Roy Keane hints at biggest problem with Ruud van Nistelrooy STAYING at Man Utd with Ruben Amorim confirmed as new boss

ROY KEANE has highlighted a problem with Ruud van Nistelrooy staying at Manchester United beyond the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

The new manager is set to start his new job on November 11, meaning the interim boss has a total of four games in charge.

Van Nistelrooy arrived at Old Trafford in the summer as sacked Erik ten Hag’s new assistant.

But despite so far taking the reigns for a 5-2 Carabao Cup win over Leicester and 1-1 draw with Chelsea, his long-term future is unclear with Amorim set to bring his own coaches from Sporting Lisbon with him.

After Sunday’s game, Van Nistelrooy called the United players a “good group” and he is supposedly liked by the squad.

But his comments enraged Keane, who told Sky Sports that he is worried the Dutchman is not ruthless enough.

The former captain said: “Oh they are great lads, we don’t have to worry about football results then.

“I would rather work with bad lads who put a shift in and run.

“I know it is an awkward question for him, he is not going to say they aren’t good guys. What is a good group?”

Keane explained that staying on might be the wrong move for him too, saying: “Who brought Ruud to the club? Was it United was it Ten Hag? Because there was a lot of changes in the background.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

“Does Ruud feel he has got loyalty to Ten Hag? Or does he say ‘well, it was the club that brought me in’.

“I think it is difficult to stay when a new manager comes in if he is bringing a lot of his own staff.

“Maybe Ruud would be best stepping back because it is not easy.

“If he feels any loyalty to Ten Hag I feel it is difficult to stay on – but if you want loyalty you get a dog.”

Fans are concerned over the situation, with one saying: “Fear for Amorim. If Ruud has to leave players already have an excuse to not perform.”

Another added: “Ruud leaving the club then it’s going to get awkward.”

Van Nistelrooy’s last two matches in charge are versus Greek side Paok in the Europa League and Leicester in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim is ‘Mourinho 2.0’ who turned Sporting from ‘walking dead’ into Portuguese champs… he can revive Man Utd

WHEN Ruben Amorim took charge of Sporting Lisbon in March 2020, one club official compared their situation to the “walking dead”, writes Jordan Davies.

Optimism and hope was at an all-time low.

But the Amorim-effect was almost instantaneous, guiding the Portuguese sleeping giants to their first league title for 19 years in 2020/21, losing just once and only conceding 20 goals.

Since then, Sporting have lifted another league title in 2023/24 – as well as two League Cups – and currently sit top with nine wins from nine this term.

He may be young, but Amorim already has an eye for rebuilding and revitalising fallen super powers with his infectious charisma and intense tactical philosophy that hardly ever wavers.

The “walking dead” at Manchester United must be praying for a similar sort of revival.

And they may just get it from one of the most talented young coaches on the continent – a man accustomed to breathing new life back into crumbling institutions such as Old Trafford.

Amorim has spent the last decade dreaming of one day gracing England’s Premier League, such was his admiration for an ex-United boss in Jose Mourinho growing up.

Often nicknamed ‘Mourinho 2.0’, Amorim spent a week with his coaching idol in an internship capacity at United’s Carrington training base in 2018, going on to cite him as his “reference point”.

United should not be expecting a mini-Mourinho, as Amorim said himself: “Mourinho is one of a kind. There won’t be another Mourinho. Mourinho is unique.”

And yet, you cannot help but compare the two.

For all the mismanagement in the Old Trafford hot seats over the years, this would be a real get – finally a slap in the face United’s Prem rivals have no answer for.

I’m an unemployed single mum & my council house doesn’t have flooring or blinds -it’s tough but people say not to moan

A SINGLE mum has revealed that when she moved into her council house, it didn’t have flooring or blinds.

Megan moved into her council house a few weeks ago, and as the move happened quickly and unexpectedly, was unable to get the place sorted before she moved in.

She is trying her best to make it nice for her and her son[/caption]

She added that as she is unemployed, she has not been able to afford to purchase any new furniture for the bare house.

Taking to TikTok, Megan shared an honest insight into life living in a council house as a single mum.

