Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s new Portugal home is ‘shrewd’ as she’s ‘concerned’ Harry will be ‘manipulated’ by royals

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly bought a new home in Portugal, and it is a “shrewd move”, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have snapped up a luxurious property in Alentejo, Portugal, just a stone’s throw away from Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

As reported by the Mail, the couple plan to set up a base there after being seen in the area last September following the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

A source told Closer: “Buying in Portugal is a shrewd move for Meghan.

“She’s deeply concerned that the Royal Family might manipulate Harry into reintegrating without her, so she needs to be proactive to make sure she’s not isolated or pushed to the sidelines.

“Now, if it is deemed safe from a security standpoint, it’s likely she’ll give her blessing for Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to see their grandpa, King Charles, at some point.

“And in terms of logistics, having a place in Portugal will make that easier, because Meghan can fly over with the kids without feeling trapped.”

Meghan has returned to the UK just twice since the Sussexes stepped down as working royals in 2020.

Both of the visits were in 2022, with the first being the late Queen’s Jubilee and then her funeral.

Prince Harry’s trips have been more frequent, with him doing four visits this year.

In September the Duke of Sussex, 40, made a solo trip to attend the WellChild Awards where he met seriously ill youngsters and their families.

During the whistle stop visit he did not meet up with Prince William and King Charles, according to reports.

The couple – who live with their two kids in California – are said to have splashed out on the home in Portugal after being asked to vacate their former UK home Frogmore Cottage by King Charles two years ago.

It is said to be close to Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie, Jack, August, two, and Ernest, five months, who are said to be splitting their time between living at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club and their life back in the UK.

The reason for the move is Jack’s job, as he is doing marketing, sales and promotion for property entrepreneur Mike Meldman, who is managing the 300-home development there.

The purchase may allow the Sussexes to acquire a “Golden Visa”, where they would have access to the EU’s Schengen area, reports the Daily Mail.

It will give them a base to stop off at whenever they make transatlantic flights to see friends and family, or make appearances at events.

They stepped down as working royals in March 2020 and have since fuelled a major rift with many members of the Firm thanks to controversial tell-all interviews and Harry’s memoir Spare.

Californian home

The Duke and Duchess purchased their first home together, a sprawling, nine-bedroomed property in Montecito, California, in June 2020 for $14.6 million (£11.2 million).

The 16-bath home is located in a star-studded enclave in California and sits on 5.4 acres of land.

Fit for royalty, it features a library, office, spa, gym, game room, wine cellar and five-car garage, it’s believed.

The estate also boasts sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool

There is even a chicken coop with “Archie’s Chick Inn”, which has rescue hens.

Inside Arsenal’s fight to find the next Bukayo Saka as club legend admits ‘all the resources’ go on EIGHT-year-olds

ARSENAL have tasked a former fan favourite with finding the next Bukayo Saka.

Ex-Gunners captain Per Mertesacker hopes to bring another golden ticket through the club’s youth ranks.

Arsenal first-team stars Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have all risen to fame through the Gunners Academy.

Mertesacker took over his current role as manager of the Arsenal youth setup in July 2018.

And the towering German believes the “most important age group” in the Academy is the under-9s.

He claims that by the age of 8, talented youngsters could have “five or six offers from clubs in London.”

Mertesacker told The Telegraph: “That is where the resources go and also where I need to present to parents.

“I would not call it an under-eight transfer market but it is probably close to that.”

Mertesacker adds that “football talent” initially gets you into the building on Wadham Road.

But he warned: “It’s the character that sets the ceiling. Kicking the ball around is not enough.

“We are big on respect and humility – you are here to respect yourself and make yourself better.

“You have to respect others and the environment as well.”

Mertesacker, who played 104 times for Germany, admits scouting young talent has come a long way from his own playing days.

He claims all he could do as an eight-year-old was “run in a straight line.”

But despite being tasked with creating the Premier League stars of the future, Mertesacker doesn’t rush his recruits.

The 40-year-old eases in youngsters to build an “inclusive environment.”

Mertesacker continued: “Obviously it is early, and at that age, you make it fun.

“You make it playtime, you make it musical. It’s a foundation phase, where they need to express themselves as much as possible.”

Liverpool impressed at Arsenal, but it was a match Jurgen Klopp probably would've won

By Jordan Davies

ON the face of it, Liverpool continue to go from strength to strength with Arne Slot’s tenure still in its infancy.

Away at Arsenal as title contenders — with a formidable record at the Emirates having won four of their last six there — the Reds fought back, not once, but twice to earn an impressive point to remain four clear of the Gunners.

Nine games in, Liverpool have seven wins, 22 points collected and sit in second in what is one of the club’s best ever starts to a Prem campaign.

Nothing to sniff at there, and that is without mentioning three straight wins in the Champions League and a 5-1 Carabao Cup third-round thumping of fellow top-flight side West Ham.

So to even attempt to pick flaws in Slot’s start with a run that solid would come across needlessly pedantic, deliberately nit-picky.

But, and there is a but, given the standards Liverpool have set in these early months, it needs to be said: this draw in North London was a massive missed opportunity.

And to go one step further, maybe this is a game Jurgen Klopp would have found a way to win?

It has been a long time since Arsenal have gone into a game feeling so vulnerable defensively with world-class centre-back William Saliba missing through suspension.

