Labour MP Mike Amesbury ‘could be CHARGED’ after punching constituent to the ground on a night out

PROSECUTORS are considering whether to charge Labour MP Mike Amesbury after he punched a constituent.

A CCTV clip showed Amesbury hitting Cheshire man Paul Fellows  while he lays on the pavement at 2.15am on Saturday.

Amesbury has been an MP since 2017

The incident took place in his constituency of Runcorn and Helsby, Cheshire.

Amesbury and the constituent are believed to have clashed over the temporary closure of a local bridge and winter fuel allowance cuts.

Cheshire Police said they submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service on Tuesday and await their decision on whether or not to charge the MP, The Telegraph reports.

A spokesman said: “Cheshire Police received reports of an assault in Main Street, Frodsham, at 2.48am on Saturday 26 October.

“An investigation was immediately undertaken and a 55-year-old man was voluntarily interviewed under caution by police in relation to this incident.

“A file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service on Tuesday 29 October for their consideration and we are awaiting their decision.”

Earlier this week The Sun reported how the constituent punched by Amesbury broke his silence.

Mr Fellows, 42, spoke out after being spotted for the first time since the late-night brawl.

He told MailOnline: “I have spoken to police but whether I’m going to speak to them again I’d rather keep that to myself.”

It comes after Amesbury is said to have told onlookers “Was I not supposed to snap?” following the brawl.

Amesbury previously claimed he “felt threatened” before the attack at 2.15am on Saturday.

Hours before the brawl, Amesbury posed for snaps with the local police commissioner.

The MP said he was “listening to residents’ concerns and ideas for policing and community safety”.

Labour say they’ll ‘smash gangs’… instead they’re smashing constituents, Tory blasts

OUTRAGE has erupted over shocking footage of Labour MP Mike Amesbury appearing to punch one of his constituents.

A shocking CCTV clip shows Amesbury hitting a man up to six times while he lays on the pavement.

Tory leadership hopeful Robert Jenrick said Amesbury should not be an MP following the brawl.

Jenrick previously told the Mail: “Labour said they’d smash the gangs. It looks like they’re smashing their constituents instead.

“There is no way you can remain an MP if you’re beating up constituents after a night out.”

Amesbury claimed he “felt threatened” before the attack at 2.15am on Saturday in his constituency of Runcorn and Helsby, Cheshire.

It was earlier this week confirmed he has been suspended as a member of the Labour Party.

Confirming his suspension, A Labour Spokesperson said: “Mike Amesbury MP has been assisting Cheshire Police with their inquiries following an incident on Friday night.

“As these inquiries are now ongoing, the Labour Party has administratively suspended Mr Amesbury’s membership of the Labour Party pending an investigation.”

Sir Keir Starmer said the incident was “shocking” and defended Labour’s decision to suspend him.

Mike Amesbury and Cheshire Police have been contacted for comment.

The CPS confirmed they had received a file from Cheshire Police in relation to an incident in Frodsham on Saturday 26 October.

Norwich’s Kellen Fisher reveals maddest moments – from dinner with Delia to team-mate getting egged in dressing room

DEFENDER Kellen Fisher has revealed tales from his time at Norwich including having dinner with former owner Delia Smith and team-mates being egged in the dressing room.

The right-back, 20, joined Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side in 2023 from Bromley.

He has already racked up 23 appearances for the club and helped them reach the play-offs last season.

They lost in the semi-finals to Leeds – a club whose fans he is full of praise for in SunSport’s exclusive interview.

Both on and off the pitch Fisher has a host of stories to tell – from dressing up as a zebra to playing on a “mud bath”.

Here are some of the trials and tribulations of Championship life seen by Fisher – in his own words.

Best ever EFL player?

Gabriel Zara, he was on another level last year.

You see some of the goals he scored last year, you’d think ‘What a player he is’.

Wildest night out?

On our Christmas do, we went to Winter Wonderland and we all had to dress up as a certain letter.