“I don’t have furniture, I don’t have blinds, I don’t have all the furniture I want”, she said.

However, Megan is doing her best to make the home as nice as she can for her son.

“It will take time but the end result is going to be what I want for me and my son, and that is all I care about.”

Megan’s video has gone viral, racking up over one million views on the video sharing platform.

However, she has been subjected to cruel comments from trolls, who have said that she should stop complaining.

One person said: “Count yourself lucky getting a house, I have been waiting 6 years and still have nothing!”

A second person said: “In my city you would be told to rent privately.”

A third person said: “I’ve never had a house that big, and I have to pay my own rent.”

However, others shared their support for Megan and her son.

One person said: “At the end of the day it’s a safe roof over your heads that’s more than lots have. Well done you!”

A second person said: “I like the fact that you are being honest, unfortunately this is the reality for many of us.”

Council tenants are allowed to make alterations and renovations to their homes.

How to do your council house up on the cheap

  • Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
  • Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
  • For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
  • A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
  • Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards.

However, they must make sure that any work conforms to building regulations and planning permission.

Council houses are provided by local authorities to those in need.

They are often cheaper than renting private housing and can also offer greater security from eviction.

Council houses are allocated to prospective tenants via a points based system, with those in greater need given homes first.

The council will contact you about an available property when you are high enough up the waiting list.

More than one million people are currently waiting for social housing in the UK.

Becky Vardy takes swipe at arch rival Coleen Rooney with reference to infamous ‘pigeon’ comment

REBEKAH Vardy has taken a fresh swipe at her arch rival Coleen Rooney ahead of her jungle stint.

The WAGS came to blows over the Wagatha Christie scandal and now Becky has seemingly revived the war between the ladies with a cryptic comment.

Becky shared a throwback of her in the jungle before slyly adding a pigeon emoji[/caption]

Becky has poked fun at the star once again by referencing her infamous ‘pigeon’ comment in which she compared mum-of-four Coleen to the bird.

Ahead of their infamous libel trial, Becky admitted that arguing with Coleen would be like “arguing with a pigeon” and that it would “s*** in your hair“.

Now, she has brought up the comments once again by sharing a throwback post to her time in the Aussie jungle.

Sharing a snap of herself in the I’m A Celeb camp, Becky shared the cryptic message: “That feeling when you start seeing rehashed nonsense.”

Becky then added a sticker of a pigeon pooing in a thinly-veiled dig at her arch rival following her former comments.

Back in 2019, Becky told the Mail that arguing with the star would be like rowing with the bird.

She told the publication: “It would be like arguing with a pigeon.

“You can tell it that you are right and it is wrong, but it’s still going to s*** in your hair.”

Becky’s choice of snap is even more interesting given that Coleen is gearing up to enter the ITV reality show after Becky took part herself in 2017.

Coleen is understood to have bagged the biggest payday in the show’s history to walk into the Aussie jungle.

The wife of Wayne Rooney will be flying out in just weeks for the programme and Becky has already told pals she would be ‘straight on a plane’ to join her rival in the camp if she was given a chance.

A pal told The Sun recently: “Becky would be straight on a plane if she had the chance.

“She’d love to see the look on Coleen’s face if she appeared. It would make the best television.

“But she imagines bosses have promised Coleen they have no such surprise planned.

“She thinks it’s hilarious that Coleen is copying her and it is only encouraging people to keep talking about Wagatha rather than leave it in the past.

“Becky has nothing to hide though she would be game to put on her camp costume.”

I’m A Celebrity’s Coleen Rooney’s rules for husband Wayne as she flies to Australia

AS she prepares to fly Down Under this weekend ahead of her stint in I’m A Celebrity, Coleen Rooney has been busy sorting her to-do list.

And, according to pals, one of the most pressing matters is sorting out who is going to be keeping an eye on her husband Wayne.

A pal said: ‘Everyone close to Coleen is very aware of what has gone on in the past’[/caption]

The former England star, who is the boss of Plymouth Argyle football club, is famed for getting himself into hot water while Coleen’s back is turned.

And those close to Coleen told me her family were on red alert to make sure nothing back home could derail her experience in camp.

