28/10/2024 - Chelmsford - Members of an "anti-establishment cult" have been jailed for up to seven years for storming a court with handcuffs and trying to kidnap a coroner. Mark Christopher, 59, led the group that tried to shut down Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford having accused senior coroner Lincoln Brookes of "interfering with the dead" in April 2023. Matthew Martin, 47, Sean Harper, 38, and his wife Shiza, 45, were part of the group and believed they could overrule the UK judicial system. All four were sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court having been convicted of conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to commit false imprisonment. Christopher, of Claremont Road, Forest Gate, east London was also found guilty of sending a letter or email with intent to cause distress or anxiety. He was jailed for seven years, while Sean and Shiza Harper, of Benfleet Park Road, South Benfleet in Essex, and Martin, of Evelyn Denington Road, Plaistow in east London, were given 30-month sentences. Matthew Martin was sentenced to 30 months in prison

Mark Kishon Christopher, Sean Harper, Shiza Harper, and Matthew Dean Martin were all wearing high-vis jackets, body-worn cameras and were carrying handcuffs when they walked into Seax House in Chelmsford, Essex, on April 23 last year.

The cult, led by Christopher interrupted a live inquest hearing as they demanded to know the whereabouts of Mr Brookes.

The judge, Mr Justice James Goss, said all four were members of a group called the Federal Postal Court, or the Court for the People, which had “self-conferred” powers.

Mark Christopher, 59, was described as the “self-appointed leader” who went by the title of Chief Judge of England and All Dominions.

Matthew Martin, 47, was a sheriff and coroner, Sean Harper, 38, was a sheriff and his wife Shiza Harper, 45, was a postal inspector for the group, the judge said, with all three “qualified by” Christopher.

The judge said Christopher “lay at the very heart of these offences” as he jailed him for seven years.

He said Martin, Harper and Harper “were prepared to commit offences while doing his bidding”, and jailed them for 30 months each.

Essex area coroner Michelle Brown – who had been conducting inquests from paperwork and without witnesses or family present – told an earlier trial that the group came into her courtroom.

She said that the leader, Christopher, “kept demanding that I find and get Mr Brookes”.

Mr Brookes told the earlier trial that he received a series of “very bizarre” letters in 2022 before receiving emails in April 2023 stating that “corporal punishment may be administered”.

He described the emails, which claimed to be warrants “for seizure of goods and persons”, as “troubling” and “upsetting”.

Mr Brookes said that in an attachment to an email he was accused of “detrimental necromancy”.

He said, in a victim impact statement read out in court by prosecutor Allister Walker on Monday: “I regularly have nightmares about the incident and the suspects attending my home.”

Mr Brookes said he has had “initial trauma therapy” and is now “hyper vigilant about the safety of my family and myself”.

He said he had been driving to the court, having accompanied a family member to a hospital appointment that morning, when he received a call about what had happened and he turned around.

Mr Brookes said he was warned not to come to the building and was told “these are the people from the letter – they’re coming to get you”.

He said he suffers “flashbacks of the journey home” and at the time “was wondering if the cars around me were following me or trying to beat me to my house”.

Ms Brown told the court on Monday “I do believe I will never feel safe”, adding: “I wake up at night thinking I can hear someone trying to get in, then I sit up all night.”

Christopher, of Forest Gate, east London, Martin, of Plaistow, east London, Shiza Harper and Sean Harper, both of South Benfleet, Essex, all denied conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to commit false imprisonment, but were all found guilty on both counts following a two-week trial.

Christopher was also found guilty of sending threatening letters to Mr Brookes with intent to cause distress or anxiety.

The judge jailed all four, ordered each to pay a £228 surcharge and subjected each to a restraining order, barring them from entering any courthouse in England and Wales without a prior appointment and blocking them from contacting Mr Brookes or Ms Brown.

He noted that when he offered Christopher the opportunity to speak in court, Christopher “appeared to understand but averted (his) eyes as soon as I started speaking” and remained silent.

Mr Walker said Christopher “refused to engage in proceedings throughout”.

Martin, who represented himself, said he was “here to save younglings” and “we find younglings tied up in places like underneath Asda supermarkets”.

