STRICTLY Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has opened up on the “unbearable” pain amid his arthritis battle.
The former Emmerdale actor has been candid in sharing his health struggles – and has now told fans he can “barely walk.”
He has been candid in documenting his condition on Instagram[/caption]
He told how he can barely walk due to the pain[/caption]
Adam was diagnosed with rhematoid arthritis in 2023 – just before his Strictly stint[/caption]
Now, the Waterloo Road favourite has posted a solemn black and white image showing him taking a selfie while wrapped in a winter coat.
He posted the snap to Instagram alongside a lengthy health update where he disclosed his pain is “a lot worse now.”
In the caption, he wrote: “The pain is pretty unbearable at the moment, it’s as if my whole body is seizing up!!
“The pain was bad before, but it’s a lot worse now… how why???”
Addressing his treatment, he said: “Now I wish I never came off the methotrexate because I would take that pain to this every day of the week!!
“I’ve just started my new medication today which takes 12 weeks to take effect and even then it might not work so am not too sure what I can do to ease the pain until then??
“I’ve had my steroid injections and it literally lasted a week.”
Revealing he will head to the medical ward today for further pain relief, Adam sadly admitted “I cant carry on like this!!”
The dad of two didn’t hold back as he dished out the real-life implications of his condition.
He added: “I couldn’t even get dressed this morning on my own, couldn’t drive to work, I mean I can barely walk and my wrists and fingers feel like they’re broken that’s no exaggeration!
“I wouldn’t have got out of bed today if it wasn’t for work. It got better through out the day with a s**t load of painkillers!
What are the symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis?
Pain – Patients could suffer with a throbbing and aching pain in their joints. According to the NHS, it may often feel worse in the mornings or after a period of inactivity.
Stiffness – Joints affected by the condition can feel stiff and inflexible. For example, you may not be able to fully bend fingers or form a fist in an affected hand.
Swelling, warmth and redness – Joint linings are also affected by rheumatoid arthritis and they could become inflamed. Joints could then swell, and become hot or tender to touch.
Other symptoms: These can often include tiredness, lack of energy, a high temperature, sweating, a poor appetite and weight loss
“But wow… these last few days have been scary had a little cry to myself today it can just really get on top of you!!
“Am not saying this for a sob story or for sympathy just trying to bring awareness to this disease and what so many others are going through the good the bad the ugly … I’m lucky I have a great support system and not many do so to anyone who is going through the same thing and is alone! I see you you I feel you!!
“It’s going to get better don’t give up x if you know anyone who’s suffering just give them a call and check in x”
His Waterloo Road co-star Chelsee Healey was quick to comment and wrote: “Hope you’re OK Ad.”
The message was followed by a slew of others wishing him well.
Earlier this year, he was left “in tears” after updated medication left him “wiped out.”

He admitted his new pain medication had not kicked in yet[/caption]
However, this has left star striker Viktor Gyokeres upset after he stayed in Lisbon to play under Amorim[/caption]
However, club bosses Ineos proved to be laser-focused in appointing the next permanent manager, with two-time league winner Amorim set to take charge.
United have indicated they are willing to pay the 39-year-old’s £8.3million release clause, but have been told to cough up a further £4m to take his coaching staff as well.
Tuesday night saw Amorim’s Sporting side win 3-1 over Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup.
But come Wednesday, not all was as it seemed with O Jogo reporting that star striker Viktor Gyokeres had been left unhappy with Amorim’s upcoming exit.
The Swede has become one of Europe’s top strikers under Amorim, and scored in Tuesday’s 3-1 win, but was “enticed” to stay in Portugal to continue working with the “Special One 2.0”.
However, both the 26-year-old and Danish star Morten Hjulmand have been left irritated by the Amorim news after turning down interest from elsewhere, including from Man Utd.
Speaking to SportTV, ex-Coventry ace Gyokeres said: “He’s here and that’s what I’m focused on, let’s see what happens. He’s still here, so I’m not going to wear myself out.”