A pal said: “Everyone close to Coleen is very aware of what has gone on in the past, and will be staying in close contact with Wayne while she’s away.

“His football schedule means he can’t fly out to join her so he’ll be watching it from Plymouth.

“The family want nothing to spoil Coleen’s experience on the show and they’re making it their business to ensure it can’t.

“Everyone will be checking in on Wayne and, as a family, they’ll be cheering her on to the final.”

Given this is Coleen’s first foray into reality television, I have no doubt she will be crowned Queen of the Jungle this year, given the fascination that surrounds her.

But if I were her, I’d have a permanent minder glued to Wayne’s side.

Blokes are nightmares at the best of times, let alone when you’re almost 10,000 miles away from them.

IT’S NOT FAIR: LILY OUT OF IT AT OWN PARTY

LILY ALLEN can’t remember one of the most raucous parties she ever hosted – because she was out cold for the entire thing.

She has admitted she took Class B drug ketamine before being carried out of the Glamour Awards in 2008, which preceded the impromptu bash back at her place.

Speaking on her Miss Me podcast, Lily explained: “Quite often people have thrown house parties in my house against my will and also while I’ve not been conscious.

“After the Glamour Awards when I got carried out in a ‘K-hole’, I woke the next morning and like everyone famous was in my house, passed out.

“James Corden, Noel Fielding, Klaxons, Dominic Cooper, Mark Ronson, Alan Carr – everybody was there.

“Someone put me in a cab, drove me home and I got straight into bed.

“When I woke up in the morning, I googled myself, and saw the pictures of me being passed over the railings by security.”

That takes beer fear to a whole new level.

Incredible pics show wreck of £14m 150ft superyacht Atina raised from the depths after sinking in devastating fire

THESE incredible photos show the wreck of a £14million superyacht after it was raised from the sea floor.

The flashy yacht, called Atina, sank after a devastating fire broke out on board.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the fire[/caption]

The ship’s owner, Serkan Borançili, who is best known for co-founding the grocery delivery app Getir in 2015, had used the vessel for luxury cruises in the Mediterranean.

At the time of the incident, the Turkish businessman was on board the boat with friends while it was moored in the Gulf of Olbia in Sardinia, Italy.

After the fire broke out, port authority immediately dispatched a tug boat and a second vessel to try to help.

Footage shared by Italy’s coast guard showed the superyacht sinking while it was doused with an extinguisher in the port, also known as the Billionaire’s Playground.

But efforts to save it were unsuccessful and within hours the superyacht had sank in shallow waters.

Sixteen passengers and crew miraculously escaped from the Atina before it was completely engulfed in flames on August 10.

And for just under three months, Atina has remained at the bottom of the Mediterranean, lying on its side at a depth of about eight metres.

It has now been recovered.

The operation itself was coordinated by the Port Authority of Olbia, and carried out by specialised personnel from Resolve Marine.

Parbuckling operations were required, which helped to straighten the structure so that it could be lifted out of the water.

About 10 divers worked with a crane to straighten and lift the Atina, so that it could be placed on the platform of the Conquest MB1.

The Conquest MB1 was also used for the recovery of the Costa Concordia, an Italian cruise ship which capsized in 2012.

The coast guard is set to carry out an inspection on Atina to conclude investigations into the causes of the shipwreck.

Images show that there is very little left of the 154-foot yacht, which was built by the Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts in 2008.

The blue and white hull has become a charred mass, and the bridge, deck, and rear door are hardly recognisable.

On the evening of November 3, operations were suspended as the chains which are fixed to Atina needed to be moved to a new position.

As the structure has been soaked with water, it is heavier than expected.

Adjustments need to be made so that operations can be completed safely.

This morning its retrieval will be resumed, and the yacht will be transferred for demolition.

The investigation is set to be concluded on November 6 and 3D scans of the area where the Atina sank will be carried out.

At that point, all that will be left of the Atina is an investigation file in the offices of the Tempio Prosecutor’s Office.

The Atina was sold in 2021 for more than £14million and it won an award at the World Superyacht Awards in 2009.

It underwent an eight-month-long revamp when it was bought three years ago with the top deck completely redesigned.