Narita Bahra KC, for Sean and Shiza Harper, said the couple had been “in thrall” of Christopher and had been “indoctrinated to believe (he) was a judge who had the power to serve warrants”.

She said they were at the start of “what I will call an awakening”.

As the group were led to the cells, Martin faced the public gallery and said “you know what to do, tell them I love them ok” as a woman wept and left the courtroom.

Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Hutchinson, of Essex Police, said afterwards: “Whilst we appreciate freedom of opinion, this group’s ideologies are nothing more than nonsensical intimidation and oppression with no regard for the law.

“Christopher told the group that they could take control of an active court, make arrests, and threaten public servants who were just trying to do their job supporting the people of Essex.”

He commended the “bravery” of Ms Brown and her staff present in the court, and that of Mr Brookes who was the “target of this terrible plot”.

Gogglebox’s Daniel Lustig reveals who he’s dated since marriage split – and key thing new partner has to ‘tolerate’

GOGGLEBOX star Daniel Lustig has revealed he’s back dating again since his marriage split – but there’s one thing a new partner will have to ‘tolerate.’

The TV personality left fans shocked after he and Stephen called time on their romantic relationship after 11 years together, and six years of marriage.

The star started dating someone and revealed what happened[/caption]

But hair salon owner Daniel has moved on and even started dating someone new, after admitting he’s “not afraid” of the apps.

Daniel told The Sun: “I was dating someone – if you can even call it that – we went on four dates in London, and it was really fun.

“But that was literally the first guy I dated since the split, so it was a bit of a learning curve.

“We were very similar in age though, we had a lot in common, it was very nice and we had a lot of fun.”

But Daniel admits that things between the two of them “dried up” romantically.

The 49-year-old, who said he’d be more than keen to give Celebs Go Dating a go, said people haven’t really clocked on to his Gogglebox fame.

Asked if he was worried people would swipe right because they’d seen him on the show, Daniel shared: “The people I have chatted to or met haven’t mentioned it on the first or second date, and if they sort of slip it in, I think ‘Oh, that’s quite cool.’ You know what I mean. I don’t want dating to be like an interview.”

And the single star is trying his hardest not to be picky on his dating quest, sometimes unsuccessfully.

Daniel added: “I’ve been quite open, actually, because in the past I’d be like ‘they must be this age, ‘they must look like this. But now my age bracket is more open than it used to be. So that’s interesting.

“To be honest, I’m not too picky but then when I meet them I can really be picky.

“I also don’t like all the texting on the apps, I don’t want a pen friend!”

And the show favourite shared that anyone he dates will also have to accept that he and ex Stephen are still good friends.

Daniel playfully added: “It’s something people will just have to put up with. We’re business partners and also dog daddy’s as we share a dog together.

Gogglebox stars Stephen and Daniel's relationship timeline

Hairdressing duo Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig got engaged back in 2016 and married two years later.

The couple co-own a hair salon and live in a £575,000 property on Brighton’s sought after seafront.

At the time of the engagement, Stephen appeared on Gogglebox alongside his ex-boyfriend Chris Ashby-Steed.

In 2019, Daniel made his Gogglebox debut and was immediately a big hit.

Chris, who is now in a happy relationship with husband Tony, spoke publicly about how the show affected his mental health.

Having relocated to Wales and quit showbiz, Chris said he was racked with anxiety during his time on the programme.

Just last year Daniel and Stephen shocked Gogglebox fans when they announced they were leaving the programme. Daniel had been part of the show since its launch in 2013.

Their departure opened up a new world of opportunity for the duo and it was soon announced that Stephen would take part in Dancing on Ice. But disaster struck and injury ruled him out before the live shows.

There were further gasps of shock in April when we revealed the pair had split up. They vowed to remain friends and looked to be true to their word, sharing a smiley picture the following day with Stephen’s mum on the seafront.

“When I met Stephen I was still pals with my ex, and he took that on the chin.

“You don’t have to be really good friends with these people but you have to respect it. It’s some Louis Vuitton baggage!”

Daniel doesn’t want to “live on the apps” when it comes to meeting someone knew, instead saying he prefers a more traditional way of going about things.

“I’d like to meet someone out, strolling along the beach with my dog or in a bar, like how it used to be.

“If a friend set me up on a date I’d have to put the parameters out there, and if they got it wrong I’d probably never speak to my friend again!”