He replied: “If I haven’t even left Sporting yet. What I say is that, when everything is decided, I will come here to explain everything. At this moment, everything I can say to a Sporting fan. It is obvious that they are revolted about the situation.
“Because they have a lot of affection for me. They believe a lot in my work. And love is very close. It’s not really hateful. But we know what football is like. I realize that.
“People have to feel what they have to feel at this moment, I have nothing to say about it and I think it’s perfectly natural. What I am saying is that now I cannot say anything definitive or definitive.
“And I’ll be able to say that. If I have the opportunity, and I should, I’m sure I will, I’ll explain here, step by step, why I decided one thing or another. I don’t want to give hope to anyone, nor stop giving hope.
“What I say is that there was the club’s situation. The communication had to come out on this day that there is a game. The feeling in the stadium that Pedro had, I had.
“I can see that my players, when they go to a lecture, are not the same. This is part of our life and we know what these situations are like. We have been through in the past.
Ruben Amorim is ‘Mourinho 2.0’ who turned Sporting from ‘walking dead’ into Portuguese champs… he can revive Man Utd
WHEN Ruben Amorim took charge of Sporting Lisbon in March 2020, one club official compared their situation to the “walking dead”, writes Jordan Davies.
Optimism and hope was at an all-time low.
But the Amorim-effect was almost instantaneous, guiding the Portuguese sleeping giants to their first league title for 19 years in 2020/21, losing just once and only conceding 20 goals.
Since then, Sporting have lifted another league title in 2023/24 – as well as two League Cups – and currently sit top with nine wins from nine this term.
He may be young, but Amorim already has an eye for rebuilding and revitalising fallen super powers with his infectious charisma and intense tactical philosophy that hardly ever wavers.
The “walking dead” at Manchester United must be praying for a similar sort of revival.
And they may just get it from one of the most talented young coaches on the continent – a man accustomed to breathing new life back into crumbling institutions such as Old Trafford.
Amorim has spent the last decade dreaming of one day gracing England’s Premier League, such was his admiration for an ex-United boss in Jose Mourinho growing up.
Often nicknamed ‘Mourinho 2.0’, Amorim spent a week with his coaching idol in an internship capacity at United’s Carrington training base in 2018, going on to cite him as his “reference point”.
United should not be expecting a mini-Mourinho, as Amorim said himself: “Mourinho is one of a kind. There won’t be another Mourinho. Mourinho is unique.”
And yet, you cannot help but compare the two.
For all the mismanagement in the Old Trafford hot seats over the years, this would be a real get – finally a slap in the face United’s Prem rivals have no answer for.
“What I say is that a club has appeared that wants to pay my clause. And I don’t control that. When the plane came, I might not have caught the plane. It’s true.
“I thought the championship was already won. I couldn’t say that at the time, but now I do. In this situation, there are things that I do not control.
“What I control is that I’m going to say and I’m going to explain everything here. And I’ll explain my decision. That’s it. But I need to have everything defined. Players do not need to make any requests.
“I know what the players want. I know what the players feel. Now, it’s time to get ready to work.”
Asked about the likes of Gyokeres in particular, he added: “First, no player was offered the clause [to leave mid-season]. And that doesn’t change. There is no more stability than that.
Ruben Amorim leaves Sporting on a high
By Charlie Wyett
RUBEN AMORIM would have preferred to leave Lisbon in a blaze of glory after winning a third Primeira Liga title.
Yet football does not work like that. And in what was surely his final game before taking charge of Manchester United, Amorim prepared to say his goodbyes at a half-empty Estadio Jose Alvalade in a League Cup quarter-final against Nacional.
Sporting won 3-1 thanks to second-half goals by captain Morten Hjulmand and Viktor Gyokeres, who scored two.
Luis Esteves pulled back for Madeira-based Nacional.
The stadium will be a good deal more lively on Tuesday when Manchester City are here for a Champions League match — although Amorim should by then have his feet firmly under his desk at Old Trafford.