The yacht was complete with five cabins, lounge areas and an entertainment system installed throughout.

Shoppers ‘in love’ with Primark’s gift ideas range – and they’re perfect for Christmas Eve boxes

WITH less than eight weeks until Christmas, most of us will have already started buying gifts and presents for our loved ones.

And now that Halloween and the spooky season is behind us, shops are starting to pull out their best offers for the upcoming holiday.

And the collection, which includes Boyfriend Pyjamas, is perfect for Christmas Eve boxes[/caption]

One fashion giant that has already impressed shoppers is Primark after launching its incredible new gift ideas range.

The bargain retail chain is sharing ’30 Days of Gift Ideas’ for fans who are starting to pick up Christmas presents for their friends and family.

And its first few days into the range have products that are perfect for anyone who is putting together Christmas Eve boxes.

The boxes are traditionally filled with special gifts and treats that will carry the recipient into the big day.

So it makes sense to add gifts like new pyjamas, fluffy socks and slippers that will leave them cosy and excited for the morning.

And for this, Primark has you covered.

The fashion chain has launched a brand-new collection of Boyfriend Pyjamas, which can be picked up for just £15 in Scottish stores.

The bright red and white classic nightshirt and pyjama bottoms set are ideal to get into the festive mood this Christmas.

And many shoppers have been left saying they “love” the new collection, with some calling them “gorgeous”.

Another added that the sets are “so soft”, while a third revealed that they actually have them in “nearly every colour and love them”.

Fluffy socks are another cosy gift essential that is the perfect treat to add to a Christmas Eve box.

And Primark’s new festive collection starts at just £2 and includes a range of different styles.

For those looking for a classic touch, there is a simple yet elegant white and red pair which has initials added to the side.

There is also a pair of white and red socks decorated with hearts or another with The Grinch on them.

There are also plenty of options for those who aren’t looking for a traditional festive set, including some in leopard print, zebra print, or plain colours like grey, pink, blue and white.

Fans have been left excited by all of the options, with one posting on social media “Primark is calling us”.

A second wrote, “Everything is very beautiful!!” while a third added, “I love them”.

What better way to finish off these cosy Christmas Eve boxes than with a pair of slippers?

Why is Primark the place to go for bargains?

JUST how does Primark do it? Continue delivering on-trend items at such incredible prices? According to bosses, it's down to four points.

  • They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to that, they are able to make savings by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
  • They “do very little advertising”
  • While their clothes offer the “latest trends”, they “don’t use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
  • And lastly, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores”. This includes things like asking “suppliers to pack our t-shirts so they are ready to go straight on shelf”.

For more information about how Primark keeps their costs so low, and are able to deliver such amazing bargains, visit the Primark website.

And Primark’s Lined Clog Slippers could be perfect, with a range of colours for just £12 across Scottish stores.

These Clog-style slippers have a slingback strap, fluffy lining and thick soles and come in cream, brown and black.

The team at Primark have said they are “the slippers on everyone’s wish list this season”, and many have taken to social media to agree.

One user said they are “getting mine next weekend”, with a second chiming in: “How cute are these!”

The retail giant is sharing more festive goodies on their social media pages throughout the month of November.

‘My heart is breaking’ says Amy Dowden as she releases emotional statement after stepping down from Strictly

AMY Dowden has shared a heartbreaking post sharing her devastation at having to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing.

It was announced today that the 34-year-old Welsh dancer will not be returning to the dancefloor for the rest of the series after collapsing backstage during Halloween Week.

Lauren Oakley, who replaced her last week, will now perform with JB Gill permanently going forward in the competition.

The news was confirmed by Fleur East on today’s episode of It Takes Two, with an official statement being posted on Strictly’s socials shortly afterwards.

Moments later, Amy made a statement of her own, praising the show, her journey to get back to the series after her cancer diagnosis, and her hopes for JB and Lauren going forward.

Posting an emotional statement on Instagram, Amy wrote: “My heart is breaking right now. The past few months I finally felt like me again.

“Cancer was no longer the first thing I thought of when I woke up. It was choreography, music choices, which dances in which order, what we needed to work on. I felt free again.”