Luckily got a Z, which was a zebra. So we all started walking around Winter Wonderland in these funny costumes.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

I think Shane Duffy was dressed up as Goldilocks or something.

Maddest dressing room tale?

It was Callum Doyle’s birthday and Borja Sainz told me to start filming and I didn’t know what was going on either.

Borja Sainz comes through behind him and throws three eggs and he said it was his birthday.

To be fair, Callum wasn’t too happy.

Wildest owner antics?

When I first joined the club, the player liaison Phil said to me that Delia wanted to have dinner with my family before one of the games just to get to know everyone.

I think she makes that effort with everyone to meet everyone’s families.

I think it was steak pie and I think mash and gravy.

Iconic training ground tale?

I’d say one of the coaches scoring a worldie. One of the free-kicks, it’s gone over the wall, the keeper’s saved it and it’s come rolling back perfectly for the half volley.

I remember Glyn [Head of Physical Performance for Norwich] just absolutely smashed it and it’s gone flying.

It’s gone flying into the top corner and everyone was a bit shocked.

Best EFL fans?

I think I’ve got to say Leeds.

Last year in the play-off [semi]final, the place was absolutely bouncing.

Dodgiest EFL facilities?

I would say FA Youth Cup when I was at Bromley. The away changing rooms were all painted pink.

I think the pitch we played on wasn’t great either. It was just a mud bath.

Most annoying EFL fans?

I think I have to say Leeds again, in that play-off game.

I was on the bench just warming up, you’d hear little things in your ear in the corner.

Just getting a lot of stick from the home supporters.

Moment that haunts you?

I made a little bit of a mistake in the cup game, FA Cup, Bristol Rovers at home.

I think the ball come to me, the keeper parried it and I’ve controlled it in the box and sort of just panicked and just flicked it around the corner and no one sort of reacted to the ball.

And then a Bristol Rovers player just come onto it and volleyed it into the top corner.

Marler, claimed the pre-game ceremonial dance is “ridiculous” and should be axed.

He wrote on X last Tuesday: “The haka needs binning. It’s ridiculous.

“It’s only any good when teams actually front it with some sort of reply. Like the league boys did last week.”

Following responses, Marler temporarily deactivated his X account.

The Harlequins star went on to return on Wednesday morning, posting: “Context is everything. Just having a bit of fun trying to spark interest in a mega rugby fixture. Some wild responses.”

Marler has been recovering from a broken foot sustained in the summer and will not feature in Saturday’s first Autumn International.

What is the team news?

Henry Slade starts at centre for England against New Zealand despite playing only 54 minutes of club rugby this season.

Slade only returned for Harlequins last weekend after undergoing shoulder surgery in the summer.

England coach Steve Borthwick said: “Sladey is a really important player for us. He’s an experienced Test match player and he’s in fantastic condition.

“With the shoulder surgery he’s had, he’s been able to be run. He’s as fit as I’ve ever seen him.

“He feels in great shape. He’s a player who is energised and he’ll go really well on Saturday.”

Huge pop star reveals she almost got a boob job because doctor said she ‘needed it’ as she opens up on body image battle

JESY Nelson has revealed she almost got a boob job after a doctor told her she “needed” it.

The former Little Mix star opened up about how she deliberated over going under the knife while battling with her self-esteem.

She candidly spoke about her experiences after former Love Island star Anna Vakili and her sister Mandi posted a video in which they said they regretted ever having cosmetic surgery.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Jesy, 33, wrote: “I absolutely adore these two for being so real about this s***.

“I was actually going to get a boob job two years ago because a doctor once told me I needed it.

“I was in a very insecure stage of my life and just wanted to feel loved.

“But I didn’t really know that about myself until I did real work on my inner self that I realised no boob job would fix that.”

The Boyz singer, who is currently on a hiatus from music, went on to say that she is relieved she didn’t go ahead with the procedure.

And it sounds like she is in a much better place than she was at the time.

She continued: “Anyway what I’m trying to say is I’m so, so thankful I never got them done because I know I would have regretted it.