Liverpool and Aston Villa were both interested in Europe’s most sought-after coach. Even City could have been a possible destination post-Pep Guardiola.
Yet the United job is one Amorim, 39, could not turn down — even if not everyone saw it that way at Sporting last night.
There is clearly a huge split in the Portuguese club’s fan base over their coach leaving at this stage of the season with many believing he should have seen the job through.
Yet Amorim, along with the three-man coaching team who are expected to follow him, leaves a club in a much better state than when he arrived here in 2020.
Inside the stadium, there was applause — albeit muted — when his name was read out before the game along with the line-ups.
And there did not appear to be any jeers when Amorim shuffled out from the tunnel awkwardly towards the dugout.
So, while his departure is hard to take for some, none of the fans will forget his legacy.
This is a club which is back as the dominant force in Portugal. Even this term, Sporting have won their first nine league games, scoring 30 goals and conceding just two.
They are also eighth in the Champions League table, which is one hell of an effort.
In contrast, Lisbon was not exactly hit by League Cup fever last night.
Amorim made lots of changes, which saw Sporting’s star man Gyokeres, the former Coventry striker, start on the bench.
There was, however, a first appearance in six weeks for former Tottenham winger Marcus Edwards.
He is certainly one player who has been transformed by Amorim since arriving at the club from Vitoria in 2022 and will be sorry to see the coach leave.
While he changed his team, Amorim stuck with his tried and trusted formation of a back three.
It will certainly be something Manchester United’s fans will have to get used to over the coming months.
But looking at the Premier League table, none of them will be complaining about the change.
“It’s easy to say, only someone leaves here because of the clause. Then, it wasn’t Viktor who said that. He was Viktor’s agent. They are different people.
“I will not be talking about the decision or non-decision. I’ll explain everything. What will force one way or the other, that doesn’t matter now. I’ll explain everything.
“Now, speaking of that part, the club only lets assets be sold in the middle of the season, it seemed to me, it was always that rule, by the clause.
“No player had proposals for the clause. None. In this respect, the project is not weakened because the rules remain. And the coherence remains.”
Despite reports initially claiming Amorim could be in charge as soon as this Sunday’s clash against Chelsea, The Guardian report there is a 30-day notice period before the switch can officially happen.
The Red Devils play six games in that period before hosting Everton at Old Trafford on December 1 in what could be Amorim’s first game in charge.
In the meantime, United beat Leicester 5-2 in the League Cup on Wednesday, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro both grabbing a brace while Alejandro Garnacho also got on the scoresheet.
It was a stark contrast even to the West Ham game on Sunday, as Ten Hag’s squad struggled to get the ball in the net. A fact that ultimately cost the Dutchman his job.
Man Utd ratings vs Leicester
MAN UNITED started life after Erik ten Hag with a comfortable win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup.
But who shone in the 5-2 victory, and who will be hoping incoming boss Ruben Amorim wasn’t watching?
SunSport’s Katherine Walsh gives her ratings…
Altay Bayindir – 6
Although United dominated, Bayindir looked shaky when Leicester’s chances came.
He flapped with a dodgy punch which led to the away side’s 33rd minute goal. And he looked to repeat it with McAteer’s shot just before half-time.
But one excellent second half save, pushed on to the crossbar, when Steve Cooper’s side were pressing, boosts his mark up a bit.
Victor Lindelof – 6
Hasn’t got the partnership with De Ligt established yet as they both failed to deal with crosses too often from centre-back.
But wasn’t really troubled consistently in the absence of Jamie Vardy in what was his second start of the season.
Matthijs De Ligt – 7
A more physical presence at the back than in previous performances but a more potent attack could have caused much more trouble.
Kasey McAteer got the better of him a few times and he was subbed in the 71st minute for Jonny Evans.
Lisandro Martinez – 6
Looked vulnerable at left-back in moments, with Lindelof filling in at centre-back.
James Justin often had acres of space in the second half before United made it 5-2.
Diogo Dalot
Back in his beloved right-hand side and told to push into midfield but often left his defensive channel wide open.