Full-back Riccardo Calafiori was also out injured, usual right-back Ben White began the game at centre-half and midfielder Thomas Partey started on the far right side of the defence.

And then, in a chaotic second half, both Jurrien Timber and Gabriel limped off, forcing Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to swap around his back line THREE times by the 76th minute.

And yet, despite all of that, a Liverpool side boasting attacking talents like Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo were hardly making the home fans sweat with a peppering of the Arsenal goal.

It was not until a Klopp-style counter-attack from back to front in the 81st minute did the visitors properly test the home defence.

But even that finish was a tame one — Salah tapping in past David Raya into an almost empty net.

And with nine minutes left plus seven minutes injury time, the expected onslaught for another, to nick all three points — the tally-ho approach — never came.

Not Klopp’s heavy metal style, more pleasant folk music with a ukulele in a country pub.

You get the impression that Slot was delighted with this outcome.
For large parts, Liverpool were defensively sound, gave very little away and snuck away back to Merseyside with a point tucked under their arm and a bloody nose avoided.

Yet it was in these sorts big blockbuster matches that Klopp and Liverpool thrived over their nine-year romance, full of excitement, thrills and last-gasp wins that earned them a Prem trophy in 2019-20 and plenty more down-to-the-wire chases with Manchester City.

And with Arteta’s Arsenal on their knees — quite literally in some cases — and hanging on for dear life, these are the moments in title races that require a bit of crazy, not caution.

A Klopp team of the past would have gone completely and totally Kloppy, throwing men forward at will, blasting their opponents away and forcing the ball into the net through passion and thunder alone, regardless of how open it left them at the back.

Slot is not this sort of coach.

He is measured, considerate, calm. Good qualities, but not always needed in do-or-die matches that ultimately determine where you finish in May.

It is hard to say if this will come back to haunt Slot, who still insists on avoiding any use of the phrase ‘title contenders’ despite clearly being title contenders.

With Aston Villa and Manchester City visiting Anfield over their next five Prem outings, we will see whether the Dutchman can loosen the leash and let his team grab games by the scruff of the neck instead of playing it safe.

Because as we have seen in this league, going for broke often rewards you — just ask the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola.

Fortune favours the brave.

Slot needs to discover his own version of that if he is to truly emulate Klopp and transform this Liverpool side into one capable of seizing moments when they matter most.

Mertesacker’s success was in evidence earlier this month in a Carabao Cup third round tie against Bolton.

Boss Mikel Arteta named academy product Jack Porter, 16, as goalkeeper for the clash.

It made him the youngest-ever player to start for the Gunners.

Teenagers Ayden Heaven, Josh Nichols, Ismeal Kabia and Maldini Kacurri could all feature in Wednesday’s fourth-round tie against Preston.

Arteta said: “It’s not a question about age, it’s that if they play it’s because they deserve to, the same as the rest of the players.

“At the end of the day, we have to reward the people who each day they behave in a certain manner and they have the level to play in the manner we want.

“I don’t care if they are players from the academy, youth players or seniors, tomorrow they will play.”

Southport ‘triple killer’ Axel Rudakubana in court on terror charges after ‘Al-Qaeda manual & ricin found at his home’

THE Southport “triple killer” has appeared in court on terror charges after an Al-Qaeda manual and ricin were allegedly found at his home.

Axel Rudakubana is accused of knifing Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, to death at a Taylor Swift dance class.

The 18-year-old was yesterday charged with terror offences – although cops insisted they are still not treating the July 29 rampage as a terror attack.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today via videolink from Belmarsh prison.

The teen refused to confirm his name, date of birth and address and remained silent during the brief hearing.

He was remanded into custody to next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on November 13.

Rudakubana is accused of possession of information “likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000″.

This relates to a PDF file entitled “Military Studies in the Jihad Against the Tyrants: The Al-Qaeda Training Manual”.

The teen also faces one charge of the “production of a biological toxin, namely ricin, contrary to Section 1 of the Biological Weapons Act 1974”.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy confirmed no trace of the deadly poison was detected at the dance club.

It was discovered following a search of Rudakubana’s home after the mass stabbing, it is said.

Explaining why the attack was not being treated as terror-related, Chief Constable Kennedy said: “For a matter to be declared as a terrorist incident, motivation would need to be established.”

Fury is now mounting over the development, with Tory hopeful Robert Jenrick questioning what Sir Keir Starmer knew.

Police and the Crown Prosecution Service are also under pressure to release a timeline of events.

Mr Jenrick said he was “seriously concerned” the facts had been deliberately withheld from the British public.

He added: “The Government and authorities told us for months they were not treating this as a terrorist incident.

“This atrocity was of immense public concern. The public had the right to know the truth right away.

“Any suggestion of a cover up will permanently damage trust in whether we are being told the truth about crime in our country.

“So Keir Starmer must urgently explain to the country what he knew about the Southport attack and when he learned it.

“Of course the legal process needs to be respected. But I’m seriously concerned the facts may have been withheld from the public.”

Rudakubana was born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and has an older brother.

He moved to Banks, a village in Lancashire located a few miles from Southport, in 2013.

The teen has been charged with three counts of murder and ten counts of attempted murder in relation to the attack.

He was also accused of possession of a bladed article – a curved kitchen knife allegedly used in the attack.

