A SPORTING fan burst into tears when asked about Ruben Amorim’s potential switch to Manchester United.

The Portuguese has emerged as the favourite to take over at Old Trafford following Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

But Amorim is their No1 choice and United are willing to trigger his £8.3million release clause.

Amorim is said to be open to the switch too, which is not good news for Sporting fans.

Supporters flocked to the Jose Alvalade Stadium ahead of their game against Nacional and some were asked about Amorim’s future.

One elderly fan burst into tears when asked about the prospect of the 39-year-old leaving the club.

He was only able to muster a few words before clasping his hand his hand over his mouth, before wiping away tears from his eyes.

Amorim is a popular figure amongst fans after leading Sporting to their first league title for 19 years.

He followed up that success by winning the Primeira Liga again last season, and this term he has a 100 per cent record from nine games.

Amorim has built a reputation for improving players while handing opportunities to young players – which bodes well for United’s young talent.

While he is described as a “master trash-talker” in press conferences – a genius in getting his message across, creating a narrative while deflecting pressure away from his players.

As one source told SunSport: “There is no one like him.”

Alongside a picture of his daughter, the cornerback shared a loving message.

He said: “We are heartbroken that our beautiful baby girl, Amani Joy passed away on Monday morning.

“She was the best blessing we could have asked for, and her joyous spirit made us smile from ear to ear.

“She taught us to have patience, trust, and a positive outlook on life. She showed us true strength and bravery.

“She overcame adversity at a young age and was always happy, lighting up every room with her smile.

“Having the privilege of being her parents and seeing the world through her eyes has changed us for the better.

“She will forever be daddy’s best friend and mommy’s little girl.

“We’ll miss you and love you forever, Amani Joy.”

The 49ers also released a statement which read: “The 49ers family is devastated by the sudden passing of Charvarius Ward’s beloved one-year-old daughter, Amani Joy.

“Amani truly embodied pure happiness and brought joy to all those around her with her sweet demeanor and contagious laugh.

“We will continue to grieve with Charvarius and Monique, while sending them our love and support during this unimaginable time.”

Ward and partner Monique welcomed Amani Joy into the world in November 2022.

In March, on World Down Syndrome Day, the NFL star shared a post opening up about his daughter’s condition.

He said: “I used to think Down Syndrome was a handicap but now I realise it is just a gift from God.

“Being Amani’s dad has taught me patience & how to surrender & let things be.”

Ward featured for the 49ers in Sunday’s 30-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

It is not yet known whether he will feature against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his team’s next game on November 10.

Speaking on stage at an intimate show in Colorado on Monday, he explained: “I was really young when I started. I was 15 years old.

“The truth is that I didn’t get to do a lot of 15-year-old things and discover parts of myself that you do at 15.

“Since I was really young, there’s this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it so long.

“I think it’s kind of silly, because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes.

“It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me.

“Something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover.”

He added: “The truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone.

“And I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times.”

It’s the first time they’ve all been seen in a room together since Little Mix completed their final tour in May 2022.

So I can’t say I’m surprised to learn that the Good Luck, Babe! singer has had another major falling out, sacking her manager after a bitter row about her future.

Music industry ace Nick Bobetsky, who was named one of the world’s greatest managers by Music Business Worldwide earlier this year, had been with Chappell since 2020.

He helped pick up the pieces and turn her into a star after she was brutally dropped by Atlantic Records.

A source said: “Nick signed on to manage Chappell shortly before Atlantic dropped her in 2020.

“After they did, he was the one who helped turn her fortunes around and make her the star she is today.

“It’s no secret that the stress of international success has taken its toll on Chappell and they had been clashing more and more about the direction she should go in.

“In one regard it’s gutting they are no longer working together but those in her circle saw it coming.”

Speaking just weeks ago, Nick gushed about Chappell’s epic 12 months and how she worked with him around the clock to hit the big time.

Nick said: “It was hard for her to get dropped.

“But it led to a focus on what to do next.

“When she was still only 19, it was clear to me that Chappell was going to be an artist that really mattered for a long time.”

AT LEAST 12 people have been killed and 40 others injured after a bus smashed into a concrete tunnel.

The tragic crash took place after the driver veered out of control in Rajasthan’s Sikar district in India on Tuesday.

The privately operated bus lost control on a road in Sikar before colliding with a culvert at around 2pm, say police.

Terrified eyewitnesses told cops the bus started to swerve erratically before hitting the concrete structure at speed.

Two passengers are believed to have died during the initial impact with harrowing pictures showing the aftermath of the accident.

The front of the bus can be seen completely crushed as emergency workers use a crane to try and move the wreckage.

Three others tragically died during surgery, said SK Hospital Superintendent Mahendra Khichad.

Around 23 people are still undergoing treatment for various serious injuries.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma gave a heartfelt statement after the crash.

He said: “It is truly heartbreaking that lives were lost in this unfortunate incident.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who have passed away.

“Rest assured, the authorities have been tasked with ensuring that the injured individuals are provided with the best possible treatment.”

There has been no confirmation on what caused the crash as of yet.

India’s prime minister Narendra Modi announced plans to give the loved ones of the deceased 200,000 Indian Rupees – the equivalent of £1,829.

Those who survive their injuries will be gifted 50,000 Indian Rupees (£457), according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