Despite Daniel’s hunt for romance, the star is busy juggling owning two hair salon businesses, alongside a life in the spotlight as a TV personality.

He’s recently appeared on The Weakest Link, and shares his desire to one day take to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor, but “doesn’t feel famous at all.”

Daniel added: “If we’re not filming anything or doing anything like life is just the same as everyone elses.

“I’m going out on the beach picking up the dog poo in the rain. I’ve got to run to get in my car quickly to get to work so I’m not late, you know, living the same life as everyone else.”

And on a Gogglebox return? Well, Daniel says “never say never.”

I’m a former Strictly pro and FOUR celebs were overmarked this week – and one dance was a complete MESS

FORMER Strictly professional Ola Jordan thinks that FOUR celebrities were overmarked this week – and one dance was a complete mess.

The 42-year-old appeared on the BBC show between 2006 and 2015.

She thinks that Jamie was overscored[/caption]

Saturday night’s instalment of the competition saw the celebrities dress up for Halloween Week – which saw Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsaikkas take the top spot of the leader board with 38 points.

There were a lot of high marks in the 30s, with nine of the 11 couples receiving above 30 points.

And the dancer thinks that some of them didn’t deserve it.

When asked if she thought the judges’ scoring was fair, Ola told Mecca Bingo: “It was way overmarked. They were throwing tens like there was nothing.

“Jamie and Michelle got two 10s. Ten is like perfection and that wasn’t perfection.

“Sarah and Vito got 10s maybe one 10, but two 10s? I disagree.”

“Tasha and Aljaž got a 10 but I didn’t believe that was a 10.

“I love them and I’m a big fan of them both, but I think that was the worst dance for them. It was messy for me.

“Obviously, it was part of the theme that they were shaking but it was just a mess.

“She got 10 from Anton, that’s not a 10, definitely a nine but not a 10.

“Overall, I think they overmarked like Montell got three nines for that Cha Cha.

“Her footwork wasn’t a nine for me. I think they tried to hype up the whole show, so they threw so many tens around.”

Sam and Nikita were awarded 31 points for their Jive performance.

Ola didn’t hold back, and added: “That was probably my least favourite dance of Sam’s. I feel that dance was overmarked.

Halloween Week scores

  1. Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsaikkas – 38
  2. Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola – 38
  3. Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec – 37
  4. Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe – 35
  5. JB Gill and Amy Dowden – 32
  6. Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal – 31
  7. Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin – 31
  8. Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu – 31
  9. Wynne Evans and Katya Jones – 31
  10. Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell – 26
  11. Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez – 26

“I think it was a mess when I was looking at it, I was like, ‘what is this?’

“I think the whole taking the costume off was a bit of a distraction for her and she was so buzzing.

“You get this buzz from doing a live show. She was so buzzing and then they were going wrong, they were not in sync.

“Actually, it was the worst dance for her again.”

“The other dances that she did were actually pretty good, but this one was definitely not my favourite, and I find it really strange that she got the best scores for that dance.

“I feel like she’s been overmarked this week. I didn’t like it at all.”

Ola joined the Strictly cast in 2006.

Over the years Ola has danced with the likes of Chris Hollins, Robbie Savage, Sid Owen and Ashley Taylor Dawson.

But in 2015 she decided to call it quits.

Confirming the speculation, Ola said on Twitter: “Hi tweeps…. So, yes it’s true. I will be leaving Strictly at the end of this series.

“I have had an amazing 10 years on the show, but things change and I feel it’s time for me to move onto other things.

“I love Strictly and have met some amazing people and made some great friends who I will miss massively.

“I am so grateful for the show for what it has given me.”

She added: “I also want to thank all of you for your continuous support throughout the show.

“You will never know how much it means to me. I love you all.

“I wanted to finally say how amazing all the pro dancers are. The show is a massive success because you are brilliant at what you do.

“Sometimes in life you have to take a step backwards in order to keep moving forwards.”

Diddy sexually assaulted aspiring rapper boy, 10, after drugging his soda during audition, harrowing new lawsuit claims

SEAN “Diddy” Combs has been hit with two more lawsuits including allegations that he drugged and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy during an audition.

