flings open the door and shouts: “Stace, where are ya?” and to his horror the whole room lights up with Christmas decorations, as Stacey swirls around in a chair.
As he walks in, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas can be heard playing, and there’s a Christmas tree and festive fairy lights all over the room.
Stacey is seated in a cosy armchair in a Santa hat, but Joe is unimpressed as he shouts: “Stacey I’ve been calling you for ten minutes.”
He yells: “What the hell is this?” as he points to all of the festive décor, including ‘deck the halls’ cushions.
Stacey is covered in baubles and ignores Joe, instead belting out Maria’s iconic Christmas hit.
A flustered Joe stares at his wife in disbelief as he yells: “Stacey? It’s the first of November.”
Fans were in hysterics at Stacey’s home glow up, as one wrote: “Sorry but I’m with Joe. Really funny tho.”
A second penned: “Pahhhhh this is hilarious. Last night you had a pumpkin jumper on and today… This… I am dying.”
A third said: “Most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen.”
Mum-of-five Stacey captioned her post: “Happy 1st November everyone spare a thought for how long I had to wait for Joe to actually get up and find me Also nearly dropped my speaker trying to be more Mariah ”
Stacey is no stranger to putting decorations up early before events.
In September, The TV star, 34, decided to start spooky season early, by decorating her whole house ready for Halloween.
Taking to Instagram Stacey shared a video of herself rolling her eyes whilst Joe moaned on at her.
“It’s months before Halloween, I’m not walking around in a ghost house”, Joe fumed.
“It’s either Halloween or me.”
The video then switched to a clip of Stacey lying on her bed giggling, whilst surrounded by an abundance of Halloween decorations.
“Me and my husband every September 1st”, Stacey said.
“We all knew who I’d chose. Happy September everyone.
“My favourite time of the year is coming!”
But her fans insisted that it was far too early for Halloween festivities.
One wrote: “As lovely as the range looks Stace and as much as I love you…please, no.”
A second posted: “It’s September. Halloween is in October. Let’s stop making 1 day holidays 2 months long.”
A third commented: “I’m with Joe on this one !! Why rush the summer we waited so long for it to arrive!”

MILLIONS of Tesco customers have been urged to use their clubcard vouchers before they expire on November 30.
However, a simple trick could see shoppers extend their vouchers or potentially double its value.
Tesco customers can extend their vouchers with a simple trick[/caption]More than £18million in vouchers still need to be used before the end of the month.
Martin Lewis reveals the simple tricks to extending Tesco’s Clubcard vouchers.
You’ll need to extend your vouchers by 11.59pm on Saturday November 30.
There are three options to extend the rewards beyond the expiry date:
- Make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page (not in store or on other Tesco pages) or donate to one of its partner charities. The remaining balance is credited back to your Clubcard account as points. So if you spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you’ll get 450 points back (worth £4.50).
- You can then swap your points for vouchers manually or wait for them to be converted with your next statement. The expiry date for these new vouchers will be two years in the future.
- There’s no minimum spend, but the aim’s to shell out as little as possible. A good option might be a 50p restaurant voucher (worth £1 at your chosen restaurant).
Alternatively, you can double the value of your vouchers by spending them at Tesco’s Reward Partners, such as Disney+, Legoland, and Pizza Express.
For example, 500 points are usually worth £5 to spend at Tesco – but if you exchange your vouchers for codes to use with a Reward Partner, 500 points are worth £10.
Shoppers on the Clubcard scheme receive vouchers after spending in-store or online, with every 150 points worth £1.50.
These vouchers can be used on your weekly food shop and with any number of Tesco‘s partners including PizzaExpress and Hotels.com.
Any vouchers spent with a Tesco partner are also worth two times their normal value.
How does Tesco’s Clubcard work?
You earn points as you shop, which can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or with Tesco’s partners.
You earn one point for each £1 spent, and each point is then worth 1p.
So 150 points gets you £1.50, and you would have to spend £150 to get 150 points.
You need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.
Any vouchers are worth their face value when used in-store at Tesco.
But you can double their worth by spending them at one of the supermarket chain’s partners.
There are over 100 partners you can spend your Clubcard points with, including the RAC, Disney+ and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
Points spent with partners used to be worth triple value, but Tesco changed this to double last year.
Any vouchers transferred into Reward Partner codes expire after six months.
Loyalty card holders also get access to over 8,000 items for less through Clubcard Prices.
RECLAIM LOST CLUBCARD POINTS
Many people lose or forget to use their Tesco vouchers, but there’s an easy way to claw back the last two years of unused vouchers.
Here’s exactly how to find out if you have any unused vouchers.
The first step is to log into your Tesco Clubcard account on Tesco.com or via the Clubcard app.
You’ll need your name, email address and Clubcard number to hand.
Once you’ve logged in, navigate to “My Clubcard Account” and then click on “Vouchers” to see a full list of any vouchers you still have to spend.
You can use the code included in your voucher to spend online.
If you want to redeem them in-store, you’ll need to print them off and take them with you.
What can I get with Tesco Clubcard?
TESCO’S Clubcard scheme allows shoppers to earn points as they shop.
These points can then be turned into vouchers for money off food at the supermarket, or discounts at other places like restaurants and days out.
Each time you spend £1 in-store and online, you get one point when you scan your Clubcard.
Drivers using the loyalty card get one point for every two litres spent on fuel.
One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you a £1.50 money-off voucher, for example.
You can double their worth when you swap them for discounts with “reward partners”.
For example, £12 worth of vouchers can be swapped for a £24 three-month subscription to Disney+.
Or you can swap 50p worth of points for £1 to spend at Hungry Horse pubs.
Where you can spend them changes regularly, and you can check on the Tesco website what’s available now.
Tesco shoppers can also get Clubcard prices when they have the loyalty card.
The discounted items change regularly and without a Clubcard you’ll pay a higher price.
These Clubcard prices are usually labelled on shelves, along with the non-member price.
But it’s worth noting that just because it’s discounted doesn’t necessarily make it the cheapest around, and you should compare prices to find the best deal.
You can sign up to get a Tesco Clubcard in store or online via the Tesco website.