Passed back all too often and kept Justin onside in the first half.
He assisted Garnacho’s opener though after collecting Casemiro‘s stunning lofted pass.
Played a part in Leicester’s second after the ball bounced off him to drop for Coady in another silly goal to concede for the home side.
Casemiro – 9
The star of the show. A stunning first-half showing saw Casemiro score a brace after bagging a 30-yard screamer for United’s opening goal inside 15 minutes.
He was involved in Garnacho’s goal too. Came up with a number of key defensive headers in the second-half to show class is permanent, although form might be temporary at 32 years old.
Manuel Ugarte – 6
Conceded early fouls but worked hard. Slowly but surely starting to get to grips with his United team-mates after a shaky start.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Restored United’s 3-1 lead with his first finish of the season. Played with a smile on his face, which we often haven’t seen this season.
Dummied the ball for Casemiro’s worldie and scored his second of the evening in the 57th minute after rolling it under Danny Ward before tapping it into an empty net.
Will be leaned on heavily by Van Nistelrooy to produce the goods following Ten Hag’s departure.
Marcus Rashford – 6
A quiet evening for Rashford, who needs to kick on after Ten Hag’s exit.
The winger lost the ball a lot in the first 30 minutes. Flicks didn’t come off and hauled off again in the 60th minute.
Rashford’s only played a full 90 minutes THREE times this season.

LEGENDARY TV reporter Matt Peacock dies aged 72 in a heartbreaking cancer battle after a career spanning decades.
The ABC Australia journalist is best known for being chief political correspondent for the national broadcaster’s radio arm.
He was also foreign correspondent in London, Washington DC, and New York after joining the outlet in 1973.
Peacock tragically died from prostate cancer.
ABC chair Kim Williams shared his condolences.
He said: “Since starting at the ABC as a cadet in 1973, he was dedicated to pursuing the health impacts of asbestos in different communities, defending the marginalised and giving a voice to people who needed their story to be told.
“Our audiences trusted him and knew him as a courageous and principled journalist who pursued those who hid from their responsibilities.
“He loved the ABC and believed in its integrity and standards and he urged his colleagues to uphold these values without compromise.
“We will miss his friendship and advice. Our sincere condolences go to his family and friends.”
Peacock was elected to the ABC’s board in 2013 and was widely respected for a 2009 book he wrote.
That book, Killer Company: James Hardie Exposed, revealed how asbestos-made products made by building materials maker James Hardie Industries killed thousands.
According to Peacock, James Hardie Industries circumvented the rules and regulations designed to protect those working with their products.
Asbestos has now been banned from construction work as it is a highly dangerous substance — it can severely damage your lungs and as a carcinogen can cause cancer.

JOE Biden bizarrely nibbled three babies at his Halloween event last night – as his wife Jill donned a full panda suit.
The president, 81, and First Lady hosted trick-or-treaters on the White House South Lawn for the last time on Wednesday.

Children were seen arriving with their parents in droves – decked out in colorful costumes and excited to meet their president.
Biden, famed for his playful interactions with children, seemed just as pleased to meet them, even appearing to bite them with his mouth.
At one moment, the president was caught chomping the leg of a turkey-clad baby, cradled by their mom.
He was later seen nibbling the toe of a child in an ice cream cone costume and gnawing at a third baby in a little blue dress.
The president was joined by Dr. Jill Biden who wore a full panda suit, later taking off the huge head to reveal herself inside.
It came after the first lady worked with the National Zoo earlier this year to announce that pandas would be returning to Washington.
They arrived in the nation’s capital in mid-October and Jill Biden donned the panda suit Wednesday as a welcoming gesture, the White House said.
Jill also added an educational theme to the event and named it Hallo-Read to help encourage reading.
Earlier Wednesday, she read a short story about spooky pumpkins to a group of costumed children gathered on the lawn.
She and the president later ventured outside at sunset and spent about an hour handing out treats.