“My goal since hearing those words you have cancer was to get back on the Strictly dance floor,” she continued.

“It’s been such a challenge to get back, one I devoted 2024 too. Which with my incredible team we got there. Something I wanted to do for myself and loved ones.

“There was no feeling like it dancing again in the ballroom with my Strictly family.”

“Then I was partnered with the talented, kind, gentle soul JB,” she added of her partner.

“Every day our training room was chilled, hardworking and full of big smiles enjoying what we was creating together with a blossoming friendship.”

“JB thank you for being the perfect partner back,” she added. “We topped the leader board week one and continued to work so hard and thank you for being so passionate about understanding the ballroom and Latin fundamentals.

“For me that rumba will always be one of my favs. I’m so sad, so upset and asking why me, why now that our journey has been cut short.”

“My heart right now is breaking having to pull out of the competition due to a foot injury and I know only too well ‘this too shall pass’ and I’ll be soon better and back dancing,” she said.

“Something I’ve had to get used to in my life.”

“I’m sure at some point we will dance again JB To all the fans, to my loved ones, my strictly family thank you.”

Ending the message, she added: “JB I know you and Lauren will continue to ace that dance floor I’ll forever be your biggest cheerleader.”

Strictly Amy's cancer 'nightmare'

The Sun's Jamie Downham takes a look at the beloved Strictly star's ups and downs...

AS Strictly Come Dancing viewers know, you’ll struggle to catch Amy Dowden without a huge smile on her face.

But recently the Welsh star – one the best-rated Ballroom and Latin American professional dancers the UK has ever produced – has suffered a string of “nightmare” blows to her health.

She was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year and underwent a full mastectomy, before having chemotherapy towards the end of 2023.

However, she later reported docs had found a clot on her lung, telling fans sadly: “Unfortunately I’ve had another nightmare this week.”

Nonetheless, brave Amy, seen here dancing with James Bye, made an epic return to Strictly the following month with an appearance that left many viewers in floods tears.

As 2024 dawned, she admitted: “I feel I was robbed of the year I had planned and reflecting for me makes me upset and angry.”

However, she was soon smiling again. Amy, her hair starting to grow back after her cancer treatment, was seen messing around with her co-stars Dianne Buswell and Vito Coppola on the Strictly tour earlier this month.

And despite another spell in hospital in February, she still mustered a cheeriness many would struggle for, telling fans: “The sun is shining – and I certainly can’t wait for Spring.”

And we certainly can’t wait to see you dancing again, Amy…

“We remain focused on our strategy and winning major trophies.

“Our succession plan will reflect this continued ambition.”

Players learning the news of Edu’s departure on Monday morning were said to be shocked by the departure of their sporting director.

The former Brazil international, who worked for the Brazilian Federation before returning to North London, has become one of the elite sporting directors in European football after landing signings such as Martin OdegaardDeclan Rice and William Saliba.

Last year he was named Best European Director at the Golden Boy Awards.

The Brazilian, part of Arsenal’s Invincibles squad under Arsene Wenger, has developed a close relationship with a number of the current players.

Arsenal and Edu resignation statement in full

Edu Gaspar has today resigned from his position as our Sporting Director.

Edu, our former player and Invincible, re-joined us in the role of Technical Director in July 2019. He progressed through the club and was promoted to Sporting Director in November 2022, where he oversaw men’s, women’s and academy football.

We thank Edu for the part he has played in our renewed football strategy and driving the club forward with the values of Arsenal in his heart.

Edu said: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make.

“Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club’s history. It has been a special journey and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim and Lord Harris for the support they’ve given me.

“I’ve loved working with so many great colleagues across our men’s, women’s and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend.

“Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best.”

Our Co-Chair, Josh Kroenke, added: “We respect Edu’s decision and thank him for his immense contribution and dedication to drive the club forward.

“Everyone at the club wishes him well. We are all so fond of him and the positive energy he brings to everything and everyone.

“Change and evolution is a part of our club.  We remain focused on our strategy and winning major trophies. Our succession plan will reflect this continued ambition.”

