Liverpool vs Brighton preview

Liverpool host Brighton four days after beating them on their own patch in the Carabao Cup.

And there’s good reason to think they can claim another victory at Anfield on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s side have won 12 of their opening 14 games of the 2024-25 campaign, losing just once against Nottingham Forest in September.

Victory for the Reds would see Slot become the Liverpool manager with the most wins in their first 10 top-flight games.

The Merseysiders relinquished top spot to Manchester City when drawing 2-2 with Arsenal last weekend but sit just a point adrift and boast the best form in the division over the last five games.

They also boast the best defensive record in the Premier League having conceded five times, and only twice on home turf.

Only Manchester City have conceded fewer shots on target this season while nobody has a better xGC (expected goals conceded) than Liverpool’s 7.08.

And they’ll need to show that defensive solidarity again this weekend against a Brighton side who’ve netted 16 league goals and rank fourth for most attempts at goal (136).

The Seagulls also have a decent record against Liverpool having won two of their last five meetings in all competitions and scored first in four of the last six meetings.

Assist

No Liverpool player has created more chances at Anfield in the Premier League this season than Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England international has created 10 opportunities in four home matches – which is more than Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz combined.

He’s also responsible for the most successful crosses with only Mohamed Salah having had more touches in the opposition final third at Anfield.

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold to provide an assist at 3/1 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE

2+ Goals

Many have said the Egyptian is slowing down, but he’s still struck eight goals in 14 appearances this season – including two in his last three starts.

He’s easily had the most efforts on goal with 27, of which a whopping 17 of those were on target – averaging a shot every 29 minutes.

Salah has had more than DOUBLE the number of touches in the penalty area than his nearest colleague and boasts nine goals in 16 games against Brighton – including three last season.

  • Mohamed Salah to score 2+ goals at 9/2 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE

Bournemouth vs Man City preview

Champions Manchester City make the 250-mile journey to the Vitality Stadium for Saturday’s top-flight encounter.

And on paper it looks as though the trip will be well worth it for Pep Guardiola’s side.

They are top of the standings after nine fixtures and have won all 14 Premier League meetings against the Cherries by an aggregate score of 48-6.

Bournemouth have also lost all 11 of their Premier League games against sides who’ve been top of the table before kick-off.

However, there are reasons to believe that Andoni Iraola’s side could halt their dismal H2H record.

City crashed out of the Carabao Cup against Tottenham on Wednesday, and haven’t won any of their last four league outings by more than a one-goal margin – including against rock-bottom Southampton at home last weekend.

They were already without six first-team players for the defeat at Spurs before Manuel Akanji suffered a calf issue, Savinho was stretchered off and Ruben Dias was withdrawn at half-time.

After the clash, Guardiola revealed that City have “13 players” available and are in “trouble” without the likes of Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Jeremy Doku.

That could be music to the ears of Iraola, whose side have already taken down Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium and claimed a very creditable draw away to Aston Villa last time out.

And it’s not like the Cherries will simply try to contain their visitors. Only City and Tottenham can better Bournemouth’s 140 efforts on goal this season – averaging a chance every 6.2 minutes.

Bournemouth vs Man City preview betting tips and predictions

Score draw…

Perhaps it’s naive but I think Bournemouth will end their run of 14-straight Premier League defeats to Manchester City this weekend.

They’ve never had a better opportunity with Pep Guardiola’s side stretched to the bare bones, talisman Erling Haaland not firing and the fact they’ve managed just two clean sheets in the league this season.

As mentioned, the Cherries rank third for most efforts on goal this season and have the pace to cause City more than a few headaches on the break — scoring in all but one of their home games this term.

Booked

No side has committed more fouls in the Premier League than Bournemouth this season. They’ve committed 126 fouls – and midfielder Lewis Cook can account for 15% of those.

The 27-year-old has picked up three yellow cards in nine league appearances this season and has two cards in five games against Manchester City – including this fixture last season.

  • Lewis Cook to be carded at 5/2 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE

Manchester City to receive 5 or Over Yellow Cards at 16/1 with talkSPORT BET – CLAIM HERE

Opponents of Bournemouth have often found themselves in the referee’s notebook this season. In fact, 32 cards have been dealt to Bournemouth’s opposition in the first nine games of the season.

Chelsea received eight of those at the Vitality, and Villa were awarded seven last weekend. It might be viewed as a punt (and it probably is) but 16/1 looks a big price for the Cityzens to lose their heads in what could be a very tight encounter.

Kelsey Parker reveals late husband Tom’s parents support new romance telling trolls ‘you haven’t walked in my shoes’

KESLEY Parker has revealed her late husband’s Tom Parker’s parents support her new relationship with aspiring musician Will.