Biden, in a suit and tie, dropped boxes of White House Hershey’s Kisses chocolates in the kids’ tote bags while the first lady handed out copies of 10 Spooky Pumpkins.
Up to 8,000 people, including students and children tied to the military, were expected to pass through the White House gates during the day.
A large orange moon and a sign that said Hallow-Read at the White House decorated the south face of the executive mansion.
The decorations also included cardboard representations of Willow, the family cat, stacks of books and giant pumpkins on the floor.
It comes just days before the final votes in the election are cast, with Biden hitting the headlines earlier this week for calling Donald Trump supporters “garbage”.
Biden later put out a statement insisting he meant to blast Hinchcliffe’s “hateful rhetoric” against Puerto Rico as “garbage”.
Kamala Harris, meanwhile, condemned Biden’s contentious remarks, telling voters: “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.
“I will be a president for all Americans whether you vote for me or not.”
Americans will head to the polls to cast their final votes next week.

SIR DAVID BRAILSFORD appeared to confirm that Manchester United have agreed to bring in Ruben Amorim as their new manager last night.
Ineos’ director of sport told fans outside Old Trafford that “It’s done”, ahead of United’s Carabao Cup fixture against Leicester City.

Sir Dave Brailsford appeared to tell fans ‘It’s done’ outside Old Trafford last night[/caption]
Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy occupied the dugout at the Theatre of Dreams as United thrashed the Foxes 5-2 to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the cup.
But it appears the Man Utd legend’s time as boss will be fleeting, after Brailsford’s comments outside the ground.
Brailsford, 60, has long acted as the right-hand-man to United’s minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and is known to have a hand in negotiations for the club.
When stopping to take some photos with the Old Trafford faithful, Brailsford was probed for an update on the Amorim saga.
To which he simply replied: “Yeah, It’s done. It’s done”, before walking straight into the ground.
No official announcement has been made by either Man Utd or Sporting Lisbon at this time.
“Everything I say will only create more noise. There is nothing to say about the matter. There is the statement, everyone knows. It was said by the club.
“Besides, we don’t know the details for sure. We’ll see. It will go through my decision as the statement said. But saying half things now doesn’t seem best to me.”
The Portuguese giants want extra cash to release three trusted members of Amorim’s backroom staff
The tactician wants to take Sporting’s assistant manager Adelio Candido, assistant coach Carlos Fernandes and goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital with him to Old Trafford.
Portuguese outlet Record have suggested that Amorim will remain as the Sporting boss until the next international break.
That would mean that he is still in charge of the Lisbon club for another three games – including a Champions League clash with Manchester City.
While it would mean his first game as United boss wouldn’t come until November 24, when the Red Devils travel to face Ipswich Town.

6 days agoNewsComments Off on I cheated on my husband twice & became super insecure – but people say they’re not surprised I looked elsewhere
A MOTHER divided opinions when she vented about her husband struggling to get over her multiple affairs.
She confessed to feeling “sad” that their marriage seems beyond repair despite seeking help from a couple’s counsellor.
A mother-of-two asked for advice after cheating on her husband twice in their 25-year marriage (stock image)[/caption]
The couple tied the knot despite her having cheated 2.5 years into their long-distance relationship.
The mother-of-two said they began to struggle to communicate with each other but didn’t seek therapy.
They were both working “stressful full-time jobs” and their marriage lacked emotional intimacy when she cheated again in year 18 of their 25-year relationship.
She admitted to wanting to leave at the time but staying because her husband wanted her to.
“I single-handedly did a massive self-examination,” she said, writing on Mumsnet.
“Cut contact with AP [affair partner] etc, read many reconciliation blogs, read Chumplady, watched endless videos, went on my knees begging forgiveness, admitted to many personal failings to various people close to me, saw 2 professional therapists, texted non-stop with a close friend who knows about the last affair.
“I changed many aspects of my behaviour, quit full-time work, now work pt 100% from home, am calmer, much more affectionate, give daily compliments, appreciations, loving texts, make nice meals, generally bring nicer to the extent others have remarked a change including children DH and others.