Rudakubana has been remanded into custody to face court on November 13 for those charges.

The horror unfolded on July 29 as children enjoyed a Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop at a community centre.

Hero dance teacher Leanne Lucas is understood to have been knifed in the arms, neck and back as she used her body to shield young girls from the knifeman.

Her colleague Heidi Liddle escaped uninjured after bravely locking some of the children inside a toilet.

Another adult, Jonathan Hayes, was stabbed in the leg as he tried to fend off the attacker after running into the class when he heard screams.

The attack sparked riots across the country – despite the local community and families of the victims calling for calm.

It came after false claims were spread online that the alleged killer was an asylum seeker.

Jesus proof ‘DASHED’ as study says Shroud of Turin ‘does not show son of God & image couldn’t have come from human body’

THE Shroud of Turin mystery continues as a bombshell study rules out the theory that the artefact was used as Jesus’ burial cloth.

Several theories have been made about the famed shroud which carries the imprint of the face and body of a bearded man that some believe resembles the son of God.

The shroud appears to show a man with sunken eyes who is between 5ft 7in to 6ft tall.

Some claim markings on the body resemble horror crucifixion wounds.

Signs of wounds from a thorny crown on the head, injuries to the arms and shoulders and lacerations to the back have all been reported by researchers.

However, a new study suggests that the impression of the print could not have come from Jesus’ head and that it is unlikely he ever touched it.

Various groups have repeatedly viewed the cloth with suspicion, as its documented history only starts in the mid-14th century in France when a bishop deemed it to be a fake.

Jesus’ death is believed to have taken place around 30-36AD.

While some believe it was the genuine material used to prepare the body of Christ for burial, others have disregarded the shroud as a medieval hoax.

Writer and researcher Cicero Moraes has added fuel to the fire by suggesting that the impression on the linen sheet could not have been made by a human body.

Instead, it was more likely created from a shallow carving, also known as a bas-relief, he claims in the new study.

To carry out this research, Moraes built a virtual simulation in which a fabric was placed over a body in a bid to replicate the famous shroud.

But the virtual fabric, when laid flat, showed “a distorted and significantly more robust image” than that on the shroud as a result of the change from 3D to 2D.

The imprints from the scalp and toes of the body were splayed outward in an odd manner while large parts of the torso, groin, and neck do not show at all, unlike the print on the original cloth.

The only time he could get an impression similar to the one on the historical artefact was when he used a shallow carving rather than a body.

“The explanation of the differences is very simple,” he said.

“When you wrap a 3D object with a fabric, and that object leaves a pattern like blood stains, these stains generate a more robust and more deformed structure in relation to the source.

“So, roughly speaking, what we see as a result of printing stains from a human body would be a more swollen and distorted version of it, not an image that looks like a photocopy.

“A bas-relief, however, wouldn’t cause the image to deform, resulting in a figure that resembles a photocopy of the body.”

As a result, Moraes is doubtful that the linen sheet was ever touched by Jesus’ body.

What are the theories about the Shroud of Turin?

SCHOLARS have wondered what caused the image on the Shroud of Turin for centuries. Here are some of the main theories.

  1. It’s a painting – Some believe that the Shroud was painted but investigations into this theory haven’t shown any signs of paint being present on the cloth
  2. It’s a natural process – Raymond Rogers of the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico argued in 2002 that a chemical transformation could cause it. He suggested that even moderate heat of around 40C or so, a temperature that post-mortem physicians told him a dead body could briefly attain if the person died from hyperthermia or dehydration – could be enough to discolour the sugary carbohydrate compounds that might be found on the surface of cotton fibres.
  3. It’s a photo – Scholars have concluded that the image is a “negative” meaning that it is dark where it should be light. This has led to some scholars suggesting it could be a form of primitive photography. The key to the idea is the light-sensitive compound silver nitrate which was known in the 8th Century but no evidence has been found that they could use it in this manner.
  4. It was caused by the Resurrection – The final theory is that the image was caused by the divine process that brought Jesus back to life. Some Christians believe that the picture on the cloth was caused by energy released when Christ was revived on the first Easter Sunday.

“I think the possibility of this having happened is very remote,” the Brazilian graphics expert concluded.

However, when addressing which side of the debate he falls on, he did not commit to calling the artefact a total forgery, saying that its qualities are more artistic than historic.

“I am inclined towards another approach: that it is in fact a work of Christian art, which managed to convey its intended message very successfully,” he explained.

“It seems to me more like a non-verbal iconographic work that has very successfully served the purpose of the religious message contained within.”

CONFLICTING THEORIES

Moraes’ study comes just months after a group of scientists claimed to have found evidence suggesting that the imprint of Jesus is real.

Researchers in Italy used X-ray technology to determine the age of the cloth and concluded that it was made around 2,000 years ago – the same time when Jesus was said to have lived and died.

Most estimates say Jesus was crucified in AD 33, based on the Julian calendar, Bible passages and gospels from the time – 1,990 years ago.

a poster explaining the shroud of turin with various labels

This study directly conflicted with findings from 1988 when the shroud was radiocarbon-dated to 1260-1390AD which does not correspond with the dates of Jesus’ life and death.

In 2013, another Italian researcher claimed to have dated the fibres of the Shroud to between 300 and 400 AD.

Five years later in 2018, researchers claimed the blood flow on the shroud was not consistent with that of what a bleeding body would produce.