The harrowing new claims filed on Monday come after the rapper was arrested on criminal charges and faces over 100 civil lawsuits for rape and assault.

In one of the new claims, the rapper is accused of having drugged and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old in a hotel room in New York City in 2005.

The victim has not been named but had hopes of being a rapper and actor who regularly travelled with his parents to California for meetings with figures from the entertainment industry.

It is claimed that while auditioning for Combs, the boy was given a soda laced with drugs by one of the rapper’s associates before being sexually assaulted by the hip-hop star in a hotel room.

The lawsuit further alleged that the child lost consciousness and was later told by Combs that he would hurt his parents if the boy reported the incident to anyone.

HARROWING CLAIMS

A second lawsuit filed on Monday alleges that Combs assaulted a 17-year-old in a similar set of circumstances in 2008.

The teenager was set to be a contestant on the television series “Making the Band” which Combs produced.

The alleged victim claims he was forced to perform sexual acts with Combs and a bodyguard during a three-day audition for the reality series.

When the teenager showed reluctance to engage in the acts, he was axed from the show and unable to return to the music industry for seven years, the suit claims.

The rapper’s lawyers have denied the two latest allegations against the 54-year-old.

“Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” an emailed statement.

“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”

These two most recent claims filed with the Supreme Court in New York add to the slew of lawsuits stacked against the record producer accusing him of dozens of sexual assaults over the past 20 years.

Many of these alleged incidents are said to have occurred at meetings and Diddy’s infamous parties.

The lawyers further claimed that Anthony Buzbee, the lawyer for both of the accusers, is seeking publicity as he represents the alleged victims in the earlier lawsuits.

Just two weeks ago, six new lawsuits were filed against the music mogul accusing him of raping two women, molesting a 16-year-old boy, and assaulting three men.

Diddy's downfall

By The U.S. Sun’s Senior Reporter Forrest McFarland, who has been reporting on Diddy’s legal battles for years

BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest on Monday night, it had been highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.

His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”

Hours before his arrest, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed the feds investigating Combs were secretly liaising with Tupac Shakur murder prosecutors on gangland activities.

The development also came after Combs was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.

Aside from the Tupac probe, Combs was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.

Disturbing hotel surveillance video from 2016 showed Combs chasing Cassie down and then punching, kicking, and beating her in a hallway.

Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Combs’ mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.

In addition to his federal criminal charges, Combs also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.

Music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Combs forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.

He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.

The 16-year-old claimed that Combs touched his genitals while at a party in 1998 after allegedly being told by the then 28-year-old musician to “Drop his pants.”

Combs allegedly asked him, “Don’t you want to break into the business?”

The other five lawsuits filed on October 14 made allegations of rape, forced oral sex, and drugging victims to incapacitate them.

One of these alleged incidents happened in the stockroom of a Macy’s store in May 2008, while another victim claimed she was raped by Combs in a locked hotel room in 2004.

‘DIRTY SECRETS’

Over 100 alleged victims have filed civil claims against Combs accusing him of sexual assault.

Earlier this month, Buzbee revealed that he is representing over 100 accusers in a series of civil claims that he is in the process of filing against the rapper, who continues to deny all charges against him.

The attorney said one of the claims is from a boy who was nine years old when he was allegedly abused by Combs.

“The names will shock you,” Buzbee said of many of his client’s allegations, adding that there are “many powerful people” involved and “many dirty secrets.”

The onslaught of allegations against the rapper was sparked after a video went viral in May of Combs beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016.

His lawyers have called the wave of allegations “meritless” and part of a “reckless media circus.”

Meanwhile, last week his six children released a joint statement defending their father against the “conspiracy theories” launched against him.

Combs is currently behind bars in New York City on federal sex trafficking charges to which he has pleaded not guilty.

His request to be released on a $50 million bond was denied last month.

The rapper was arrested on September 16 following a police raid on his properties in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this year.

The indictment listing all of the charges for his arrest was unsealed the day after he was taken into custody.

These included claims that he coerced and abused a female victim and silenced others with violence and blackmail.

The indictment also alleges he hosted drug and sex-fuelled “Freak Offs” that lasted for days and left guests needing IV drips.

The rapper is set to go to trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges on May 5 next year.

Combs’ lawyers have been contacted for comment.