“We still have an active, good sex life.”
She recently forgot to contact her husband while spending time with her family which triggered “all his old fears of abandonment.”
The mum said he’s become a “bundle of hurt and insecurities” who is retaliating by refusing to contact her when he goes on his business trip.
“I realise this is my doing, mostly,” she said. “He was a s**t partner when I was working ft and kids were young. Didn’t pull his weight for sure.
“But. Is this solvable?”
She described her husband as “chronically insecure” as she listed his other anxieties.
They included worrying about what his family thinks of their home and telling their daughter her cousin would “resent” her for cancelling a visit.
A flood of responses to the post argued the marriage was over and the couple should divorce, but they were torn about who was to blame.
“It doesn’t sound very resolvable, and most of that is your own daft fault,” one person wrote.
“You broke his trust. Not once, but twice. That’s a huge hurt that will most probably never go away.”
Four red flags your partner is cheating
Private Investigator Aaron Bond from BondRees revealed four warning signs your partner might be cheating.
They start to take their phone everywhere with them
In close relationships, it’s normal to know each other’s passwords and use each other’s phones, if their phone habits change then they may be hiding something.
Aaron says: “If your partner starts changing their passwords, starts taking their phone everywhere with them, even around the house or they become defensive when you ask to use their phone it could be a sign of them not being faithful.”
“You should also look at how they place their phone down when not in use. If they face the phone with the screen facing down, then they could be hiding something.”
They start telling you less about their day
When partners cheat they can start to avoid you, this could be down to them feeling guilty or because it makes it easier for them to lie to you.
“If you feel like your partner has suddenly begun to avoid you and they don’t want to do things with you any more or they stop telling you about their day then this is another red flag.”
“Partners often avoid their spouses or tell them less about their day because cheating can be tough, remembering all of your lies is impossible and it’s an easy way to get caught out,” says Aaron.
Their libido changes
Your partner’s libido can change for a range of reasons so it may not be a sure sign of cheating but it can be a red flag according to Aaron.
Aaron says: “Cheaters often have less sex at home because they are cheating, but on occasions, they may also have more sex at home, this is because they feel guilty and use this increase in sex to hide their cheating. You may also find that your partner will start to introduce new things into your sex life that weren’t there before.”
They become negative towards you
Cheaters know that cheating is wrong and to them, it will feel good, this can cause tension and anxiety within themselves which they will need to justify.
“To get rid of the tension they feel inside they will try to convince themselves that you are the problem and they will become critical of you out of nowhere. Maybe you haven’t walked the dog that day, put the dishes away or read a book to your children before bedtime. A small problem like this can now feel like a big deal and if you experience this your partner could be cheating,” warns Aaron.
Others defended the mum with one saying her husband sounded like “very hard work.”
“He sounds like a controlling bully. I’m not surprised you cheated,” another person wrote.
A third argued the woman’s cheating shouldn’t be used against her because her husband has the choice to leave at any time.
“With cheating, imo [in my opinion], the one being cheated on either needs to find a way to move on or split with their partner.
“Not doing so becomes a life sentence for both. It just isn’t good and you can’t get back to where you were before.
“You have to get to a different place. And he’s unable to get to a different place so don’t let this be your life sentence.
“As for his behaviour towards your dd [dearest daughter], he doesn’t sound very nice to her. And he’s not a great partner by the sound of it either.
“Even though I don’t agree with cheating, I can see why you sought fun and solace elsewhere. You’d both probably be better off apart.”

6 days agoNewsComments Off on I’m an appliance pro – this natural kitchen ingredient will banish stubborn limescale & mould from your washing machine
IF you’ve noticed a nasty stench coming from your washing machine, fear not, we’ve got you covered.
Whilst all of us will use a washing machine to do our laundry, it turns out that many people often overlook cleaning their handy gadget.