It seems that the mystery is set to continue with experts from both camps going back and forth about the origins of the cloth.

Even The Vatican has held different positions on the artefact.

In 1390, Pope Clement VII declared that it was not authentic, but was “a painting or panel made to represent or imitate the shroud”.

Then, in 1506, Pope Julius II reversed course and declared it was authentic after all.

Modern popes have spoken of it with reverence, but have generally stopped short of declaring it genuine.

Pope Francis has referred to the Shroud as an “icon of a man scourged and crucified.”

However, it has not been labelled as a relic which are artefacts that the Church believes to be real.

Despite this, the Shroud remains one of the most important artefacts in the world and its mystery is set to continue.

The artefact has been preserved in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista in Turin, Italy since 1578.

Inside Kate Middleton’s inseparable bond with ‘pa’ King Charles & how she has played ‘peace-maker’ between him & William

THERE was a time when King Charles complained he rarely saw Prince William and his family, but these days he has a special bond with Kate.

Back in early 2015, some friends of the royals were saying that the then Prince Charles was unhappy because his elder son and wife never brought their toddler son Prince George to see him.

Princess Kate has grown closer to Charles, particularly with their health struggles this year, say experts[/caption]

The couple, it was alleged, were much closer to Michael and Carole Middleton.

Like all families, they have their ups and downs and the occasional tensions, while getting to see each other is complicated by the fact that the King is a workaholic.

But there is no doubt that the 75-year-old monarch and Queen Camilla are closer to the Prince and Princess of Wales these days.

The family’s rift with Harry and Meghan has helped to bring them closer, according to some insiders, and the King and Kate’s dual cancer diagnosis and treatment at the same time has deepened their bond.

For William it has been an awful time.

“His wife and father have both had operations and then both been subsequently diagnosed with cancer. It’s been tough,” one royal source said.

Kate, 42, has always been the steely one, holding the family together but has had to find  strength during her chemotherapy treatment from the love and support that her husband, children, and other relatives, including notably her father-in-law, have provided.

United over health

In January when they both found themselves in the same hospital, the London Clinic, for operations the King went to see his daughter-in law

He was in for an enlarged prostate and she was there for planned abdominal surgery.

It was a small gesture, one perhaps not so surprising, but it demonstrated their closeness in a world of royalty where family members worry that visiting sick relatives can be disruptive for the medical staff because everything tends to stop if the monarch comes calling.

When they both discovered they had cancer in the aftermath of surgery, Charles and Kate supported each other, according to well-placed sources.

He announced his diagnosis in February, choosing to share some details while deciding against revealing what type of cancer he was suffering from, beyond making it clear that it was not prostate cancer.

In contrast, the Princess decided to keep her diagnosis a closely-guarded secret initially, thinking that the right time to tell her children would be when they were going off for a month’s holiday at Easter and she could protect them from other pupils repeating what they might have seen or heard.

Kate Middleton's affectionate nickname for father-in-law King Charles

HE may be the King of England to us regular folk, but Charles is just 'grandpa' to his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton.

Princess Kate appeared to have used the moniker for her father-in-law during a meeting at the G7 summit in 2021, according to a lip reader.

Upon arriving, the duchess greeted her father-in-law, and a lip reader told CornwallLive that she said: “Hello Grandpa, how are you?”

King Charles is grandfather to Kate and William’s three adorable kids – Princes George and Louis and cheeky Princess Charlotte – so the name is only fitting.

His Majesty reportedly has a couple of affectionate names for Kate, including “beloved daughter-in-law” and “darling daughter-in-law.”

‘Emotional’ meal

As The Sun revealed shortly afterwards, when the right time finally came in March, the King went to see her for a heart-to-heart conversation over an “emotional” lunch at Windsor Castle the day before she released a video announcing her cancer diagnosis to the world.

He already knew about her illness and was keen to help her.

“They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter,” one source said.

She in turn wanted to speak to her father-in-law to see how the man she often calls “Grandpa” was coping.

“They are two patients going through a common health experience,” one royal source said, suggesting part of the agenda was to discuss  balancing how much detail to share with the public while preserving a degree of medical privacy.

“They are bound to have a close connection.”

Proud father-in-law

The next day after she had announced her news, Buckingham Palace said the King was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did”.

A spokesman said that after their time in hospital together, the monarch had “remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks” and both he and Queen Camilla “will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time”.

They have stuck to their promise and Kate too has regularly checked up on her father-in-law, while Camilla has been cheerily putting on a brave face in public and remarking that her husband does not rest as much as she wishes he would.

Charles made a change for Kate

In public, the affection in which Charles holds his daughter-in-law was plain to see when he installed her beside him on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the traditional flypast after Trooping the Colour in June, her first public appearance since her diagnosis.

Charles switched up tradition to have Kate next to him at Trooping the Colour this year[/caption]

Behind the scenes, the two couples spent a few days together at Balmoral last month while William and Kate’s children stayed in Windsor, where there have been plenty of opportunities for the King to catch up with the Waleses in the castle or at their Adelaide Cottage home in the grounds.

Kate has played peacemaker

William and Kate also took their children up to Balmoral earlier in the summer for the traditional family gathering.

William and his father have not always seen eye to eye, partly because the son resented his father’s frequent absences when he was younger.