How Edu made Arsenal great again

By Jack Rosser

EDU GASPAR has been on a mission to ‘Make Arsenal Great Again’ ever since returning to the club he played for 2019.

After a few wobbles early on – signing Nicolas Pepe will never reflect well – the Brazilian has, alongside Mikel Arteta, been crucial in the club’s transformation.

Arteta was brought in as the new manager within months of Edu’s return to North London and the former midfielder stuck by the boss when the pressure was on two years into the job.

Instead of making the knee-jerk decision to change manager again, the former Brazil international, joined forces with Arteta to institute a huge change of culture at The Emirates.

Overpaid toxic influences such as Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were purged from the dressing room and Arsenal set about adding strong characters.

Edu finally got the club competing in the transfer market again, with Martin Odegaard an outstanding capture for the club. In landing Declan Rice ahead of Manchester City last year Arsenal showed they couple compete for and sign some of Europe’s biggest talents once more.

Arsenal have become one of the most attractive clubs in the Premier League and one of the most efficient in the market.

While there have been big deals for the likes of Rice and Calafiori, there have been smart ones too – picking out value where others have lost hope.

Kai Havertz appeared as a surprising signing after a dreadful season at Chelsea. But after Edu gave the German space and support to rebuild his confidence he has developed into a fine asset for Arteta.

Edu does not only have a tight relationship with Arteta – who many fans will be glad signed a new deal before the sporting director’s departure – but the players too, always ready and waiting to check in, keep them going.

London Colney and The Emirates will feel a very different place for all of them without Edu.

Arsenal player ratings vs Newcastle

ARSENAL fell to defeat to Newcastle in a fresh blow to their title ambitions.

The Magpies won 1-0 thanks to a fine header from Alexander Isak.

Here, SunSport’s Jordan Davies rates the players…

DAVID RAYA – 6/10
Great early distribution to go long over the Newcastle press but nothing he could do with Isak’s pin-point header.

Was barely troubled in the second half but was forced to watch a lacklustre Arsenal dawdle to another defeat.

THOMAS PARTEY – 7
Looks really comfortable in that role, even if it is only temporary, but obviously lacks an attacking threat of a full-back which hindered Saka slightly.

Moved back into midfield on the hour mark with Arsenal chasing the game.

WILLIAM SALIBA – 7
A welcome presence back in the defensive line following suspension. Covered his defensive partner well and kept his cool amid Arsenal’s frustration.

GABRIEL – 5
Lost Isak in the box for Newcastle’s opener and nearly handed the hosts another chance with a sloppy pass out.

Normally a rock, this was one of those rare jittery displays we thought were a thing of the past.

JURRIEN TIMBER – 6
Looked good in attack but arguably should have closed down Gordon’s cross before the hosts took the lead and struggled to contain the England winger in the first half.

MIKEL MERINO – 5
Unfortunate not to get on the score sheet against his former club from close range after a scramble from a corner.

But as a whole, he currently looks lost in his position, unsure of when to go and when to sit deep, meaning Newcastle were able to prize Arsenal’s midfield open.

Feels like we are not seeing the best of him just yet.

DECLAN RICE – 6
On set-piece duty, his delivery was unusually poor, failing to beat the first man on numerous occasions and struggled to impose himself in open play too, even if he came close with a deflected effort in the second half before fluffing a great headed chance in injury time.

If he is going to be the anchor of this team and dictate play, he has got to be a lot better.

LEANDRO TROSSARD – 5
Pretty anonymous other than a few surging runs. Another player that looks lost in a floating No.10 role behind the main striker.

The Belgian is at his best cutting in and using his blistering pace. He can do neither through the middle against a compact opposition set-up.

BUKAYO SAKA – 6
Looked to be getting the better of Toon right-back Hall early on but his game faded after that, along with his team’s.

GABRIEL MARTINELLI – 7
Showed glimpses of being back to his buzzing best, taking on defenders and stretching the game for Arsenal, but only lasted an hour before being taken off.

KAI HAVERTZ – 6
Never got a sniff, but got to put that down to a complete lack of service from Arsenal’s wide players. He was desperate to attack a decent cross that never really came.