The influencer went Instagram official with her new boyfriend in September, two years after The Wanted singer’s death.

Tom tragically died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour[/caption]

The mum tragically lost Tom in March 2022 after he died aged 33 of an incurable brain tumour.

Kelsey and her new boyfriend, a tree surgeon called Will met earlier this year and have been a part of each other’s lives over the past few months.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, the podcast host said her social media followers have been incredibly supportive and so have Tom’s parents, Noreen and Nigel.

She said: “I’ve got such an amazing village and even with Tom’s parents Noreen and Nigel.

“They have supported me with whatever I’ve decided to do and they understand how hard it is.”

She said Will lost his dad when he was 21 and “understands what we’re going through”.

She continued: “It’s about finding happiness and with friends and family there is only so much they can do. It’s lovely to have someone to offload to.

“I was lonely and I’m 34 now. I was so lonely. I just wanted someone and now I’ve met someone.”

The star urged critics to respect her choices, asking for more “kindness”.

Reflecting on how her perfect life was turned upside down, she said: “I had the perfect life. Tom was a pop star, you know, who wouldn’t want to be with a pop star?

“And, you know, my life has been to flipped upside down, and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.

“So I just think as well, a little less judgment, a little more kindness. You’ve not lived my life, you’ve not walked a day in my shoes.”

Kelsey previously told The Sun she met Will through friends on a night out.

She said: “I just met him authentically when I was out, which is what I always wanted to do.

“I was just out with my friends, and we met, and it’s really nice. I’m so happy.”

When asked who made the first move, she added: “I think it was a mutual feeling between us.

“Obviously I wasn’t expecting to find anyone, and he’s literally just swept me off my feet.”

Kelsey also believes that Tom sent him to her.

“I definitely think he’s very special and I do feel like Tom had a little sprinkle of magic in me meeting him,” she confessed.

Tom was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2020 (a noperable stage 4 glioblastoma) and given just 18 months to live.

He later underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and 30 sessions of radiotherapy.

Before his death he was undergoing treatment in Spain and also managed to perform on stage with the rest of his bandmates.

I started pre-season at Arsenal with a huge hole in my side after club scout saved my life – I thought I was dying

MARTIN KEOWN has revealed that he thought he was “dying” during an Arsenal trip to France.

The former defender, 58, began his career in the Gunners’ academy.

He eventually returned for a lengthy second spell with the Gunners[/caption]

Part of a gifted crop that also included Tony Adams, David Rocastle and Niall Quinn, Keown had issues with youth team coach Tommy Coleman.

Appearing on The Rest is Football alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Keown revealed that he suffered a health scare during a trip away with the team.

“I was forced to go on a trip abroad,” he began. “I had broken and dislocated my elbow, and I had to go to France to watch…

“He (Coleman) rang me and said ‘you’re not having a holiday fella, we’re on holiday, you’ve not got your feet up, you come with us’.

“And then I started getting a grumbling appendix problem. For three days I was literally lying in the dormitory, ‘Yeah I can’t go out, I’m in too much pain’.

“And I thought ‘I’m dying, I’m literally dying’. And I had a voice in my head saying ‘You better do something’.

“(The) Italian team next door didn’t speak English. Steve Rowley the club scout, you may have heard that name, he just turned up in the car park.

“And I used to say to him every day I saw him after that ‘You saved my life… If you didn’t turn up…’

“He went off, he’d gone for a few hours but eventually they got medical care to me and went straight in, and I had peritonitis in the end, where the appendix burst.

“And that was all around that Gary, all around that coach… In fact, I started pre-season with a big hole in my side.

“And I couldn’t straighten my elbow because I’d broken and dislocated my elbow.

“But I didn’t want to sit in the medical room for another pre-season because I had gone through a lot of that.”

Following his difficulties with Coleman, Keown left Arsenal for Aston Villa in 1986 having made just 22 first team appearances.

Following seven years away and a further stint at Everton, he eventually returned to Highbury in 1993, where he would then stay for 11 years.

‘TOOK THAT PERSONALLY’

During his chat with Lineker and Shearer, Keown opened up on where he felt his issues with Coleman had begun.

He said: “You go into digs and you’re reliant on where you end up. It was all great when I was doing my trials with nice families and then suddenly there wasn’t anywhere to stay.

“So I went and stopped with Tommy. And Tommy had been a part-time coach previously, but now he was full-time. You’re coming home and you’re with the youth team manager, making the tea, there’s never any kind of respite.

“In my wisdom I went to see Steve Burtenshaw, head of the youth team, and said ‘I think it would be better if I moved somewhere else’.

“But Tommy took that personally. And so did his wife. She literally just wanted to fling me out that very night.

“He said ‘You’ve made life murder for me now, so I’m going to make life difficult for you’. And he did.”