“I’m not against anyone having things done if it genuinely is going to make you happy and feel better because everybody needs to live their life how they want to.

“But please, please, like these two are saying, really think about it because these things can’t be reversed and could cause you to feel worse about yourself.

“We are all born different for a reason and that’s f***ing beautiful.”

Jesy quit Little Mix in 2020 and was the first member of the group to go solo.

Earlier this week, her former bandmate Perrie Edwards opened up about the breakdown of their friendship, after it was revealed they no longer talk.

Perrie, 31, told Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast: “I wrote a song about a friendship I had that I no longer have.

“When you’ve been in that person’s life for years and they’ve had your back, you’ve been through highs, lows and everything, all these experiences, it’s a wild ride but you’ve gone through it together – then poof they’re gone – that’s hard to deal with.

“I struggled a lot with that. It’s really sad, but at the same time these things sometimes happen.

“It does make you think ‘do we try to rectify the situation? Should I reach out? It doesn’t feel like I should, it feels like I should just stay away.’

“It’s a really horrible dynamic to be in.”

HOLLYWOOD and Broadway big-hitter Hugh Jackman is becoming a rock star.

The Aussie actor has announced a 65,000-capacity gig as a headliner at BST Hyde Park in London next summer.

Accompanied by an orchestra, he will perform songs from musicals including Les Miserables, The Boy From Oz, The Music Man and The Greatest Showman.

Tickets for the July 6 gig go on sale on Wednesday and are sure to sell out.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed he covers blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, too – in or out of his Wolverine costume.

MOST people like to dress up for Halloween, but Kylie Jenner decided to dress down by posing nude – just like Demi Moore in 1996 comedy flick Striptease.

Plenty of celebs vied to outdo each other, with Paris Hilton copying her pal Britney Spears from her Baby One More Time video.

THEY say life can change in the blink of an eye and that couldn’t be more true for rising music star Grace Bridie.

The estate agent went viral after posting a TikTok video of her singing Sinead Hartnett’s Unconditional at her dad’s wedding.

And not long afterwards, she was tapped up by producers at US TV singing contest American Idol.

They flew her out to New York to audition in front of the judges, including Lionel Richie.

Speaking to me from her Brighton home, Grace says: “When I got the message, I thought it was a scam.

“But I eventually replied and from there I auditioned on Zoom and they then flew me out to New York.

“Singing for Lionel was crazy. I think it’s just weird because you kind of walk in and you think they’re like play figures. They don’t look real.”

If you check out Grace’s singing voice on her account @GraceBridieMusic, it’s not hard to see why the show is so taken with her.

“It’s so surreal,” Grace adds. “I know this TV show can change my life.

My boss is really supportive of me and allowed me to chase my dreams.

“I guess if I get an opportunity to make it through to the next stages and go on to have success like (2002 American Idol winner) Kelly Clarkson, that is the goal.”

We’ll have to watch the show when it airs to see how Grace gets on, but I suspect the future will be very bright for her.

Motorists have been warned not to transport fireworks in their car boots as Bonfire Night celebrations approach.

Those found with the pyrotechnics in their vehicles could lose points on their licence even if they’re not fined – or worse.

Fireworks are classified as explosives and are considered Class 1 Dangerous Goods under ADR.

This means your average motorist can carrying up to 50kg of fireworks but no more.

Ollie Green from MOT collection company Collect Service Go said: “Making sure they stay dry is essential, as damp fireworks can leak explosive materials, increasing the risk of unpredictable behaviour when ignited.”

He also urged drivers not to leave fireworks in vehicles overnight, especially in poor weather conditions.

Different classifications of fireworks have varying load limits.

UN 0336 fireworks have a small load limit of 333kg, meanwhile, transporting mixed loads of fireworks requires careful calculation to ensure compliance with the 1,000-unit threshold.

Even when transporting smaller amounts restrictions apply.

For example, you must also carry a 2kg fire extinguisher and cannot smoke.

Full ADR compliance is necessary for loads exceeding exempted quantities, including have a specially trained driver and the correct documentation.