They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter

Royal source

But Kate has helped to bring them closer together, according to royal biographer Robert Jobson.

“An instinctive peace-maker, she has smoothed the way for William and his father to have a better relationship than they had in the past,” Jobson wrote In his biography Catherine, The Princess of Wales, published earlier this year.

Charles eyes ‘light up’

As for Charles: “His eyes light up when he sees her at family functions, and they always make a bee-line for each other,” he wrote.

Charles and his mother the late Queen also helped smooth the way for Kate when she was new to the family, making her and her and the rest of the Middletons welcome, anxious not to repeat the mistakes of early decades when women entering the Royal Family were often left feeling isolated.

In his book, Meet Ella, about the dog that helped him battle depression, Kate’s brother James Middleton has written about how Queen Elizabeth sometimes invited them to stay at Sandringham.

Kate Middleton's inside jokes with King Charles

THE pair are often seen laughing together at public events and seem comfortable in each other’s company.

One example is when they made each other laugh at a Commonwealth Observance event at Westminster Abbey in 2015.

Charles is said to have welcomed Kate into the family after William announced they were encouraged.

Kate said Charles had been “very, very welcoming and very friendly” to her, while her father-in-law  said he was “thrilled” and “delighted” about the news.

Kate said in her engagement interview that she was “quite nervous about meeting William’s father,” but added that “it couldn’t have gone easier, really for me.”

He recalled how she asked him before his first visit: “Did you get my message, James? Ella is welcome to stay in your room.”

He paints a picture of warm family gatherings at both Sandringham House and Highgrove, visits that were never picked up by the media at the time.

“One Christmas, I popped into Highgrove to visit Catherine and William, who were staying with the King, who was then Prince Charles,” he writes, describing how Ella  (a cocker spaniel) wondered off and into a bathroom while James and Kate were chatting over a cup of tea.

An instinctive peace-maker, she has smoothed the way for William and his father to have a better relationship than they had in the past

Rob Jobson

“It wasn’t until later that I learned that she had made her way up to a private bathroom and had pushed open the door to say hello to the occupant as they were having a bath.

“I was absolutely mortified.”

It is all a world away from the impression that is sometimes given of a cold, austere family hidebound by hierarchy and tradition.

In the warm embrace of their family, both the King and the Princess have found a bond that has sustained them through what has been a dark period in their lives.

Mum shares simple hack for pumpkin carving with little kids & the £1 product to make them last longer before rotting

A SAVVY mum has shared her two simple hacks for pumpkin carving with little ones just in time for Halloween.

Those looking to get into the spooky spirit without spending hours with a knife cutting into a pumpkin will be thrilled by the easy Halloween tricks.

The mum’s easy tips will make pumpkin carving a breeze[/caption]

Keisha took to social media to share her hacks saying she wished she knew about them when she was a first-time mum.

After cutting the top of your pumpkin and taking out the inner flesh and seeds – she suggested using cookie cutters instead of a knife and stencils to put shapes in them.

She opted for some cute dinosaur cookie cutters to do it and placed it inside the pumpkin before smacking it through with a hammer.

Within seconds she had a perfectly carved pumpkin to put outside her front door to invite trick or treaters in.

The mum also recommended a £1 hack to keep pumpkins looking fresh for days.

While they typically start to rot within a couple of days of carving them – the mum recommended rubbing Vaseline over the pumpkin to stop the flesh from oxidising.

The Vaseline creates a barrier from oxygen making the pumpkin flesh stay fresher for longer.

While it’s a great idea, it should only be used with LED candles instead of ones with a flame as Vaseline can be flammable.

Keisha and her family then placed their pumpkins outside their front door after doing the hacks for a spooky scene.

The clip posted to her Instagram account @keisha_motherhood went viral with over 362k likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments.

One person wrote: “Oh wow this is cool. Thanks, I’m definitely going to do this.”

Another commented: “I like the cookie cutter idea”

“Oh my gosh this is a great idea,” penned a third.

Inside the weird world of Mike Tyson from smoking toad venom, blowing $300million and staring death in the face

MIKE TYSON’S world has included smoking psychedelics, running a cannabis empire and perhaps most surprisingly of all, now boxing again.

The heavyweight icon is on the verge of returning to the ring 15 years after retiring on his stool.

Now he is back in boxing once more[/caption]

Tyson faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on November 15 in Texas in a controversial clash slammed by many for the 30-year age gap.

The youngest heavyweight champion of all time, aged just 20 when he won the belt, did have an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

That was just a year after he first smoked TOAD VENOM in a bid to treat his substance addiction.

The practise involves venom being extracted from the glands of the Sonoran Desert toad, dried into a crystalline substance and smoked in a pipe.

Effects range from easing depression and post-traumatic stress disorder to panic, dysphoria and the complete loss of one’s sense of self.

Tyson’s first toad venom smoking ceremony lasted 20 minutes and left him fearing for his life.

Gerardo Sandoval, a pioneer for the practise, told The Times: “At the beginning he thought he was actually dying. He was demanding that I make it stop.

“He launched himself towards me. He tried to give me a punch, then the toad fully grabbed him and he fell. It gave him a knockout.

What is toad venom?

By

Toad venom is an extremely powerful natural psychedelic that is secreted in the glands of Colorado River toads. These toads are also referred to as the Sonoran Desert toad.