An appliance pro has revealed the natural kitchen ingredient that will banish tough limescale and mould from your washing machine[/caption]
It can be used in the drawer, drum, filter and seal, and will cost you just 35p[/caption]
Appliance gurus at LG swore by white vinegar to get a washing machine sparkling and mould-free[/caption]
Your washing machine seal is notorious for mould and grime accumulation, as it’s the last line of defence in keeping your appliance moisture-rich[/caption]
And particularly if you’ve noticed stubborn mould or limescale in your appliance, it’s probably time to give it a proper scrub.
Moisture builds up in our washing machines after wash cycles, which can attract mould, limescale and other dirty residues.
As a result, washing machines need to be cleaned regularly, as if left uncleaned, they will begin to smell musty and cause your laundry to be stained even after a wash.
Luckily for you, to tackle this issue, appliance gurus at LG have shared their top tips for cleaning each component of your washing machine.
And if you’re on a budget, don’t worry, as you probably already have the secret in your kitchen cupboard.
Thanks to this helpful advice, you’ll need just one natural kitchen cupboard ingredient – white vinegar.
Banishing mould and limescale from your washing machine drawer
To spruce up your washing machine’s detergent drawer, you’ll first need to turn off your machine and then take the drawer out.
Immerse the drawer in a bowl of hot water and vinegar and while the drawer is soaking, wipe down and clean the inside of the detergent drawer compartment – you can do this with a microfibre cloth dampened with some water and vinegar.
The experts advised: “It’s important to get into the top of the compartment as this is where most of the mouldy and limescale builds up.
“If you have any dirt lodged in crevices, use a toothbrush to dislodge those final unwanted bits.”
Now, you can wipe away any accumulated mould and soap scum with a cloth or sponge.
Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse your drawer in warm water and thoroughly dry it before slotting it back into the machine.
How to dry wet washing inside, in winter
Drying rack or airer
Load up your airer with wet washing and place near a heat source – like a radiator or direct sunlight – to help distribute air around your clothes.
Dehumidifier
Plug in a dehumidifier in a room with clothes hanging to dry quickly and prevent dampness and mould. Many now have a laundry setting.
Tumble dryer
A tumble dryer can heat moisture out of wet washing, saving time and can be used in any weather.
Heated airer
Many brands and shops now sell heated airers for as little as £30. The racks heat through electricity and can speed up drying time.
Open a window
Choose a spare room or unused room for keeping your washing and crack open a window, but close the door behind you.
Using curtain poles
Hang wet washing on radiators then hook them onto curtain poles with radiators below. The heat will rise and dry the items. Alternatively, if you have a shower curtain pole, hang your clothes in the bathroom with a window open.
Eradicating mould and limescale from your washing machine drum
When it comes to the washing machine drum, to ensure it gets the sparkle treatment, turn off the machine, spray inside the drum with white vinegar and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth for a proper clean.
However, experts stressed: “Make sure not to do this too frequently, especially near the seal of the machine as the vinegar can corrode the rubber seal.”
Removing mould and limescale from your washing machine filter
Don’t forget your washing machine filter too.
All you’ll need to do is simply pop off the cover panel at the bottom corner on the outside of your appliance.
Cleaning hacks and tips
Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:
If a grotty layer of liquid dribbles out, mop up the mess with some paper towels.
Once you’ve got all the grim bits off, place the filter in a bowl of hot water for a 10-minute soak.
Before the filter goes back in, do a quick check of the machine’s insides for any stray lint.
Clearing mould and limescale from your washing machine seal
And last but not least, it’s time to check your washing machine seal.
If your washing machine is kicking up a stink, the rubber seal could be the likely culprit.
This spot is notorious for mould and grime accumulation, as it’s the last line of defence in keeping your appliance moisture-rich.
To tackle this, according to the pros, one of the “most effective ways to clean your seal” is by using white vinegar with a cotton bud.
Alternatively, you can sprinkle baking soda straight into the drum for a scorching 90-degree wash cycle.
And don’t worry if you’ve run out of white vinegar – as you can nab a bottle of the stuff for just 35p from Tesco, making this hack super cost-effective.