SUBS:
ETHAN NWANERI (MERINO, 61) – 6

Given a nice welcome to Tyneside with a crunching tackle from Willock seconds after coming on.

Found some nice pockets of space and look sharp as he blazed one over from range, but was always a big ask for him to be Arsenal’s saviour.

OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO (MARTINELLI, 61) – 5
Thrown on to bring tempo and control. Brought neither from an inverted left-back position.

BEN WHITE (TIMBER, 71) – 6
Had only completed half a session to prepare for this one having picked up a knock against Liverpool last weekend, so was a surprise to even see him at all.

GABRIEL JESUS (TROSSARD) – 5
Tasked with creating something special from out wide, but there is a reason the Brazilian is only a bit-part player nowadays.

JORGINHO (PARTEY, 86) – N/A

Nottingham Forest owner Marinakis has appeal against five-game ban REJECTED after he ‘spat on floor near referee’

NOTTINGHAM FOREST owner Evangelos Marinakis has lost his appeal against a five-game stadium ban for SPITTING – with his behaviour branded “disgusting”.

The 57-year-old was found guilty of improper conduct for launching his saliva towards the floor as the match officials walked past after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham in September.

The 57-year-old was accused of deliberately spitting towards a match official in September[/caption]

Marinakis, who has already served three games of the suspension, denied the charge, citing a hacking cough because he smokes two or three cigars a day.

He claimed the incident, which came after Forest lost following a VAR-awarded penalty, was therefore unintentional.

But the commission who turned down his appeal believed the Greek supremo “deliberately spat in a disrespectful and disgusting display of contempt towards the match officials”.

In publishing its written reasons for the decision, it added that there was “no excuse” for such an “egregious display of disrespectful behaviour” that could “fuel disrespect towards match officials” – and that a severe punishment was warranted to act as a deterrent.

Marinakis was furious after his side lost their unbeaten start to the season to a second-half penalty against the Cottagers in September.

Referee Josh Smith had awarded Fulham a penalty on the advice of VAR John Brooks, prompting the Greek to storm into the tunnel after the game.

After losing his appeal, the Forest owner will be banned from the stadium for games against Newcastle and Arsenal.

He will next be able to take his seat in the stands at the City Ground when his side host Ipswich Town on November 30.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Forest spent big over the summer and are currently reaping the rewards for strong recruitment.

They sit third in the Premier League, with five wins from their opening 10 games.

Marinakis pulled off another coup on Monday, tempting Arsenal sporting director Edu to join his growing empire of clubs.

The Brazilian had helped oversee the Gunners’ rise to title challengers under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal confirmed his resignation in a statement, writing: “We thank Edu for the part he has played in our renewed football strategy and driving the club forward with the values of Arsenal in his heart.”

Amy Dowden OUT of Strictly Come Dancing after medical emergency as she’s forced to step down from the rest of the series

AMY Dowden has been forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing for the rest of the series following her medical emergency.

Amy, who has Crohn’s Disease and has been battling cancer, missed the results programme last week after she was rushed to hospital.

Last week, Strictly confirmed she would be temporarily replaced by Lauren Oakley for both rehearsals and the live show.

It has now been revealed that Amy will not be returning to compete with her celeb partner JB Gill.

A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: “Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year.

“Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow Professional Dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner.

“The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority. The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes.”

It Takes Two host Fleur East revealed the news live on the spin-off show with the star saying: “Sending you all our love Amy, get well soon.”

The Welsh pro is said to be heartbroken at missing out on the rest of the series, but will be watching and supporting the JLS star from the sidelines.

Amy went on to break her silence with a statement via Instagram in which she said: “My heart is breaking right now. The past few months I finally felt like me again.

“Cancer was no longer the first thing I thought of when I woke up. It was choreography, music choices, which dances in which order, what we needed to work on. I felt free again.

“My goal since hearing those words you have cancer was to get back on the Strictly dance floor. It’s been such a challenge to get back, one I devoted 2024 too.”

She went on to add: “My heart right now is breaking having to pull out of the competition due to a foot injury and I know only too well ‘this too shall pass’ and I’ll be soon better and back dancing.