Mr Green also explained why drivers should be careful when travelling this bonfire season.

He revealed visibility on the roads decreases dramatically by about 25 per cent – and this can last up to two days.

“When driving during and after firework displays, it’s important for drivers to reduce their speeds and use headlights when visibility is reduced, as well as their front or rear fog lights until conditions improve.” Mr Green added.

The car expert warned motorists could be fined £100 on the spot and be slapped with three penalty points if they are involved in an accident where there is poor visibility.

“In more severe cases, if the driving is deemed careless or dangerous, fines can increase significantly, and penalties can escalate to driving bans or even imprisonment,” he added.

Meanwhile, drivers are just finding out they can avoid paying a parking fine with a little-known loophole – here’s how.

Plus, a warning as been issued to all drivers who accessorise their car that they could risk a £1,000 fine.

Celebs Go Dating future revealed as E4 make decision on long-running reality show

CELEBS Go Dating will be BACK for another series next year.

The E4 popular dating show will return for its 14th series as a new batch of unlucky-in-love celebs join the agency.

Popular stars like Helen Flanagan have been a big hit with viewers[/caption]

The last series was a big hit with popular names including Coronation Street’s Helen Flanagan and MAFS star Ella Morgan.

And bosses are now hoping to replicate the same success for another year, as they begin reaching out to famous faces to take part.

A source told The Sun: “E4 have decided to commission Celebs Go Dating for another series after the huge buzz that the most recent run got.

“A couple of years ago, it was looking like the format had run out of steam, especially with shows like Married At First Sight and Love Island stealing its thunder, but the latest series this summer did really well and got a lot of social media attention too.”

Helen, who caused controversy for having a secret boyfriend on the outside, was one of the major storylines of the series.

They added: “Helen Flanagan’s secret boyfriend scandal, as well as Ella Morgan’s journey to find love, kept viewers hooked, and bosses are really keen to top it next year.

“They are already reaching out to names and are looking to start filming around February.”

The series also featured Love Island star Chris Taylor, Gogglebox‘s Stephen Lustig-Webb, Kyle Walker‘s ex Lauryn Goodman and pop star Jamelia.

One of the standout moments of the show, was Helen’s bombshell confession that she had been dating someone outside of the agency.

The Sun was first to reveal she was “in love” with her new man.

Helen‘s secret romance then played out in full on Celebs Go Dating, in scenes which saw her confess her feelings about former footballer Robbie Talbot, 44, to the programme’s relationship experts.

On ITV’s Lorraine, the mum-of-three was quizzed on the situation – which came as part of her desire to move on following her split with fiance Scott Sinclair, 35.

The couple broke up in October 2022 after their 13-year relationship came to an end.

Yet Helen told ITV host Lorraine Kelly, 64, how her intentions for Celebs Go Dating were pure when she put pen to paper on her deal – despite allegations of “faking” her feelings during her opening show dates.

The actress then addressed how her relationship with Robbie, who played for teams including Morcambe and Burton Albion, had become “really intense” as she started filming the matchmaking series.

Her comments came after we reported that Helen’s boyfriend had been written into the series as a show first.

She dropped the bombshell following a fast-flirting event.

While Married At First Sight favourite Ella found her dream man Alex after a string of dates.

A source previously told The Sun: “Ella and Alex have been inseparable since they met on Celebs Go Dating and have remained together since filming wrapped in July.

“They’ve finally made their relationship official after Ella brought Alex as a plus one to a number of recent high-profile events, such as the Married at First Sight launch.

“Ella has told pals how happy she is and how Alex has made her laugh and feel safe compared to any other man she’s dated.

“He identities as a straight man and just sees Ella for her, as a woman, rather than a label and has been really supportive of her.

“They’ve talked about falling in love and see a future together. Ella has even introduced Alex to her family, as has he.”

Christmas Fashion Tips from an Expert

CLEMMIE Fieldsend, Fashion Editor at Fabulous, has shared her top tips for looking fabulous this Christmas.