In the 1980s, people used to lick these Colorado River toads to experience a hallucinogenic effect from the toad’s venom, which contained 5-MEO-DMT.

Subsequently, people have now moved on from licking toads for their venom to smoking toad venom, in order to experience the widely-acclaimed psychedelic or hallucinogenic effect associated with the toad venom.

The effects of this powerful venom begin within 30 seconds of ingestion and take full effect within 5 minutes.

After this period, the user gets physically incapacitated for about 30 minutes.

The effects of the fast-acting psychedelic substance take place within five minutes after ingestion.

“What Mike went through was almost like a rebirth. He stopped
taking antipsychotic and sleeping pills because he wasn’t sad or angry
any more.

“He started to lose weight, he changed his diet, he shifted
into a healthier mode of living.”

Tyson has now smoked the toad over 50 times since his frightening first experience.

Iron Mike has also made fortunes from a cannabis empire of his own.

There was once a time he filed for bankruptcy having blown through $300MILLION (£230m) during his prizefighting career.

But he recouped his wealth in retirement as a pop culture icon, featuring in films like comedy classic The Hangover.

He then ventured into the marijuana business and his company’s chief executive claimed they did nine figures in revenue last year.

And his wealth is set to rocket up another $40m (£30m) when he shares the ring with 10-1 Paul over eight two-minute rounds.

They were initially due to fight on July 20 but Tyson was forced to pull out after suffering a stomach ulcer flare up during a flight.

It was also just two years ago that the reformed Baddest Man on The Planet was pictured leaving Miami airport in a wheelchair due to sciatica.

But Tyson has been passed medically fit to resume training, which he does six days a week in Las Vegas.

He has three fledgling professional heavyweight sparring partners living in a shared house with coach Rafael Cordeiro.

Billy White, a childhood friend who was also trained by D’Amato, recently reunited with Tyson.

And White said: “Cus always taught us that age was nothing but a number, and Mike has looked 25 years old in that ring.”

Tyson – who spent three years in prison from 1992 for a rape conviction – is happily married to third wife Lakiha Spicer.

And she is described as as the mastermind behind Tyson’s business ventures, also helping run his current training camp.

Florida-based coach White, who witnessed Tyson’s rise, fall and reincarnation, compared him to a phoenix.

White said: “He rises from the ashes, no matter what. There is no
obstacle he can’t overcome.”

I tried 5 viral cheap heating hacks at home – a £2 supermarket buy warmed my freezing bedroom & I found a cold feet cure

JUST like millions of cash-strapped Britons, I, too, struggle with the ever-rising costs – which often means I’m shivering at home.

The recent 10% hike in energy bills, which sees Ofgem‘s customers pay almost £150/year more, has led thousands searching for cost-effective ways to stay warm without relying on heating.

As a 28-year-old living in London, most of my money goes towards rent – and I’m on the lookout for ways to keep the heating off for as long as long as possible

Another simple way to stop pouring money down the drain and make your heating more effective is by moving the furniture away from the radiators[/caption]

As a 28-year-old living in London who’s just started her career, an unfairly huge lump of my paycheck goes towards rent, bills, buying groceries, gym membership, as well as going to the pub for a cheeky Aperol Spritz more than I probably should.

This means that by the end of the month, there’s not enough funds left to blast the central heating on all day and night – as much as my two flatmates and I would like to.

But with the temperatures now slowly but surely dropping, as we approach the harsh winter season, I wanted to see if any of the viral hacks I cover on a daily basis actually work – or a myth you shouldn’t bother with.

From using a crisp packet to a special water bottle hack, here’s how it went…

Time to stock up on nuts

a person is holding a bag of smoky bbq almonds cashews
Whilst some use a crisp packet to make the radiators more effective, I found that an empty packet of nuts does the same job – and it’s healthier too
supplied

I’m a health fanatic who spends most of her free time at the gym – so seeing packets of crisps is not something my guests would often come across when visiting me.

However, there might be a good reason why I should start adding one of the nation’s favourite snacks to my diet every now and then – and it’s not to grow a layer of fat to stay warm.

According to Mark McShane, heating guru at Boiler Cover UK, an empty crisp packet can actually improve the radiator’s performance.

Mark explained: “By placing a reflective material, such as an empty crisp packet, behind your radiators, you can bounce the heat back into your room instead of letting it escape through the walls.

”It’s an easy, cost-effective way to make the most of your heating.”

To boost the heating, I first cleaned an empty packet of nuts and secured it with double-sided tape, before positioning it behind the radiator with the shiny side outwards.

My room, one of the three bedrooms in our two-floor flat, is notoriously the coldest – however, this trick, which can also be done using kitchen foil, worked… kind of.

Maybe because the nut packet, naturally, didn’t cover the full size of the radiator, I should’ve opted for kitchen foil – which I’ve also seen cash-savvy people raving about.

Leave The Door Open

It’s one of Bruno Mars‘ and Anderson .Paak‘s most catchy tunes – but the two music gurus may have also dropped some knowledge bombs with their Grammy-winning hit Leave The Door Open.

This is because plenty of thrifty experts have advised leaving the oven door open once you’re done whipping up a delicious dinner.

The logic here is pretty straightforward and simple – opening the oven door after cooking will allow the hot air to escape and heat up your home for no extra cost.