“Something I’ve had to get used to in my life. I’m sure at some point we will dance again JB.”

Her most recent foot injury comes after her fractured foot last November, which occurred whilst rehearsing a dance at home, three days after she finished cancer treatment.

It came after two gruelling rounds of chemotherapy, during which she contracted life-threatening sepsis.

Over the weekend, fans were left in tears as they watched Amy cheer on JB from the clauditorium.

Amy sobbed as Lauren and JB scooped a hugely impressive 39 out of 40 for their routine.

One fan was quick to take to the Strictly forum and wrote: “Amy’s putting on a brave face but she looks crushed. It’s making me cry.”

Amy Dowden's statement in full

“My heart is breaking right now. The past few months I finally felt like me again. Cancer was no longer the first thing I thought of when I woke up. It was choreography, music choices, which dances in which order, what we needed to work on. I felt free again.

“My goal since hearing those words you have cancer was to get back on the strictly dance floor. It’s been such a challenge to get back, one I devoted 2024 too. Which with my incredible team we got there. Something I wanted to do for myself and loved ones.

“There was no feeling like it dancing again in the ballroom with my strictly family. Then I was partnered with the talented, kind, gentle soul JB. Every day our training room was chilled, hardworking and full of big smiles enjoying what we was creating together with a blossoming friendship.

“JB thank you for being the perfect partner back. We topped the leader board week one and continued to work so hard and thank you for being so passionate about understanding the ballroom and Latin fundamentals.

“For me that rumba will always be one of my favs. I’m so sad, so upset and asking why me, why now that our journey has been cut short. My heart right now is breaking having to pull out of the competition due to a foot injury and I know only too well ‘this too shall pass’ and I’ll be soon better and back dancing.

“Something I’ve had to get used to in my life. I’m sure at some point we will dance again JB To all the fans, to my loved ones, my strictly family thank you.

“JB I know you and Lauren will continue to ace that dance floor I’ll forever be your biggest cheerleader.”

On Friday, Amy issued a fresh health update while on It Takes Two.

She told host Janette Manrara: “Yeah, I’m feeling so much better.

“And I’d just like to thank everyone for all the love and support I have received.

“And to my Strictly family, I’m feeling much better.”

An ambulance was called to the set at Elstree Studios after she collapsed backstage.

Although the dancer was said to be “doing much better”, BBC bosses confirmed that Lauren Oakley will step in.

Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: “Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the Strictly family send her love and wish her well.

“She is delighted that fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, is able to step in for rehearsals and to perform in Saturday’s show for JB Gill’s Couple’s Choice dance.

“We are all hopeful that Amy will be back to dance with JB next week.”

However, Amy revealed that even though she is not going to dance this weekend, she’s still very involved in JB’s rehearsals.

Speaking about her pride she admitted: “Not only did he have a new partner, [he had a] completely new style as well.

“And you know what? I’m just so proud. I’m so grateful to Lauren, but they’ve worked so hard.

“JB has been so supportive of me. He has knuckled down and the pair of them have been messaging all week saying ‘we just want to make you proud.'”

Lauren revealed that they had even been sending Amy videos of their rehearsals .

“Yeah I set up a little WhatsApp group and we’ve been sending Amy videos,” she said.

Keen to emphasise her involvement, Amy continued: “I called it ‘team’ – I know you love the word Team – and I put a star next to it.

Adding: “They’ve been sending videos and messages and everything.”

The TV personality has Crohn’s Disease and has been battling stage three breast cancer for almost 18 months.

Strictly 2024 pairings

JB also revealed that it was “surreal” for him having to switch partners midway through the competition.

“It was surreal, obviously, because I’m very much used to working with Amy,” he remarked.

“There have been times when we’ve had to work with Lauren, and so, you know, Lauren’s Lovely, she’s amazing. She’s an incredible dancer.

“Of course, we’ve been watching her doing the group numbers and so on throughout the series so far.

“And so for me, it was just a case of, ‘Right, we’ve got Lizzie and Kane helping us [choreographers]’,

“We’ve got a completely different style of dance as well. So I felt like there was a little bit less pressure, certainly, on Lauren and on both of us in terms of executing the dance.”