AVOID: Christmas jumpers
No longer a novelty gag, they’re now gone back to being naff and have no place at a festive party.
By all means, go all in for Christmas Jumper Day for Save The Children, but never wear it before or after that day.

WEAR: Burgundy
You can’t escape burgundy at this time of year and it’s a luxury, deep and rich colour that is a welcome break from Santa-red at Christmas.
Opt for silky textures or velvet for extra style points.

AVOID: PJs
The trend of feather trimmed co-ords has had its day and is so dated.
Don’t pull out your hair plucked pair this year, and don’t get a new set, instead still go for the satin two-piece but just steer clear of the plumes.

WEAR: Sequin Dress
Try to switch up sequins slightly by wearing them with a different texture or colour, eg a sequin skirt with a sleek knit.
But when you’re really stuck on what to wear reach for the sequins, it is Christmas after all.

AVOID: Sequin blazer
Nothing worse than showing up to a festive do looking like the hired entertainment.
Leave the sequin blazer to magicians and Strictly judges, instead always reach for a classic tux style or velvet.

WEAR: Bling trousers
Last party season embellished jeans with diamante bling had a moment, and this year they’re going to be as much of a hit.
If you don’t want gemstones pinging off wherever you go then try metallic, PU trousers.

Finally, the Cream Velvet Sequin Mini-Dress is priced at £35, and even comes with a matching £12 kids top.

The frock is adorned with thousands of sparkling sequins, and on the back of the dress is a large black bow, which is bound to turn heads at any festive event

Writing on social media, one person said: “These are stunning.

“I had to get the bow jacket.”

A second person said: “Absolutely stunning.”

A third said: “I need this for party season.”

After a 12-year health battle, the star is hoping to revive her career as a household name through the show.

And getting prepped for jungle life, the stunning TV star posted a video of herself boxing.

In the clip, Tulisa can be seen in black leggings and a black crop top, which she partnered with some black boxing gloves.

She tied her hair back in a ponytail and showed off her impressive jabs.

The star was very much in the zone as she worked out and boxed with her personal trainer, who she thanked for the session.

Ahead of Tulisa’s jungle appearance, a source said: “Tulisa has been on ITV’s hit list for a while but until now she’s never wanted to consider it.

“This year is a decade since she left The X Factor so she felt the time was right to return to the TV spotlight — the amazing reception to the N-Dubz reunion tour really helped build her confidence.”

It comes as I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec broke their silence and shared a playful reaction video to the full I’m A Celebrity line up, after it was confirmed on Friday.

After frantic swaps behind-the-scenes, Ant and Dec have decided on their star-studded jungle cast.

The Sun already revealed wag Coleen Rooney will be bunking down with critters in Australia next month after securing the biggest deal in I’m A Celeb history.

And she has an incredible list of stars joining her in the jungle, from McFly star Danny Jones to Love Island royalty, Maura Higgins.

Ant and Dec have now shared their thoughts on the celebs heading into the jungle with them.

In a video captioned: “If we had to describe this year’s lineup in 10 words,” the two presenters reacted as they found out who’d be joining.

Reactions included the words: “Good. Very good. Really good. Brilliant. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES.”

The TV favourites could be seen sitting alongside each other while being told the cast reveal.

Those watching the video can’t hear whose names they’re reacting to, but the happy duo seem delighted as they shout “yes” and clap their hands.

For one of the sign ups, they can be heard gasping, and for another they burst into laughter.

At one point, Ant says: “What? Is he?”

Fans were loving the reaction video, but really wanted to know who they were reacting to when they acted shocked and said: “Is he?”

This week, The Sun revealed McFly’s Danny Jones had been drafted to replace Tommy Fury after the boxer pulled out.

Danny is the second member of McFly to enter the jungle, after Dougie Poynter won the show in 2011.

Other names heading into the I’m A Celeb jungle include Jane MooreOti Mabuse, Maura Higgins, Dean McCullough, Barry McGuigan, Melvin Odoom, Alan Halsall, Rev Richard Coles, Coleen Rooney and GK Barry.