Although this certainly did not heat up the full property, the hot air flow made the old kitchen feel more cosy in practically no time – however, make sure the oven is switched off, so you’re not wasting money.

Should you clean the inside of your radiators?

Apparently, homeowners should clean the inside of radiators once a year.

Fabulous’ Associate Editor, Rebecca Miller, is cleaning-obsessed. She shares her thoughts on this cleaning hack.

“My standards of cleanliness, and tidiness are impeccably high. People have walked into my flat and told me it looks like a show home. I am so determined to keep it looking brand new, that I am constantly cleaning.

But one thing I have never cleaned is the inside of my radiators.

I’ve lived at my flat for nearly 5 years, and not once have I thought about blowing hot air down the vents, or getting wire cleaners to fiddle about and disrupt the dust, never mind, throwing a Zoflora solution down the inside.

However, whilst it might seem like the last cleaning chore to do in the summer, it is important to get it done before you start using your radiators.

Heating expert, Nicholas Auckland previously told The Sun that if you have clogged up radiators, you could end up paying £65-£119 extra a year on heating bills, because they have to work twice as hard to pump heat into your home.

With this in mind, I’m off to clean the inside of my radiators – brb…”

Hot water bottle just got even hotter

Using a hot water bottle throughout the colder months – or around your period – is a must when lounging on the sofa and catching up on your favourite reality TV series.

But what if you could make this winter essential even hotter?

Well, according to savvy Redditors, aluminium foil can be used to make a hot water bottle stay warm for longer.

Similarly to the empty crisp packet, the ”metal foil reflects thermal radiation, so to make the heat last longer you can tape a piece of foil on the opposite side of the bottle to the one in contact with your body”, explained one thrifty social media user.

Although this trick didn’t seem convincing at first, it worked – but it’s worth noting that the bottle became a little Too Hot to Handle, so I just used it as an easy way to keep my bed warms before going to sleep.

Get your footwear winter-ready

supplied
As someone whose feet are constantly cold, I was pleasantly surprised by this game-changer of a hack[/caption]

Unless you’re a die-hard fashionista who loves sporting teeny skirt and a thin jacket no matter the weather, most of us have already ditched flimsy cardigans for proper winter coats.

But according to one hack whizz, DaveHax on YouTube, there’s a foolproof way to make your footwear – and toes – even cosier before bracing the cold outside.

“Before you go out, you can warm your shoes up with a hairdryer”, he explained in a video, advising to also snap up thermal socks.

As someone who grew up in Latvia where the temperatures can plummet to as low as -30, thermal gear is nothing novel to me – however, I was shocked I had never thought of blasting the hairdryer into my winter boots.

It may sound bizarre – but this trick was amongst the winners for me and my usually-frozen feet.

That’s hot rating: 10/10

Get moving

Being active has numerous benefits for both your physical and mental health – but here, I am not talking about moving your body.

As the colder months roll in, Brits have been advised to do a little revamp and move their furniture away from the heat source – as any bulky sofas and other decor will block the hot air from flowing around freely.

Seeing as my bedroom is not the most spacious and my bed doesn’t fit anywhere else but right in front of the radiator, I decided to put the easy trick to test downstairs in the hallway.

With the decorative wooden table and plants now out of the way, the radiator was finally working properly – which means my flatmates and I weren’t pouring money down the drain.

That’s hot rating: 10/10

I’m in my 40s with no wrinkles – a £10 buy is as good as Botox but £240 cheaper & I love a free tip

AN age-defying woman in her forties has revealed how she keeps her skin looking youthful without Botox.

Farah Bashir said she’s developed a dedicated skincare routine that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and protects from further damage.

Farah Bashir

Bashir, 45, founded the beauty brand Sachi Skin after 20 years spent working as an aesthetician in London.

Speaking to The Sun, she revealed the tricks of the trade that she swears by for maintaining an ageless appearance.

A consistent skincare routine tops her list of the most important things for effectively reducing fine lines.

“As someone in my forties, I rely on skincare to delay the need for Botox,” she said.

“We recommend using retinoids to boost collagen production and smooth the skin’s texture.

“Hydrators like glycerin and hyaluronic acid provide plumping hydration, softening the appearance of lines.

“Regular exfoliation also helps smoothen the appearance of lines and wrinkles and sun protection to prevent UV damage is crucial.

“Facial massage techniques can also help relax tension in the muscles, boost circulation, and nourish the skin with vital nutrients.”

Boots Retinol Night Serum costs just £10.50, while Botox costs around £100 – £350 per cycle according to the NHS.

Bashir said several studies support the use of retinoids to boost collagen for a more youthful appearance.

Her brand offers a “first-of-its-kind Ayurvedic Retinoid System” that combines the vitamin A derivative with Ayurvedic botanicals such as Rosemary, Holy Basil, Black Cumin and Ursolic Acid.

She describes it as a “high-performance yet gentle retinoid system.”

“Using a retinoid system should be a Marathon approach versus a Sprint,” she said.

“The end goal in 30- 60- 180 days remains the same but with our new formulation, we are looking to get you to your end goal without all the surface level irritations of retinoids high percentage retinoid systems.

“Like the philosophy of Ayurveda itself a more skin-respecting and harmonised approach to great results.”

She said the Ursolic Acid and Retinol Overnight Reform makes skin appear smoother in 28 days.

The £76 which targets wrinkles and fine lines has been rated 4.8 out of 5 by customers.

Bashir said vitamin C, niacinamide, and retinaldehyde should also be used in skincare routines to fade pigmentation.

The ingredients are key when trying to target dark under-eye circles.

However, under-eye bags require a combination of dedicated skincare and lifestyle habits.

“For instance, try avoiding tear-jerker movies before bed to prevent puffy eyes in the morning,” she said.

“Cooling eye creams with ingredients like caffeine, peptides, and brighteners can help de-puff and firm the skin.

“Gentle lymphatic drainage massage using a cold spoon or eye massager stimulates circulation and reduces fluid retention.”

Bashir said the hands should be treated like your face as sun spots, loss of collagen, and moisture are ageing.

She said hand creams that contain glycerine and ceramides are essential for restoring moisture.

“Incorporate a gentle, non-irritating retinoid as a serum treatment for the skin on your hands to target fine lines, wrinkles, and boost collagen production, helping to keep the skin firm and plump,” she said.

What is Collagen?

  • Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and provides strength and structure to the skin and muscles
  • It plays a significant role in maintaining skin elasticity and hydration
  • As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles, sagging skin and decreased skin firmness
  • Collagen production starts to dwindle in our mid-to-late 20s and early 30s. By 40, it has dropped dramatically

It’s important to note that while collagen-based skincare products may offer benefits, their effectiveness can hugely vary.

Some experts suggest that topical application of collagen may have limited effectiveness compared to other skincare ingredients that stimulate collagen production within the skin.

“A dark spot serum, like Sachi Skin’s Triphala Pigmentation Corrector, can help target and prevent the appearance of dark spots, which tend to creep up as you age.

“It’s crucial to start using these serums on your face, hands, neck, and chest as early as possible.”

Bashir said sunscreen should be worn daily to preserve skin health and the anti-aging ingredient can be found in some makeup products alongside hyaluronic acid.

She recommends teaming skincare with dietary choices for the best results.

“Supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants support skin health by fighting free radicals that accelerate ageing,” she said.

“Research is also emerging on the benefits of oral collagen peptide supplements for skin elasticity and hydration.

“In general, a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals is ideal for boosting overall skin health.”

Youngest daughter of businessman Laurence White, Rebecca was a free-spirit who ended up pregnant with her sister’s husband’s baby, before being kidnapped by her serial killer nephew Lachlan, brain damaged and an orphan after he killed the majority of his family.

She ended up falling for Ross Barton and the pair left the village having sold Home Farm, unknowingly, to Kim Tate.

Inbetweeners actress Emily Head played Rebecca between 2016-2018 and now it looks like she will never return.

In today’s episode of Emmerdale, Ross opened up to ex Charity Dingle about what had happened in his life since leaving the village.

But as Charity asked where Seb – and his mother – are – Ross dropped a bombshell revealing: “Rebecca’s dead.”

Explaining what happened he told Charity: “Me and Rebecca, we’d been split up a while. Pretty amicable in the end as it goes, I was still getting to see Seb.

“Then one day she called me, saying she had to go into hospital for a routine operation. Nothing serious but could I look after Seb. No problem.

“We went Go-Karting, he loved it, we both did. And then I helped him make a card for his mum but he never got to give it to her.

“We were both having a pizza when we got the call. Turns out I was still listed as her next of kin.

“They said it was a one in a thousand chance, her heart just stopped and that was it. I let Seb go to sleep not knowing that he didn’t have a mum anymore.”

He revealed Robert, Seb’s biological father, still being in prison for murder meant that Seb went to live with Rebecca’s aunt in Bristol.

“The next morning I told him what had happened and he cried himself to sleep pretty much every night.

Most devastating soap deaths

SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust.

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years.

EASTENDERS

Barry Evans – Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying.

Her plan to inherit Barry’s fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files.

Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was “fake”.

Bradley Branning – Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater’s rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died.

He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape.

Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death.

CORONATION STREET

Tina McIntyre – Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow – despite him being married to Carla Connor.

When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla’s brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her.

Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony – then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her.

In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe.

Molly Dobbs – Molly was one of the victims in Corrie’s 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold).

Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death.

This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth.

As fate would have it, Kevin’s wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly’s side in her final moments.

Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack’s father, before dying of her injuries.

Vera Duckworth – Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character.

Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap’s most beloved couples.

Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair.

Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey’s exit as Jack.

Paul Foreman – Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease.

Introduced in 2018 as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance – and marriage – with vicar Billy Mayhew.

The MND storyline was announced in 2023 – with the expectation it would result in the character’s death.

EMMERDALE

Sarah Sugden – After the family got into financial problems, Sarah’s son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn.

He didn’t realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze.

Nine villagers – The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale.

Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash.

Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died.

HOLLYOAKS

Carmel McQueen – The talented singer died in shocking scenes when a train crashed into a her family’s car.

Carmel managed to free her cousin Theresa from the rubble – but got stuck in it herself.

Moments later the train exploded and Carmel died in the arms of her family members, promising to be their guardian angel.

“And from then on everywhere he went, I went, I was always by his side. But that doesn’t change the fact that Seb isn’t mine.

“They took him from me, Charity. They took him from me and there was nothing I could do.”
